There is nothing “harsh” or “aggressive” about this video. I don’t think most people understand how tough it is to be an entertainer (in kpop or in another form of entertainment). It takes a person with certain kind of personality to succeed in the entertainment world.
Word. I hope this puts a stop to the incessant "if I am X, will I succeed", or "if I don't debut, do I need to repay the debt", or "will the label pay for my airfare if I want to audition in Korea" comments Gina gets in every video. It's as though they want all of the benefits but none of the risk. And expect to be spoonfed every last scrap of information, plus have their hand held throughout. As Gina said, if you want it, go get it.
strongly agree. people need to rethink their life decisions as soon as possible if it just turns out that they could be wasting their time for a dream that's not for them. gina is just being honest.
"Harsh", hardly. By now it should be known the industry can create 'stars' and there isn't a shortage of a talent pool from the hundreds audition shows. TL:DL - "If you have to ask, you ain't ready." - Gina
I don't think this was an aggressive way to answer this question, it was simply realistic and honest and some people really do need to hear things this way to truly reflect on their thoughts. Thank you Gina, I admire your eloquence and concise way of speaking!
this is THE BEST audition guide video out there that i've ever seen. everyone who's interested in joining the industry should really see this and actually all kpop fans need to see this. i think nothing was really harsh about this because it's just the truth-the fact that you need people's validation or you keep on asking questions before you go and audition means you're not for this path. gina is one of the best, if not the best youtuber out there who actually speaks the truth (bc some other people just go "kPop/ThE iNdUsTrY iS dArK" blah blah blah without considering the fact that it's only for people who are determined and lucky and it has both a good and bad side too.
I get what she's trying to say. True #kpopfans know about it - the hardships of idol trainees in making it and continuously doing it as kpop dols. The kpop industry is a gamble, a survival show, never-ending competition. 😏It's showBUSINESS!
There are several other girls that are youtubers talking about K-POP stuff, some of the things they talk about are way worse than what Gina says, more importantly Gina gives you the mind set required to advance yourself in the kpop industry. If you are going for your dream as a kpop entertainer be sure that you understand contracts and the language used inside the contract, even though the Korean Government has established guidelines for these contracts, be weary and see a lawyer or legal assistant. As always the everywhere girl is going to be as honest as possible with her conversation and you should appreciate all that she told you, remember too that at she is still involved in the industry, and what would happen if she was to bold -- could that get her in trouble????? Its very vulnerable, out here in the public view, so lets help her to keep this channel alive so all her fans and friends can enjoy her posts.
thank you for being so transparent. i think it's important for people to know the honesty of things, especially if they want to get into the industry. like you said, the industry is an unpredictable gamble. if you want to make it in you need to be able to take the harshness. and honestly i think you are the most helpful source out here. you have so much wisdom and the way you speak is so elegant and real. you really inspire and motivate me to follow my dreams and trust myself more
Umm.. Yeah, I think you're 100% right Gina.. Because I've heard lot of dark things about Kpop industry.. but I was blinded from dreaming to become a Kpop idol.. now I think my tryst and my interest for become a Kpop idol is just only a waste.. I did everything for build-up my confidence and enthusiasm for become a Kpop idol.. because I was blinded from that dream.. Now I know that everything is a waste.. but I'll never give up.. because of my thersty for become a singer.. I will try in another way.. This is not HARSH and AGGRESSIVE at all.. I think this is the truth this is the reality of the KPOP industry people need to understand...
Im not interested in becoming a kpop idol, but i always dreamt of being a webcomic artist, i got rejected from several art schools and it made me doubt my whole passion and ability, and so i began to lose inspiration in my art. Thank you for those words, even though it was specifically directed to kpop auditionees, it made me rethink how much art means to me and that if i really want this nothing should stop me in chasing my dreams!
@@russiegirl.sports of course I know them💝 they’re also amazing but I think Gina really gives the most HONEST opinions and she really wishes us the best and made me sure that I want to achieve this dream✨
Thank you so much for this video, it really pushed me and reminded me why I'm doing this, and helped remind me to work even harder! I don't think this was too harsh at all, I think it was perfectly realistic and told as it was, thanks again🫶
This is the best advice I've heard regarding dreams. Real dreams can hurt like nothing else you've experienced in your life. It takes a strong mind, the correct attitude and willpower to pass through hardships. Specially if your dream is to become a kpop idol. I'm not interested in becoming an artist of any kind, but I enjoy your contents so much.
This kinda applies to alot of things in life - if you're not sure don't do it sjsj my sister got into multiple universities and chose one that ky dad kinda pushed her to take up and it ended with her dropping out because of their horrible system so that kinda left an impression on me
This may not have been the answer I was "looking for," but it definitely was the answer I needed to hear. Thank you so much for your honesty, I appreciate it more than you know! To be honest, I am (or was lol) very interested in becoming a Kpop idol so I watched your videos to see what its really like and I'm very glad I did because it's given me a lot to think about. I've always been a "work hard and you do anything" type of person, but also a person who needs to hear it how it is because I'm so unrealistic and i have so many big dreams so I needed this reality check. Thank you for this, Gina.
when you said that you hate to leave on an aggressive note, i think that it's actually better. it's really motivating and empowered to me. i love your videos so much, thank you for your channel, for your videos, and for your words.
i wanted to hear you speak with brutal honesty!! kpop auditionees who do end up getting picked by a company will hear way worse words, and if they debut, will hear EVEN HARSHER words. candidness is refreshing!!
That's actually a nice suggestion video. Honestly, if one is incredibly talented from all the perspectives, that means the company don't need to train you anymore, therefore ppl who are doubting about their ability, that already means they are not good enough.
If this video's message comes off as aggressive, it's moreso a reflection of the industry itself. It's no joke. Any entertainment industry is brutal, and Kpop is forefront in that example. If someone cannot handle that kind of environment, then it's true. Best not to get into the waters. It's a place that can get and has gotten people killed if they aren't suited for it. On the other hand...man, Gina is so fucking sincere when she voices her support for those who just have the grit to stay the route. And this is everything. To those of you who DO have it, I've no doubt you can make it. Please take care of yourself the best you can while doing so! Thank you for making this video, Gina.
Yeahh you're speaking the truth even after hearing these things I'm really ready to become kidol cuz that's my dream... Yupp I'm ready to leave and get hurt for my dream..... And Tq sm... That i feel this video is really helpful 😊😊
Everything that you said reminds me of my time in the military, the only thing I can compare to what a kpop idol goes through with the exception of fame is what someone in the military goes through. The constant training, monthly evaluations, watching weight, all of these expectations, etc. What a great video, some people need to hear this. Being an idol isn't all sunshine and rainbows. We live in a messed up world and kpop isn't an exception.
I have no desire to be in the kpop business. But listening to you talk like this makes me have so much respect for you. You actually kind of sound like the female version of me with a lot less swearing.
ACTUALLY what you said was encouraging to me because I am dead serious about this dream but didn't know if I can do it just with hard work, I'm not asian. But I know I have the right ambition and mindset and I know that I can dance (not as good as kpop idols but I'm pretty okay) I feel like I have the potential. I can also sing a little and I can rap a little I also absolutely love music. I will keep working hard.
You just said what's important and pure and as you said if things like this kinda hurt or take back someone this it's for you but if this made you believe in you and know more go for it . There isn't certain rules for something if you know you can , you beleive you can . It's yours ☘️
I love this! Just came from the rilacoco tea collab to check this out. I love how you didn't sugar coat anything and honestly this generation needs a wake up call because we've been babied and tottled. If I was lets say 16-18 and I heard this video I would've had my feelings hurt. I grew up and got more self confidence and resilience. Anyone who is 16 or younger reading this, you got this! toughen yourself up because this is the real world and it's scary out there 🤗 esp in the kpop industry thats just jail LMAO
Thank you so much sometimes I can't understand you're indirect wordings ( because I am 13) 5but I got the mentality that you told to have now I will just go for it work hard and if I not make it I will change my direction afterwards but my first priority will be this thank you so much sis
Honestly, I am glad you were honest and didn't sugar-coat as much. Confidence and being humble at the same time is the key to success, why would anyone believe in you, if you didn't believe in yourself in the first place
Love how she is to the point and so clear and honest yet polite. You r so wise and i admire u alot. I hope one day i will be brave n strong like u Gina♡
Being honesty like you are helps people understand the realty . It is like any professional fields there is so much one has to do and being humble by learning from others is great. Great video
I have so much respect for you girl, you’re such a genuine person and I truly am thankful that people like you exist in the world, thanks for creating such wonderful true content for your viewers 💕
a person could be master of every trade and not be signed because companies weren't looking for what the person has. in a sense, the kpop industry is a gambling system; it's practically impossible to predict when a person will debut.
I agree. I've heard it described as striking lottery. Of the hundreds of thousands of hopefuls, how many are signed? And of those signed, how many complete the training? And of those trained, how many actually get to debut? Talent isn't the metric. And for the most part, neither is wealth, or influence. A large part of it is luck.
I’m auditioning for JYP and Belieft entrainment probably more companies too!!Wish me luck! To be honest I didn’t get offended at all. I agree in what you said. Thanks for making this video!😊😊have a nice day!
Thank you so much for healing my soul, Your videos inspired me a lot Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ You are my inspiration, always keep going Lots of love and luck ❤️❤️❤️
i love these type of videos.. sugarcoating words is so not my thing😭 I don't think that there is anything harsh in this video... It is what it is and you can't change that
Hi Gina Unnie, thanks for the honest video and love all your Kpop relayed content - they are so real and refreshing! I’m in my late 20s and got into Kpop during COVID (because I realized that Korean artists put out soooo much more content than European/American ones!) I found this industry fascinating - the demanding training system, the hierarchy, the strict restrictions trainees / idols experience but then when they debut and face the public it gotta be all smile and sunshine and aegyo.. which frankly speaking is pretty ridiculous!? Anyway, love your insider perspectives, hope you continue filming these videos :) xxx
Even idols who had already debuted face a lot of hardships so it is a given that trainees would also experience a lot so this is not harsh for the sake of being harsh but just a sad, bitter reality that kpop world is not all glitter and gold. Kudos for another informative, honest and spot-on video!
the best part of this video is when she said that there are people with zero talent and ambition that have made it to the top. like I want to hear more about *that* story
You know I have always doubted myself even though most people say I am really talented in all aspects and all I am really lacking is the Korean language, I still felt as if I'm just not enough because I would compare myself with the best of the best and think that "I'm not as good as them yet I have to keep practicing" Not realizing that I have a specific dance technique and specific voice that is "Unique" And I guess your really right that no one should doubt themselves when it comes to their dreams and thank you so much.
this was clear and direct, and not particularly harsh. i can imagine what it would sound like if you were to decide to be more blunt though, haha. this is good advice, which is extremely kind of you to have taken the time to provide to hopefuls and the curious. cheers!
im only half way through and just thank you oh my god the amount of comments i see about "i dont know kr" or "im heavy so i cant" is so bothersome im not in the industry and it's annoying to me i can't imagine how you would feel getting them haha but seriously i have never found someone who is actually going to be blunt i agree with you, you could be way more blunt but really if you have to ask those questions then you shouldnt even be trying and you honestly shouldnt care what your odds are towards the entertainment industry anywhere bc if you really want it youll work hard anyways no matter what disadvantages you have also abt the part where you said ppl with no ambition can make it big in the industry thank you again for being honest and hopefully confirming for ppl out there bc a lot of the times people are like "eh this person is working so much harder this person wants it more this person deserves it why can this person debut" (basically saying it's unfair) but it is unfair lmao that's just how it is in all aspects of life but yeah people should understand that just in general hard work and ambition will not result in progress or success most of the times..
I have something that I've been curious about for a long time. How prevalent would you say plastic surgery actually is in the K-Pop industry? I want to clarify two things upfront: 1. This is not a personal question directed at you or any specific name in the K-Pop industry; so this is not a "What procedures have you done" or "What do you think Singer A/Celebrity B/Actor C etc. has possibly done" kind of question 2. I believe in each person's autonomy when it comes to pursuing beauty on their own terms, so this is not plastic surgery shaming or an attempt to put those with "natural beauty" in a "higher" place than those who went under the knife The reason I'm asking this question is because there is clear discrepancy between statistics and what seems to be implied, marketed or otherwise accepted by fans: South Korea has one of the highest numbers of plastic surgery cases in the world, statistically speaking; based on a lot of content on Korean RUclips channels that I've seen, it also seems somewhat openly acknowledged among the general public, and is viewed quite plainly (which if we disregard the general extreme pressure placed on appearance in SK society, I think is a good thing that people are not shamed for having done something), to the point that many girls get double-eyelid surgery as a high school graduation gift seems to be common knowledge One would think that if say five out of ten average members of the general public has done a procedure or two, the percentages would only be much higher within the entertainment industry - after all, it’s an industry where an essential part of the job is to look really, really good While what procedure a specific person has done isn’t something I spend that much time thinking about, I’ve always operated under the assumption that every artist who can even get on screen has probably done something cosmetic procedure-wise, and for good reason: Unlike the average person, K-Pop artists live to look good under the scrutiny of 4K camera lenses, and it’s pretty common knowledge that people tend to look better in person than on camera, which means people look worse onscreen than they do when in person, and something has to be done to make up for the points that got docked off by being on camera, so to speak (I imagine the weight obsession is partially for similar reasons, since people look larger/fatter on camera) With all this, one of the most debated and controversial topics surrounding any K-Pop artist somehow remains whether or not they have had plastic surgery and what they’ve done, and many fans seem to fervently believe in the fact that their favourites must and could never have went under the knife - which is both a fairly toxic mindset to have as a lot of these comments or “defense” comes across as holding these artists on a pedestal and to impossible standards, and seems delusional considering statistical numbers The issue also appears to remain somewhat sensitive for artists, despite rising open acceptance and de-stigmatization among the general public (I’ve seen many videos on Korean YT channels where people discuss frankly about their experiences with plastic surgery, or games that involve guessing what each person has done, street interviews asking passer-bys if/what they’ve done etc.), and isn’t something they bring up or discuss much, which means there’s very little firsthand information to confirm any guesses So my question comes down to this: Since logical reasoning and statistics do not match up with what a lot of fans are proclaiming, and direct acknowledgement or confirmation rarely (if ever) come from the artists themselves, out of 10 artists (or trainees), how many would you say have went under the knife?
Your honesty and realism is refreshing, especially coming from someone who was in the K-Pop industry. One of the things I hate most about the industry is it seems to me that even the stars in successful groups are seen as disposable commodities when their agency decides it doesn't want them anymore, gugudan, for only one recent example.
I think some teens expect they can be BTS or Blackpink. But these are the exceptions. Even group like loona , stayc or Astro or sf9 even more smaller groups are the exceptions. Most groups you dont even know they exist and they disband without any notice.
Well , gina do you think that visuals are somewhat more important than being talented ??, cuz , a pretty person without talent can be made better with training but a so called "ugly" person according to k-netz with talents can't be made prettier without plastic surgery...and some of them are even just street casted just for their top-tier visuals.
Didn't she cover this already? She said there are *always* exceptions to the rule. If you have stunning looks, and a label is putting together a group, and need a visual, they *may* sign you on that basis alone. Or they *may not* Every label is looking for something different. As Gina said there are no guarantees, or blanket rules. There is no possible way she can answer that question.
There is nothing “harsh” or “aggressive” about this video. I don’t think most people understand how tough it is to be an entertainer (in kpop or in another form of entertainment). It takes a person with certain kind of personality to succeed in the entertainment world.
Don’t be afraid to „seem harsh“ for speaking the truth. Videos like this are important. Thankyou for your sincerity!
True
Word.
I hope this puts a stop to the incessant "if I am X, will I succeed", or "if I don't debut, do I need to repay the debt", or "will the label pay for my airfare if I want to audition in Korea" comments Gina gets in every video.

wonder whom did the translation to Korean subtitle or was the script done in Korean and translated afterwards and shot in English.
You should be harsher. Please be real.
Thanks for being honest with us!!
Don't worry about offending people. You said what needed to be said
Love ur videos and how honest and kind u really are..❤️ Thank u for this video!!!
Binging your videos, you are a very inspiring and altruistic person ❤️ thanks for the content :)
the best part of this video is when she said that there are people with zero talent and ambition that have made it to the top. like I want to hear more about *that* story
Thank you for sharing🙏🤝👍. Be safe&take care🤝💪💞🙏😎😷
You know I have always doubted myself even though most people say I am really talented in all aspects and all I am really lacking is the Korean language, I still felt as if I'm just not enough because I would compare myself with the best of the best and think that "I'm not as good as them yet I have to keep practicing" Not realizing that I have a specific dance technique and specific voice that is "Unique" And I guess your really right that no one should doubt themselves when it comes to their dreams and thank you so much.
this was clear and direct, and not particularly harsh. i can imagine what it would sound like if you were to decide to be more blunt though, haha.
this is good advice, which is extremely kind of you to have taken the time to provide to hopefuls and the curious. cheers!
Actually thank you for what u said and it did not hurt me at all 💜
im only half way through and just thank you oh my god the amount of comments i see about "i dont know kr" or "im heavy so i cant" is so bothersome im not in the industry and it's annoying to me i can't imagine how you would feel getting them haha but seriously i have never found someone who is actually going to be blunt i agree with you, you could be way more blunt but really if you have to ask those questions then you shouldnt even be trying and you honestly shouldnt care what your odds are towards the entertainment industry anywhere bc if you really want it youll work hard anyways no matter what disadvantages you have
also abt the part where you said ppl with no ambition can make it big in the industry thank you again for being honest and hopefully confirming for ppl out there bc a lot of the times people are like "eh this person is working so much harder this person wants it more this person deserves it why can this person debut" (basically saying it's unfair) but it is unfair lmao that's just how it is in all aspects of life but yeah people should understand that just in general hard work and ambition will not result in progress or success most of the times..
Tho I got shocked and sad while watching the vd, I think that yeah truth is always bitter! Right? Everything is give and take.
행복한 것들을 나눠 주신 아름다운 친구들에게 감사합니다

I'm truly grateful for everything that you said. Thank you for being so sincere!
I needed this thank u
this is VERY well said👍
a coffee/ drink in the intro will always be remarkble 🤍 i think this will be a trademark 😁
Aw! The video is so short!
Gina what is your opinion on Brave Girls?? Do you think they’ll be a one hit wonder or will they be able to build a career from this?
I have something that I've been curious about for a long time. How prevalent would you say plastic surgery actually is in the K-Pop industry?
I want to clarify two things upfront:
1.
This is not a personal question directed at you or any specific name in the K-Pop industry; so this is not a "What procedures have you done" or "What do you think Singer A/Celebrity B/Actor C etc. has possibly done" kind of question
2. I believe in each person's autonomy when it comes to pursuing beauty on their own terms, so this is not plastic surgery shaming or an attempt to put those with "natural beauty" in a "higher" place than those who went under the knife
The reason I'm asking this question is because there is clear discrepancy between statistics and what seems to be implied, marketed or otherwise accepted by fans:
South Korea has one of the highest numbers of plastic surgery cases in the world, statistically speaking; based on a lot of content on Korean RUclips channels that I've seen, it also seems somewhat openly acknowledged among the general public, and is viewed quite plainly (which if we disregard the general extreme pressure placed on appearance in SK society, I think is a good thing that people are not shamed for having done something), to the point that many girls get double-eyelid surgery as a high school graduation gift seems to be common knowledge
One would think that if say five out of ten average members of the general public has done a procedure or two, the percentages would only be much higher within the entertainment industry - after all, it’s an industry where an essential part of the job is to look really, really good
While what procedure a specific person has done isn’t something I spend that much time thinking about, I’ve always operated under the assumption that every artist who can even get on screen has probably done something cosmetic procedure-wise, and for good reason:
Unlike the average person, K-Pop artists live to look good under the scrutiny of 4K camera lenses, and it’s pretty common knowledge that people tend to look better in person than on camera, which means people look worse onscreen than they do when in person, and something has to be done to make up for the points that got docked off by being on camera, so to speak (I imagine the weight obsession is partially for similar reasons, since people look larger/fatter on camera)
With all this, one of the most debated and controversial topics surrounding any K-Pop artist somehow remains whether or not they have had plastic surgery and what they’ve done, and many fans seem to fervently believe in the fact that their favourites must and could never have went under the knife - which is both a fairly toxic mindset to have as a lot of these comments or “defense” comes across as holding these artists on a pedestal and to impossible standards, and seems delusional considering statistical numbers
The issue also appears to remain somewhat sensitive for artists, despite rising open acceptance and de-stigmatization among the general public (I’ve seen many videos on Korean YT channels where people discuss frankly about their experiences with plastic surgery, or games that involve guessing what each person has done, street interviews asking passer-bys if/what they’ve done etc.), and isn’t something they bring up or discuss much, which means there’s very little firsthand information to confirm any guesses
So my question comes down to this: Since logical reasoning and statistics do not match up with what a lot of fans are proclaiming, and direct acknowledgement or confirmation rarely (if ever) come from the artists themselves, out of 10 artists (or trainees), how many would you say have went under the knife?
Let me bring ma tea sis 🍵
I wish more people would see this!
Question. If you were an idol today...which girl group would you want to be in?
Don't really have one I want to join myself 😅
U r beautiful
Your honesty and realism is refreshing, especially coming from someone who was in the K-Pop industry. One of the things I hate most about the industry is it seems to me that even the stars in successful groups are seen as disposable commodities when their agency decides it doesn't want them anymore, gugudan, for only one recent example.
I think some teens expect they can be BTS or Blackpink. But these are the exceptions. Even group like loona , stayc or Astro or sf9 even more smaller groups are the exceptions.
Most groups you dont even know they exist and they disband without any notice.
OMG somebody finally said it :)))))))))
Well I didn't found anything bad it all qas positive note for mee thank u so much
Have you ever thought about being a trainer for people you want to be a dancer?
What about kdrama, any suggestions for anyone who wants to get into the acting field
Does your good friend from ex-2AM Jo Kwon still own an ice cream shop?
No his cereal cafe closed :(
@@GinaEverywhere my bad...I thought it was an ice cream shop....I’m disappointed cause I was going to visit it for my vacation.
just wanted to ask..is there a role for cash in big ent? like yg?
Damn the ones with no talents and nothing going for them getting big... so unfair.
Don't all trainees live in the same building for whole day means all the time ? Or they can go home ?
Well , gina do you think that visuals are somewhat more important than being talented ??, cuz , a pretty person without talent can be made better with training but a so called "ugly" person according to k-netz with talents can't be made prettier without plastic surgery...and some of them are even just street casted just for their top-tier visuals.
you missed the point...
the industry is based on luck.
@@_twinklesprinkle
Ya , you're right and thanks for clarifying 😊😊...but still I wanted to know gina's opinion on this.
Didn't she cover this already?
She said there are *always* exceptions to the rule.
If you have stunning looks, and a label is putting together a group, and need a visual, they *may* sign you on that basis alone.
Or they *may not*
Every label is looking for something different.
As Gina said there are no guarantees, or blanket rules.
There is no possible way she can answer that question.
@@MC-ko2mx
Oh yah , you're exactly correct...now I got the point properly...thanks v.m.
for the audition, do we have to sing and dance at the same time?
What's the age limit for kpop audition plz tell me
Are you still in good terms with jyp management???
Of course😀
@@GinaEverywhere Wow you replied! Thank you❣️
