Great video! Why would it be installed right after the backflow device, in-line with the main water supply? I have standard valves installed further down the line, was wondering why it was installed at all. If the other valves are wired to the controller clock, this PGA valve is installed to the controller clock as well?
Hi Greg. It sounds like you are describing a *Master Valve*. MVs are installed at the water source, typically such after the backflow and when programmed as a Master Valve, the valve opens every time a zone operates. This provides extra protection in the event of a mainline pipe break - the system will only leak when operating. Please reply back if your questions was about something else.
I need to replace the solenoid in my Rainbird 100-pga valve (bought from SS in 2013). You showed everything except for what I need: how do I get the handle off? Mine must be stuck and I've searched all over the internet and can't find any information on how these handles are removed, so that the old solenoid can be unscrewed from the valve body. I don't want to break anything by simply using force, but I can't get the handle off and out of the way. Help?
Hi Marilyn. The solenoid handle lifts straight up. It is secured to the solenoid with 2 pressure/pinch type clips located directly under the handle, on either side. It can be tricky to remove it but it should come right off. Note that if you break it in the process that is okay. The handle serves no purpose other than to make it easier to turn the solenoid, but it is not required. Rain Bird is no longer shipping these handle with every valve. Good luck and happy sprinkling. -Andy
