  • Whats up guys it's Sean from Tradesmen Territory. This video is how to properly hook up and unhook to a pintle hitch trailer. This video is specific to McAllen Construction Inc. trucks and employees but I thought it was a good video to post since driving on the road with a trailer can be dangerous if not properly hooked up and I have not seen too many videos for this specifically so I wanted to share.
Notes not included in the video: Make sure to check the manufacturer's weight rating of the trailer. If the trailer and machine combine for over 10,000 lbs then you need a Class A CDL to drive it. Two of the trailers need a Class A license while the older trailers do not, but you do need an active medical card for all instances.
Pre trip video and how to hook up to a pintle hitch trailer with air brakes are coming soon so stay tuned!

If every how to video was as step by step as this one, there'd be a lot more skills getting imparted.

I’m looking for a different kind of pointless hitch sadly. I’ve hooked up trailers hundreds of times. But this truck has some weird hitch where the bottom is the part that locks or something weird like that.

I'm sorry to interject into your video but I believe that you're incorrect on twisting the chain to shorten it to keep it from dragging on the ground by twisting the chain over itself like that you are making a leverage for that chain to break more easily if for some reason The trailer should come disconnected from the tow vehicle. Chains are meant to pull straight line not twisted twisting a chain will allow it to break more easily.
You can keep the chains shorter by using a bungee or other supportive items.

@@crotaflyingsolo4759 That makes sense, been doing it for a while now, been very thankful that I haven’t had a broken trailer and needed to use the chains, will do that thank you!

@@tradesmenterritory You're welcome, can't have a fellow driver break his stuff from bad information! We go through life with info given to us as we learn, but that info might have been given to our teachers as well, hopefully, the error will be corrected by the ones that learn from us! Be safe out there!
PS, maybe a short update video for your followers who don't read the comment section for this info?
      Just a thought!

@@crotaflyingsolo4759 Would be a great idea! I have been slacking with my youtube videos, might have to go mythbusters and test the strength of a twisted chain and straight chain to get raw results!🔥
