Occasionally, somebody on a job site will turn a video into a gong show. Still safe for kids. No bleeping. A good solid GONG. His team rarely get gonged. Great to not have unintelligent spoken.
That wasn't too bad. Last time I put a new connector on a used trailer "by the color code", the right turn signal flashed the marker lights, and when I put the left turn signal on, the toilet in the shop flushed. Nice job, and that trailer looks pretty good.
Good morning Mike. Trailer looks really good especially for the year it is. Take care and have a blessed weekend. Glad you had help with the lights thanks to gunner and macey.

Hey Mike again just some friendly advice....on those glad hands u put on...we did this on my pony pup. The glad hands coming out of truck, put a rubber line there to the glad hands so that way when u r dumping nothing will hit them and break off...I've had it happen to me 2xs....so ya....just some friendly info..piece bro
Wouldn't it have been better to have the glad hands on the outside of the frame rails behind the tires?? Trailer wiring is a pain ...Its a blessing to have officer Hoover around he truly is trying to educate people not just give tickets 🤣🤣 Great videos Mike your Fleet is growing..💪👍
Mike, get a set of Sloan swing-away gladhands. They’re spring loaded and always stay close to the hitch when not in use. I have them on my dump truck and they work great!
Looks good 👍. I think some subs have already seen the video where MBTS cuts the tail off that trailer. Major improvement and less bottom outs. She's a keeper! Cheers Mike.
Good video again my friend that is a nice trailer Good job putting the hitch on I agree with you to they are sticking out pretty far they would get Tour off if something come out of the tailgate and a hit them good job getting the trailer ready Looks like it really to go to work be safe my friend have a good day
I cheat and have installed a back up camera for hitching my pup and equipment trailers to my old dump truck. Works well and I get it spot on every time. This cheap modification has proven to be a real time saver. Sometimes with the pup you end up dropping the trailer up to 10 times a day and anything to reduce effort is a win in my books.
@@w056007568 I also run a 90 straight off of the hitch apron and then have about 8" of rubber air hose before I attach the gladhand. That way they hang loose and are not as vulnerable to impact while hitching or from the trailer tongue in turns on hills etc.. Nothing slows your day down like having to repair stuff.
Hey mike on them glad hands my buddies did like you did but from the metal pipe you welded in to the glad hand they put a rubber air line in between the glad hand and the pipe, that way it will give when anything would hit it. Great vidja keep up the great work
Grand; noticed you wanted to save yourself walking too far by leaving the safety chain on! Lol. Reminds me must fit one soon. Oops. my recent experience with trailer wiring was fraught because the installer omitted to connect the ground wire normally worked because of the brake buddy connection. Good job you seem to be friendly with the local traffic cops; Drive without lights and then tell the world!!
unbelievable timing, last week i was digging out for a stone parking lot at a commercial building and the neighbor asked for some dirt at his shop and wouldn’t you know he has a 97- 20 tonner trail king sitting there in perfect condition, no rust anywhere, so i bought it and was think about how to set up the glad hands...well i’m glad i watched your video i really like the 90 degree set up. i was considering on extending my apron on the body, you may want to fabricate a apron to your body for more clearance, thanks for the video.

I like how you have Trooper Hoover look at the trailer, help with the load, then drive it to the shop, without lights! Sure hopes he does not see this, or BETTER yet, his reaction!!!! LOL And fyi, might be wrong here, in PA you must cross the saftey chains, or you will get a fine.
Yeah, lets not set the chains to SNAP when they are absolutely needed by having them crossed. Sorry Officer Hoover, but having them crossed and the hitch is released so the chains suddenly carry the weight is asking for the chains to fail. It may provide slightly better control over the trailer, but it drastically increases the chance of a safety chain breaking when the strain is added.
393.70. 4) The safety device must be connected to the towed and towing vehicles and to the tow-bar in a manner which prevents the tow-bar from dropping to the ground in the event it fails or becomes disconnected. Only way to prevent draw bar from hitting the ground is with crossed chains.
@@dotbearwoodworking9342 Or chains to short to allow the front of the trailer to reach the ground in event the hitch fails. The length can't be to short to interfere with turns either. I think the ones on the trailer in this video, with the placement of the connections on the c8500 fit the requirement of not long enough to allow the tip to reach the ground and we know they are long enough to not hurt turning.
@@jaquigreenlees so you are saying shorter chains will prevent from touching but would interfere with turning? I agree. But in the video we saw how long the chains are. Hey, I would like to know where that little load binder trick was when I was trucking. Loved the narrative from your trailer guy. He was bragging on how far you've come.
Not finished with the video yet, but if you haven't thought of it yet... I would turn down those 90° fittings on the ends of your trailer supply hoses so the hoses ran down and out towards the tires on each side. It appears they already "want" to hang that way anyway so it seems like this would alleviate some of that stress that's on them while sticking straight back.
Those RV(spade) light connectors are not labeled the same as the semi connectors. I’ve run into the same issue before where the trailer wires were the right colors but the connectors weren’t marked to match. Wound up doing the same as you just try it and see what works and go from there. Officer Hoover seems to be the type of trooper that you don’t mind when he stops you as long as you listen and give him respect he will be pleasant to deal with. I like how he wants to educate as well as enforce. Unfortunately it’s not always that way.
Trailer looks good. Not too sure about the gladhand orientation. Got cited by. CHP Commercial because one gladhand wasn’t completely vertical. My Hougen broach pushes the slug out with the center pilot when the handle is fully retracted. As per DOT” safety chains MUST be crossed in the event of the trailer becomes disconnected the tongue will fall into the cradle and not pogo. Lots of luck.
Yeah i had same dilemma on my KW I put the lines in the same spot as you did.. My other truck I had them on the outsides of plate recessed.. That trailer's nice I love the C channel sides where you could bind to it in any spot That's how my Dynaweld is.. 👍🏼
I put my air thru. Hitch on my peterbilt and when you jack it you snap it. 16 yrs. Like an idiot haven't changed them yet. Next truck will be different location
Can you pull this trailer with your service truck? Your kids helping reminded me of being the family tv remote back in the 70's. My knees still hurt. Lol. Have a blessed and safe weekend.
No- the DOT says the gross combination weight rating of the towing vehicle has to be equal or more than the gross weight rating of the trailer.. that's likely a minimum 15 ton (30,000 lb) or maybe a 20 ton (40,000 lb) trailer.. and it's doubtful his service truck will have that rating...
Love the video but you seem really passionate about not crossing the chains . I honestly don't know enough about it to have an opinion on it but I generally think you are a thoughtful guy and have good advice about hauling heavy equipment. I was just wondering if you have a good tip on why it is better not to do cross them or if it was just preempting the inevitable dumb comment that was coming because of a preference lol another great video Mike keep it up.
