That is so cool man, I got a WR250R too and never seen one get so much air. I'm slowly doing some mods, just got Michelin AC-10s fitted and a skid plate. Exhaust will be next.
Awesome! Goes to show you "they" are often wrong, and a lot of "theys" don't even have one to speak from experience about. I don't have one yet either, but your video makes me want one!
Awesome man. I am buying one of these in part because of this video. I'm really worried about not having enough power for a 200 l dude, but I think with some basic stuff - pipe/FI controller/gearing - it'll do just fine for what I'm after. Great video.
Bike looks awesome dude. Just upgraded to a drz400s after having a klx250sf... I'm kinda wondering if I should have gone the wr route... I like the idea of how light it is... can't beat the torque of the 400 though. I wonder if I can jump it like you...
Yeah I am pretty dissapointed with myself for not getting the WR250R, seems the bike puts out well especially with a bit of tuning. XT.... well not the case.
Not in my experience. I think the CRF250L is more controllable. It has smoother power delivery, but it also has less power. Everything is a trade off. I'm about 205 lbs. The WR250R is much better for me than the CRF250L as it'd need about 50% stronger suspension to do well. Check out the rest of my review on the differences. autobravado.blogspot.com/2017/01/part-2-2015-2017-wr250rx-vs-2012-2016.html
D e Nichols I read your review if I weigh 250 lbs which bike is right for me would I B too heavy for the non-adjustable Honda what about the XT and the WR
Great video! I am about to get the WR250R I sold my KLR because the #funfactor wasn't there... looking for lightweight fun!!! I saw that in this video WOW !!! All stock ?
Compared stock to stock the DRZ has a small edge in HP but the only time its faster than the lighter WR w/ modern suspension is on smooth straights (boring). Ride them both stock and you'll notice you're going faster on the WR almost always. With performance mods both can be made faster but it's easier and cheaper to get more out the WR (Power Commander). The WR needs no suspension upgrades while the DRZs susp is stuck in 1990. DRZ is cheaper and carb is simpler, that's all it has on the WR.
Big difference in power between a 125cc two stroke and a 250 four stroke ? The 250 probably has more power in the low range, but how big is the difference in the top range ?
I want one pretty bad, I rode an uncle's for about a week or so and the only thing I didn't like was the gearing and suspension. I probably would have been bothered by the weight if I tried some hill climbs or single track.
Dude you certainly can make that thing move on the dirt! This is dangerous though, as it makes people like me think that if I had a WR250R I could do that too, then I try and it's clutch, gear, rev, slide, crash, snapped bone, hospital. Nice vid though.
Looking at picking one of these up at some point to ride around in the desert when i'm not using my truck. It's state park land(Anza Borrego) and there are some pretty technical trails and climbs. Can this or the Honda do it for me, or should I look at something bigger? I weigh about 180lbs. I won't be ripping on it or anything, but would like it to have enough power to get over those climbs and through some periodic deep sand. Thanks!
wow, im impressed! I thought that the reviews said this bike is powerful for a 250 which it seems to be in this vid, awesome vid and bike, im thinking about this bike to buy, would you recommend it? again sweet vid, cant stop replaying 0:35-0:40
How much better is that go-race suspension than stock. I just sold my 2005 ktm 450exc and am looking to buy a wr250 but I would want ktm like suspension. Is this possible and how about the cost? Thanks.
Actually many people in the dual sport, supermoto, and stunt worlds are going from their DRZ400s and DRZ400SMs to the WR250R and WR250X. Fuel injection, modern suspension, and a 6 speed make the Yamaha's very attractive when it's just as reliable and low-maintenance as the 400s yet faster. There is more of a difference between a WR250R and an XT225 than there is between a WR250R and a DRZ400. Maybe you meant 450s? Those are all pure race-bikes, a total different breed than any XT, DRZ, or WR-R.
I've had 3 drz400 (all road legal: full power E and klx-400r motard and the lethargic 36mm carb S) - the FI 6-speed yamaha is a better all-round bike, and I sold my 06 husky 610 for it so know what power I'm giving away (the 6-speed long service interval quality suspension reliable husky shits all over the drz400 by the way), the xt225/250 does not compare or is even in the same family... had one of those as well. i.e. wr250r > old tech drz400, unless ALL you want are 3rd gear wheelies...
completely different engine setup. the wr's engine is a screamer compared to the xt. cc's isn't everything. heck your car's engine is a I4 or v6 in the range of 2.0 to 3.8l. makes in the area of low 200hp. f1 engines are making about 800hp with only 2.4l and no power adders. the design of fuel and airflow are very important when it comes to hp
So, dumb question time for you bike guys! Is this a "street bike that can go offroad" or "a dirtbike that's street legal"? You follow me? I'm eyeballing a 2008 now with 3700 miles on it. Drooling over this bike and can't decide what to do!!
WZW1982 Yes, i don't know what this guy is talking about.(The wr250x is the supermoto) Originally the in 1990's (When the WR first came out) it stood for wide ratio (Transmission) The WR was originally a woods version of the YZ 250 (The first WR's were a two stroke) I
Who said the Wr isnt a good dirt bike? Never heard anyone or any article say that. Everything I've read says the opposite in fact. The Wr is great in the dirt.
I'll tell you one thing, my FZ1 won't do that. I want to sell it and buy one of these. I don't care if it's not the best dirt bike...it can do dirt, good enough for me.
people think the wr is a pos well lets see them ride my KLR650 out there... you would snap the frame! and blow out the forks. Blew mine on a little 4ft jump. LOL
How abt rear sprocket change to 47 - mandatory mod (speedo healer is required)! Air box mod - must do as well. AIS (air induction system) set to be dismantled and thrown in garbage bin too. ruclips.net/video/WFTOrxg_B6w/видео.html
I don't understand why people take a motorcycle made for dual sport riding, and try to make it into a bike that it wasn't designed to be. Why not just get a YZ 250F or 450F if you wanna ride mx? Or, a WR250F 0r WR450F to ride off road?. I thinlk what im trying to say is that the WR250R is a great bike as is for what it designed to do.
+TheRealChrisONeil WR250R is a street legal and you do not have to make reperations every year, in this moto its only usual servis, changing oil and filters every 6000km or 10 000km of course in stock bike, with power commander can be often but still not so often like in YZ or F models.
the gearing is bad. 1st is too low and 2nd too high. The front doesn't feel planted in turns & it wants to suddenly die out if yur not keeping the revs high in turns
I've never seen a WR250R ridden hard like a dirt bike, and it looked impressive.
E2Moto I've gotta buddy who raced MX his whole life. It's always something to watch him on my WR. He flings it around like it's a trials bike.
wanted to see someone shreddin tf outta this thing and this vid is perfect haha me and pops looking into getting some for street riding
You forgot to beep the horn on the jumps!
Lol
That is so cool man, I got a WR250R too and never seen one get so much air. I'm slowly doing some mods, just got Michelin AC-10s fitted and a skid plate. Exhaust will be next.
My brother and think Yamaha should sponsor you and use this video for a advert, your showing everyone what the bike can do
Finally someone who can ride dirt testing this bike. Thank you👍🏾
why did you not show the landing of that big jump?? none the less, badass video man!
Yes! thank you! I just bought one in Aug. It's sweeeet.
That is the way to ride that thing!!!! Well done!
Awesome! Goes to show you "they" are often wrong, and a lot of "theys" don't even have one to speak from experience about. I don't have one yet either, but your video makes me want one!
nice ! i love going to croom . and that jump at hardrock is enormous ... ill probably never it hit. thumbs up!
After a suspension upgrade, this bike can certainly hit jumps.
Awesome man. I am buying one of these in part because of this video. I'm really worried about not having enough power for a 200 l dude, but I think with some basic stuff - pipe/FI controller/gearing - it'll do just fine for what I'm after. Great video.

Love my WR, does this thing still run bro?
Yeah I am pretty dissapointed with myself for not getting the WR250R, seems the bike puts out well especially with a bit of tuning. XT.... well not the case.
I'd recognize those croom trails anyday!
The WRR looks like it has MUCH more control offroad compared to the Honda CRF250L.
Not in my experience. I think the CRF250L is more controllable. It has smoother power delivery, but it also has less power. Everything is a trade off. I'm about 205 lbs. The WR250R is much better for me than the CRF250L as it'd need about 50% stronger suspension to do well.

Hi, are there the stock gearing sprockets 13/43 mounted? Thanks, very nice impressions..!
Great video! I am about to get the WR250R I sold my KLR because the #funfactor wasn't there... looking for lightweight fun!!! I saw that in this video WOW !!! All stock ?
great vid! I 've just got a WR20x love it
I was just wondering if you were ridin' at Croom in Brooksville Florida ..... I used to Ride there .

Superman always starts with a couple laps of FLY! Nice air, need some wheelies ;)

Excellent video !!! I want one for the stable!!!
Who are "They"? Who said it wasn't a decent dirt bike? Best dual sport ever made. Hell, you can "trials ride" a T700 if you're good enough.
Lol water tower jump on a wr250r, impressive
Dude you certainly can make that thing move on the dirt! This is dangerous though, as it makes people like me think that if I had a WR250R I could do that too, then I try and it's clutch, gear, rev, slide, crash, snapped bone, hospital. Nice vid though.
hy bro! I recently got a 2008 wr 250r and I must admit that it´s a great bike, very versatile. Does yours have stock transmision? thank you!
my wr450f was crap everywhere. luckily im going austrian soon and will hopefully make a video like this moto!

How was the suspension on the track
Nice video just bought the 2018 wr can't wait to hit the dirt
ryan Browning me too
How much better is that go-race suspension than stock. I just sold my 2005 ktm 450exc and am looking to buy a wr250 but I would want ktm like suspension. Is this possible and how about the cost? Thanks.
With the FMF exhaust and header on there are you able to pass emissions?
did you change the gearing at all on this bike?
That was sick! Hell ya I'm getting one fasho haha

Great video, nice variety in the editing. Not that many good WR250R vids.
The editing on this was hella smooth
wow! You beated the hell out of it ;-D
any chance it makes it over the tower jump

Subscribed, how has the bike been treating you? Do you still own it and ride?
1:05 that skip is epic
What modifications did u doooski
what kind of bike was the stunt double riding on the big jump that wasn't you lol
Just converted a 2002 wr250f Into a dualsport, pretty GNARLY.
How long it take u ? And are you in California ? Cause I got a 2013 wr250f and I'm trying to make it into a dual sport as well.
super easy. find a dmv and ask for a body change affidavit. im in ohio
Yeah but since I'm In California they say it's harder :/ but imma check Monday and see what's up thanks man.
no problem and good luck.
so cool ride ; )
wrr is best trail!!!
That was awesome!
This dude should be a stunt man in kung fu movies lmao they love jumping them dual sports.
can you get some weight off that bike, by removing/changing some parts? why is it 300lbs?
Where is the track?
Awesome review/video!!
its all different stuff. what song(s) in particular?
awesome skills!
U should do the gray wire mod it makes the bike faster also taking the gov off
Wish I could ride like that, and wish I knew how to adjust my suspension properly.
Don't forget the air filter!
Oil filter wouldn't hurt either.
Nice, at first I thought it was a 2 stroke lol.
Where do u ride

My new favorite vid:)
Gee Uncle trippin if I do that to my WR will I be able to bust a berm like that?
Please! Tell me the name of the music! ;[
Does anyone know the top speed on both of the WR250R and The XT250
Sorry for late reply but on my wr i did 90mph on flat road with no wind on gps.
So, dumb question time for you bike guys!

I'm eyeballing a 2008 now with 3700 miles on it. Drooling over this bike and can't decide what to do!!
in stock form, street bike that can go offroad. with mods it can be a dirt bike that is street legal.
I would say street legal dirt bike since its based on the wr250x a dirt bike
pbbeast Isn't the wr250x the supermoto version of the wrr??
WZW1982 Yes, i don't know what this guy is talking about.(The wr250x is the supermoto) Originally the in 1990's (When the WR first came out) it stood for wide ratio (Transmission) The WR was originally a woods version of the YZ 250 (The first WR's were a two stroke) I
+amanoncrack no mistake it has the tag bracket
You go girl! You can ride whatever bike and use whichever bathroom you want!
No one ever said that it’s a bad bike lol. I drove mine from Boston to northwest Canada
what about it? :P
in this video the metal song is called "master of darkness" and the punk song is called "lets party" they are both from Freeplay Music
It’s not the bike it’s the rider!
Lol, who said WR250X is not good as a dirt bike???. Actually It's a damn good bike. Of course better than Kawashaki D Tracker and Honda CRF250R.
The wr250r may be good but I prefer the yz250f
😎👍
i think I've seen you before at croom in brooksville fl
Imagine what Eli Tomac can do on that bike.
Haha dude you kick ass!
I can't find the name of the song ;[ pls, help me
Who said the Wr isnt a good dirt bike? Never heard anyone or any article say that. Everything I've read says the opposite in fact. The Wr is great in the dirt.
the xt250 and wr250r have completely different engines..
this bike puts the honda crf250l to shame, but then the price tag hurts the yammi
I'll tell you one thing, my FZ1 won't do that. I want to sell it and buy one of these. I don't care if it's not the best dirt bike...it can do dirt, good enough for me.
croom????
Hello, I need help, I have a WR250R 2014 bike in the morning i turn on for warmer up but after 15 minutes turn off, is this normal? Please let know
I can't tell you what is wrong but no, that's not normal
the bike turns off automatically after sitiing for 20 mins at idle
people think the wr is a pos well lets see them ride my KLR650 out there... you would snap the frame! and blow out the forks. Blew mine on a little 4ft jump. LOL
Badassss
I want to trade lives with you!
ha about to buy my drz400 X)
I have a crf 250x
Who said it wasn't a good dirtbike? It's not! It's a dual sport.

Just a test, hence me calling it a test. No one in their right mind would seriously use this bike to ride MX.

Sounds like my comment made you have a hissy fit!
if its a dual sport should it then be able to work properly both on and off road?
the gearing is bad. 1st is too low and 2nd too high. The front doesn't feel planted in turns & it wants to suddenly die out if yur not keeping the revs high in turns
Fuck me man, you were flying down that sandy road.
I have a crf 250x
e those bikes and the 450x's and all honda dirt bikes kick ass
Agreed bro
yeah i got one to man cheers!
