7th edition is special in part because it's the first core set with foils and the last core set with the old boarder. But also, wizards decided that they wanted to tell a story unique to 7th edition and as such every single card in the set had new art at the time of printing. So for a lot of cards, it's the only version of that art in foil.

all you'd need is to get possibly the most famous living Japanese visual artist to do more MTG art commissions, which considering that this man literally get paid probably 7 figures in USD by Square Enix just to illustrate the logos of new final fantasy games, can't be cheap.

I had a plastic bag full of silver border cards with me, and the guy said to leave it aside for a moment, while we focused on the "serious" cards, first.

I love the anime versions of planeswalkers tho i didn't feel that Jace n Chandra were properly represented (well chandra is more calm now n could fit more their bubblegum esthetic but at the time she was still a rage machine. Personally my favourite foil is my signed n altered Chandra Ablaze with her advocating for fish rights with a fishbowl on her head with actual fish in it) but this Liliana art was spot on to how the other planeswalkers saw n feared her when she showed up with bolas to lead his zombie army

As others have said in the previous videos, I think going with the CHEAPEST most expensive version is a lot more 'honest' here. I can get a foil version of most of these cards for a lot cheaper. What I wanna know is what is the most expensive X card (be it land, foil or common, or whatever future video) I can get for its minimum cost. i.e. If I want X land/common/foil/etc, what's the land/common/foil/etc I will always need to pay the most for, and cannot possibly find it cheaper in other sets/printings? ...and as an addendum to this, I saw someone else ask for a foil/non-foil ratio difference: How about we get those at least for these videos, if you do wanna keep doing them this way - i.e. you say whatever the most expensive version is, but at least also say how cheap it can be too, and give a % difference, it'd be more fun info at least! And would help show when it's 'actually' an expensive card in general or if that one printing is a special version of a totally bog-standard, cheap-as-pringles bit of cardboard everyone else is playing for mere cents.

@@EldritchDoe thank you for taking the time to reply to my humble youtube comment. it was a tongue-in-cheek joke and i was trying to say what you said without saying it -- beware the elemental of thorns, it's an exception to the "gist" in my prior comment!

I wonder why foil Underground River is so much more expensive than its fellow pain land siblings. What gives it such a difference in value?

    • @kjmergen

Because UB is a damn good color combination.

@@kjmergen Yeah, but by price it's almost like Dimir is leagues better than every other 2-color combo, if not the best.

none of the 7th edition cards are on the Reserved List. Wotc/Hasbro could make a 7th edition Collector Booster Display where all the cards are black border foils. Any objections?

explaining how iconic shivan dragon is is simple; it's the charizard of magic, and charizard is the black lotus of pokemon.
