    What's interesting about Sol Ring is that it has a huge price disparity between the original printing and later printings. You can get a copy of it today for roughly $1.50, but the Alpha version is still very expensive. It shows that you can make staples affordable to normal players without damaging the value of the collectibles.

    It warms my heart that the top cards in this list are there not because of the Reserve List but because of pure nostalgia and love for the game. A relatively recent WotC typo is still causing issues with these lists -- Diamond Valley is a U2 and therefore should be listed as "Rare" as it's the lowest rarity in the set (same as Juzam Djinn, Drop of Honey, etc). However, when WotC migrated their card database to gatherer, the rarity on this card somehow got entered as uncommon. Typos never die. At least scryfall gets it right, as do all the old lists WotC published from 1993 to 2017. For the sake of comparison, both Bazaar and Library are U3s, and are properly labeled as "uncommon". Weirdly, mtgstocks gets it half right, listing it as "uncommon" but then noting that it's a U2, again listing all other U2s as "rare". Oy Vey.

      What's interesting is that Bazzar and Library got onto the Reserved List despite not being "rares." Really, they probably shouldn't have been Reserved or removed in 2002 when uncommons were removed from the list. But by that time, LoA was still the second most expensive card in AN and Bazaar was pretty close to it. (Juzam was always #1. Bazaar took a while to get over $100.) That's probably why they didn't remove those cards, they were already really expensive despite being "uncommon."

    One thing all of these cards share (except Serra Angel, which really is $0.04 of course) is that they've never been reprinted at uncommon. Most were upshifted to outright mythics.
    Because, you know, WOTC totally isn't looking at the secondary market when designing reprint sets "for limited". It's just that cards like Force of Will, Ancient Tomb and Enlightened Tutor would be warping those formats, those are notoriously strong in limited, right? That's the only reason, honestly. Believe them.

      @aritzmartinezrodriguez1825 2 года назад +1

      No. Old text says "its controller gains...". Only permanents in play and spells on the stack have controllers. It would affect cards in the library if it said "owner".
      And new text only says: when Su-chi dies,... So I am not even sure how it worked with spells back in the day, because spells have controllers, so with the old text (I think) you would also get the 4 mana if Su-chi gets countered.

    For the first time ever I disagree with ur criteria for this list. I don't think u should've included Uncommon 2 cards with they were the rares of their time. Like u said with alk the tip spot, it is cuz they r on the reserve list that the price is so high but that list is to protect rares. They r protected, ergo they were the "rares" of that set. Since the Dark, Fallen Empires, and 3rd edition were the cards I first started playing with, I always try to slip in a few cards from these sets into newer stuff, but most can't even compete. Serra Angel and Sengir Vampire the staple creatures of the time, both flying, 4/4, having special abilities, 5 casting cost, and 2 devotion. Could you re-do all of these price lists at some point, but using the cheapest version of each card instead? Because no-one in their right mind would ever call Serra Angel an "expensive uncommon" overall. These lists get kinda boring when we know the most expensive of anything will just be an expensive Alpha version or Judge Promo of an everyday cheap card, or something on the Reserved List. But it'd be way more interesting knowing what's the most actually-expensive card even if we were searching for the cheapest version of a card to put in a deck.

    Ok, so your kinda wrong in a weird way, rare cards were not introduced until legend’s so wouldn’t the list just be dominated by power 9?

      Well, there wasn't technically rare, but there was "rarest uncommon" which was de facto rare.

    Prrices of Card kingdom are what you get when someone just put random numbers in place of a price for a card

    Disappointed that U1 was counted as uncommon, if you're doing that then you should be including summer magic in these lists

    #1 proves that the reserve list is unnecessary.

      This nonsense argument, which keeps coming up, is disproven by mentioning all the ugly faded revised dual lands.

    Technically this list isint true cause candelabra of tawnos and mishras workshop are uncommons cause antiquities and Arabian nights didn’t have rares they only had 8 card packs also juzam djinn is worth more than diamond valley

    I disagree about the sets that "technically have no rares". There was no rare sheet, but cards could appear on the uncommon sheet exactly once, making them rare by any definition, or several times, making them less rare. These cards clearly are the rarest cards in these sets, some sources simply call them rares, while others differentiate between U1, U2 and U3.
