Not one of the top listed, but mentioned in it. I currently own a Japanese Gold Star Shiny Latias card I purchased... I believe around 10 years ago. I collect Latias Latios cards, and unfortunately I'm missing the Latios version of it. I just recently purchased the Latias/Latios Tag Team Card with alternative art ( where they form a heart ) as well. Shown briefly in the beginning. I need to see where I stashed my original cards from back when the game came out and see if anything of value can be gotten out of them. Probably nothing as I didn't have a job then, so I only had several packs from it.
A guy posted on Reddit that he has a rare Charizard. He volunteered at a kids day camp and he mentioned the card to the kids. They asked to just see it so he brought it in. One of the kid’s mother contacted him and tried to buy it for $200 (she found a much less rare printing of the same character) and got mad when he said no and that it was actually worth like 4 or 5 grand. She tried to threaten him with getting him fired and saying it was weird that a man would want to be around kids when her empty threats failed.

As one who’s been playing this TCG since the first set over 25 years ago, I can confirm some of the ridiculous prices these cards for! Still love this card game…. 😅
My rarest card is a black star promo Eevee. It's only worth ~$10 USD. Holds a spot in my heart though, since it was a promo card I got from a friend a long, long, LONG time ago at a Toys R' Us tournament that her mother helped run. I also have a first edition Japanese Misty's Tears, though that's probably worthless too. I regret selling my 1st Edition Charizards from the very first set. I had like five of them as a kid. Wish I could go back in time and steal them from myself the moment I opened those boosters. I had that Kangaskhan card too; bought it from some shop stall in a defunct mall decades ago. I just thought it was cool looking, and it only cost like $5 to buy it. That guy selling the cards had all sorts of Japanese cards in those plastic card holders, including the silly cards like Imakuni?'s Doduo. If only I had the foresight as a kid back then to keep all these cards for just a little bit longer... If only misprinted Yugioh cards were this valuable. I have a Red-Eyes Black Dragon card with the foil bits offset by a few millimeters to the top left, and one of those guardian sphinx cards from the first movie where the top of the card itself was crushed by the sealing process when they made the packs that held the cards. Oh well.

Iv still got all my original 151 1st gen cards. I know they are worth a fortune now but the memories are worth more and my wife agrees. We aren't hard on money and have a great life so we are going to pass them down to our kids while we keep building our collection. We have easily probably 100s of thousands of cards from the years of us collecting and just having fun opening them together. We will never sell them as long as we are alive.
Japanese vintage cards didn’t do a 1st edition stamp. Depending on condition, those two cards (Japanese Neo Lugia and English Base 2 Blastoise) can be of similar value today.
I myself pulled an alternative art Umbreon a couple of months ago with my first pack coming back after many years. It wasn't until my friend told me the price I was shocked! Anyhow, we recently sent it in to get graded
the Pikachu Illustrator The most expensive Pokémon card is the Pikachu Illustrator which sold for $5.275 million in July 2021. It's the true Holy Grail of Pokémon card collecting and only one PSA 10 is known to exist.
I have all the cards from the base, jungle, and fossil series, i should go through my binders and see what 1st editions i have. I know there is at least 1, 1st edition base set charizard in there. But it has the drop shadow. So i doubt its worth the misprint. I also have a mint condition Mew gold ☆ card. Love the blue so much, i got it tattooed on my leg. I have the black charizard with a gold ☆ too. Never thought it was worth that much..

Paying tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of dollars for pieces of paper. So stupid. These cards are only worth as much as people decide they're worth. Really though, they're utterly WORTHLESS, and the card companies could easily print out new ones for like 5 cents each.
Like i am not a so much pokemon lover but my mom's brother have a bland looking pokemon like covered in a case and a big letter on top written as psa 10 is that rare??
The two mentioned cards I have are Chansey and Venasaur, however they aren’t first edition, at least not for the prices I paid. While I collect, I am not about the most rare/expensive, just a set of all Pokémon for me to enjoy.
