After 20 years of wanting a Rolex, I finally purchased the 126610-LN. I’m 6’3” tall with a big wrist and the watch fits beautifully. It’s and everyday watch for me for sure and I feel just as comfortable wearing it with jeans and a T-Shirt as I do wearing during a night on the town. The only problem I have is that now I just want to get more and more models and colors 😂. Excellent video and it was spot-on.
Yeah I have both now. No date 40mm and Starbucks 41. I 100% feel the Thicker Braclet and the Bigger Clasp. I would prefer the 40mm just with smaller Hour Lume closer to the original as the new Zenith Daytona Inspired smaller Hour Markers. But with thicker White gold surrounding the Lume. Not as Thin as new Daytona.
Two watches have same crystal size but 41 bezel insert slightly larger. Sub 40 measure 40.3 while sub 41 measures 40.5. So there is no 1 mm size difference between old and new sub. The case thickness of new one is thinner. Bracelet has 1 mm larger on the new one. As a result the new one is a stunner !
ive owned the 41 thinking that its better than the 40 but after awhile of wearing it, i went back to the 40mm sub.. i understand why u prefer sub 40mm now.. the 41 is definitely better than the 40 in every aspect but the 40 just looks better on the wrist..
I’ve owned both at the same time. The 41 looks better on the table. The 40 looks better on the wrist. 41 just wears so big with the wider bracelet and full 1mm diameter increase (when measured from 10 to 4).
Great video although your description of the use as a dive watch is incorrect. The bezel measures the bottom time which is an important aspect of diving particularly if you exceed 30’ depths and do multiple dives in a day. The air gauge connected to the tank indicates how much “air” is left in PSI - not oxygen.
I have to admit that I instantly preferred the 41 over the 40 when it was introduced mainly because of the new lugs, but also because of the changes in the porportions -
If size was kept 40 mm with thinner lugs it could make sense. But producing the watch 41mm instead of original 40mm just made the watch look less valued. Previous Submariners were 40mm and thin lugs...The art is creating a different look from the same size instead of going lazy and making it wider. At watches 1 mm is a big difference sorry to say that. Unfortunately biggest buyer of Rolex is America in the world that is why we do not see beautiful Rolexes anymore as tasteless flippers with dollars keep buying them there.
@@demirunlusoy2795 previous generation of the submariner were 40.2mm. The current gen is 40.5. I think the “1mm” change has been overstated. I assumed the same until I tried it on. I think the thicker bracelet makes a bigger difference from the old pre-ceramics more than the 0.5mm. Personally, I see the bracelet as an overall win since I really disliked the old rattlely bracelet, which was actually harder for me to size to my smallish wrist
I have the 40mm since 2019 and got it from the AD. A friend of mine has the 41mm. Your comparison is spot on, agree on all points. I sometimes wish it has slimmer lugs to make it slightly more elegant...but then I put on my Daydate white gold and forget all about my Sub chunky shoulders :).
I totally agree with your comment. I have the first generation two-tone Bluesy and the only difference between that one and my new black on black Submariner 41mm about the lugs is that they shaved it outward to make the bracelet 21 mm instead of 20 mm. The Maxi case is the first generation for the ceramic bezel, solid links, the glidelock system and it only has the AR coating on the inside of the sapphire crystal and not on the outside where it could be scratched, scuffed or even damaged. There's a lot of Pros to the Maxi case. Considering that it is the first and last of its generation that has been discontinued with the super case or Maxi case.
I enjoy your video. Spot-on. I have both generations. The two-tone Bluesy of the previous and the new 41 mm black on black. The previous-generation Submariner is the one that started it all with the ceramic bezel, solid links, glidelock system and AR coating on the inside of the sapphire crystal not on the outside of it where it can be scratched, scuffed or even damaged. The shaved the lugs From the Inside Out word to make room for the new 21 mm bracelet. The previous-generation is the first and last generation with the Maxi case or super case and now it is discontinued. 🤔 I love both of them. They are still Rolexes and they are the only ones still wear the crown.
For me the 40 works best. I also wear my datejust 36 in the office and my daytona on the weekends. I have owned the 41 but for me it just actually feels bigger, to a point where my daytona felt small. I think i might add the 40 to my collection again, its a shame I traded that for the 41. But thats just my experiance, since I have a rather small wrist. Great video as always
I have the 40mm, but I do like the changes in the 41mm such as the longer minute hand that reaches the minute markers, the wider straight section of the hour hand and the slightly slimmer lugs. And of course a new movement.
The new sub is a step into a more elegant vibe. However: 1. Clasp - way too big, should have retained the old one; and 2. Lug to Lug Height - should have kept the old height.
The new 126610 looks like it has the same proportions as the old 16610 just bigger to keep up with omega and the market trend for larger watches. I had the 16610, it was a more elegant shape but I also got used to my 116610 with wider lugs and like the look of it, shows larger than it wear which is nice if you have a small wrist. I have several omegas that have less tapered bracelets, I prefer the fit of the 116610.
One thing no reviewer seems to have mentioned is how much more comfortable and balanced the new 41mm watch feels on the wrist compared to the 40mm. The reason is because the bracelet is 1mm wider and the clasp is also wider and bigger which stops the unbalanced "top heavy" feel of the 40mm that I found would "tilt" on the wrist due to the wide maxi case and very narrow, small clasp.
1 mm is a very big problem for me. Happy with my 40mm sub. Want to buy GMT coke if it comes. As noticed at the official website the blue color of pepsi started to appear as blackish at some angles which was not like that before....This is a sign that coke is coming I think...Or my imagination or speculation? But most of the times it works too.
I think that it is not correct to say that both clasps are basically the same. It is not true since lugs and the clasp are the most obvious changes. The design of the clasp is of course the same but there is a big difference in terms of size. I do not like that new version has way bigger clasp. This and less prominent bracelet taper is something I do not really like in new model.

As a 6'3" athletic man, I wore a 40mm Sub Date for many years. At the time it seemed the right size. After trading for a new 41mm Sub Date, the 41mm feels and looks significantly larger than the 40mm. There is more to the 41mm vs the 40mm than just 1mm in diameter. The entire watch is more significant. Which I like.

I wonder how you stumbled upon this exact video about changes in the latest Rolex Submariner if not by being interested in it in the first place. Stop being a hypocrite. Also, what you said about starving children could apply to literally anything. @@ScoopzyDaizy if you can’t understand what I mean then you seriously need to wake up. ITS A WATCH. Nothing more. It’s not going to give you superpowers or change your life. Nobody cares that you have a 40k watch on. People don’t actually care. Are give you an idea. Next time you see a homeless guy. Go up to him and give him some change. More people will notice you do that than look at at your expensive watch on your wrist. Trust me
Mr. Rubber Neck...In that 'Case' (Pun intended) Why don't you just keep it movin' fella... Nothing here for you to see sir... Have a great day!🤌
Who cares, subs have over saturated the market and are boring for sure ‘. This is the watch for people who just buy a watch to just say the Rolex. It’s a sheep crowd follower watch. Be original!
Actually, it’s for purists who enjoy simplicity and proper execution of design, for those who understand history and respect traditions and for those who can afford, which is guessing you…..😢
