I do not know how anybody could give this video a thumbs down! You saved me so much time researching and googling the answers and although I'm disappointed to find out I cannot cut the 1mm which is the only one my local store carries. I'm so glad you saved me the time and effort of looking so thank you so much for making this video. You have a new subscriber for sure.
Because Cricut cannot cut Acrylic. The thin sheets used in the video are PETG and not PMMA. The 1mm thin sheet is actual acrylic and that's why it's not working.
@@AngieHolden Laser engravers / cutters use low resolution for cutting wood because wood fibers are spaced apart. acrylic is not. using wood settings on plastic is generally not recommended for any cutting device.
BE CAREFUL, This is not Acrylic. Acrylic is harder and more brittle. This is PETG. I'm selling acrylic and you need a laser cutting machine to cut it. Even the thinnest acrylic won't work on Cricut.
This is awesome! My fiancè has a criqut and I have a 3d printer. I've been building a light bar that needs to use acrylic sheets and have been scoring it manually with an exacto knife and then cracking it into the size I need.. it is a PAIN. She mentioned we should try her Cricut. I can't wait to try this out to cut the exact dimensions I am looking for. Thanks so much!
I successfully cut a 2mm thick piece of acrylic using the knife blade on the "Heavy Chipboard" setting. This cuts 24 times and cut it 3 more times. This scores the acrylic enough to be able to break it apart by hand by placing it on the table with the larger side hanging over the table, holding it down firmly, with the score line right at the table edge and then pushing down. This should make a clean break. Not sure how well this will work on curved pieces, but I had good success with straight lines
Thank you Angie for this. It was on my mind. I tried cutting those dollar tree chopping mats. I used 9 passes and the highest pressure setting with high grip mat. And it would to make a clean cut. Their plastic is not thick but it is very dense. I will definitely give these a try. thanks for all the testing you do and the info you share.
Have you tried using the dollar tree mats as acrylic blank substitutes? I tried but I can’t get it to stick. I’m thinking maybe I should be doing epoxy on both sides and maybe that will seal it. I’m searching everywhere for a solution
You answered one on my questions thank you for that. So I hope the next video you will be trying the engraving tool and the Debossing tool on Acrylic, would love to make some christmas projects. I already have the new tools. You are a great help, your videos are great. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you so much. I was watching another video for using the craft plastic to make repositionable stencils and they said you couldn’t do it but I was thinking it would be possible with the knife blade. So excited that it does.
Angie Thank you again for all your wonderful videos. I have a question on the 0.20 can it be engraved on? any help with settings will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Angie, I have a Circuit Explore Air 2 machine, I understand that the knife blade you used was only for the Circuit Maker. Do they make a knife blade for the Explore Air 2 machine? I’m wanting to cut acrylic for cake topper. Thank you!
I'm with another viewer, Idk how 59 people have disliked it! Thank you so much for testing it so I didn't have to. Although, perhaps this should remind me to check your videos out before I buy a new product. I think I got lucky that I went with .020 and didn't even see a .1 option!
I'm trying to make a sign for my friend's wedding. Do you think I would be able to cut out calligraphy and small block letter fonts? or more-so just bigger shapes?
Good morning, I'm new to the world of Cricut and I'm so green, but I love seeing some of the designs people come up with. Was wondering do you think the Maker could cut something like this attachment
Hey Angie! I purchased the same exact 020 that you had linked, I’ve done the basswood setting with the included 14 passes with the Knife Blade and I’ve done an additional 14 passes and the vinyl is still not cut through all the way. Any ideas? Thank you and love you videos, you're my go to go cricut questions!
I am still contemplating if I should buy the Cricut Maker or not. I will be using them to cut acrylic sheets and other projects as well. Have you tried cutting out names. I mean like the outer shape of a names and then I can just cut vinyls to fill in the names. Idk if I am making any sense. Your information will help me greatly. Thank you in advance!
Do you think it would cut .03? I already purchased some .03 from Amazon for engraving. But I now want to create a reusable stencil for someone who is an artist.
You couldn't print onto the surface of the acrylic. You could upload an image and "trace" around it basically with engraving lines. The Maker and Maker 3 will do this.
I tried this today with the acrylic you recommended but I cannot find a basswood setting on my Maker. I’ve seen that setting on other videos but it is not listed in my materials. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!
I bought the exact material for the .020 acrylic you used and used the basswood setting with the knife blade, but it did not cut through at all! Do you have any ideas?
WOW! I have cut it several times with no issues. Maybe go more passes? Your knife blade could be dull so it may take a few more to go through. Once it is done cutting, just press the "C" to do more passes.
Hi Angie, thank you for the video. I am trying to understand is this acrylic sheet is as same as Cricut acetate sheets? Since they have the same thickness of 0.02mm . Or is the acrylic sturdier ?
For the 1mm, do you think it would work cutting the 20 or so passes from one side, then flipping it over and doing another 20 or so from the other side? That might solve the issues of the cut not going through and not being neat.
The answer I needed, but not the answer I wanted. Thank you for doing the tests so, I didn't have to.

Thank you so much!
Did you decide on what cricket machine you’re going to buy?
Agree. I’m on hour 10, not cut at all.
I need a glowforge
Did you try the deep cut blade for the acrylic
Excellent video! You get straight to the point and pleasant to listen to. Thank you for doing the legwork on the acryllic trials. Thank you!!

I have definitely scored thicker pieces and snapped them but my recommendations are for the thickest it will actually cut through.
I have 1 mm, so I am glad I watched your video. I will get the .020. Thanks!
Have fun!
Thank u so much for sharing your Cricut Maker experience with us! You’re the bestest! 💜
Any time!

The mats will cut with the deep point blade on the wood Venere setting. Takes like 4 passes sometimes 5
I didn't know that the Maker could cut acrylic. Thank for this information.
It can’t! This ain’t acrylic, it’s acetate

Maybe? It is VERY thin so not sure if it will work.
TY that was helpful and what about engraving acrylic??

This is very helpful. Thanks for sharing.
I always love your videos! You are so thorough and complete. Thank you for helping me learn.
Glad you like them!
Can you use UV resin on top of the 0.20 acrylic to make it thicker?
Yes you can.
Thanks for your reply. This is very handy. 👍🏽
No problem 👍
Thank you, you answered all of my questions ❤
Glad I could help!
Amazing video!! Only one more question. I hope you can help me with this. Is it possible to bend (warp) or lightly fold the 0.07 acrylic?
I think if you heat it you could get it to bend.
@@AngieHolden Maybe if I do any kind of scoring line? ( do you think cricut can do it?)
It will not score this material I don't think.
Thank you for this video! Where did u get ur shirt tho?
I purchased it. They used to be on Amazon but that was many years ago.
Thank you for the video it’s really needing information 😍 what the thickness good to use for cake toppers TIA

Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for doing a testing video.. I'm going to add all this info into my notebook for the future. great video.
Thanks for this. Helped me from making a mistake. Can the Maker 3 cut the 1mm acrylic though?
No it will not be able to.
is there any think u have not done, what a page i really love these videos and now im getting so much more use out of my cricut
Thanks! What would I want to make out of these thin pieces?

Is it possible to make cake toppers from the 020 clear acrylic?
Try this: ruclips.net/video/YtcalLL_8pM/видео.html
Is there a knife blade for the Cricut air or is there some other thing you’d suggest using?
No. Only Cricut Maker.
Your videos are the best !!! Do you think I could make a cake topper with that or it is too flimsy?
I definitely think it would work as a cake topper!
THANK YOU
I absolutely love your shirt! Do you sell an svg for it?
I do not! Plaid used to sell Mod Podge shirts but I am not sure if they do any longer!
@@AngieHolden aww, ok! Thanks! Your shirt is so cool!
Very helpful. And now off to cut some jigsaw puzzles with 0.020 acrylic.
Thank you so much for sharing that!❤️
No problem 😊
Thank you for this!!!!
You're so welcome!
Angie, I have a Circuit Explore Air 2 machine, I understand that the knife blade you used was only for the Circuit Maker. Do they make a knife blade for the Explore Air 2 machine? I’m wanting to cut acrylic for cake topper. Thank you!
No they do not.
I love this lady she taught me how to use my heat press machine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you do this with the explorer 3?
No only the Maker or Maker 3.

I think is not for the video itself! Maybe they're disappointed about they fact they can't cut thicker plastic!🤣
It’s because this isn’t acrylic, and people will think it’s proper acrylic & break their machines! This stuff is basically acetate!
Looking for something gold that’s sturdier than cardstock. Can we do gold acrylic like products? Need some suggestions.
Can you just make several layers of cardstock to make it sturdier?
Have you found any of the acrylics with these thicknesses that are extra king that you could do on the 12x24 mat?
No I haven't.
Is the knife blade different from what I use to cut vinyl?
Yes very different! Try this: ruclips.net/video/aewf-AXmi2k/видео.html
@@AngieHolden thank you for replying. I venturing into new territory with my Cricut machine. 🙃
I'm trying to make a sign for my friend's wedding. Do you think I would be able to cut out calligraphy and small block letter fonts? or more-so just bigger shapes?
You could not be able to cut small things from acrylic.
Would you be able to create the name plates seen on cakes with the cricut?

Sorry I couldn't attach the image. Sorry to have bothered you
You can email me if you would like!
Hi thx for the video, if you can get 1 mm thick acrylic already cut will the Cricut maker engrave it.?
Yes it will! I have a video on doing that as well!
THANK YOU!
How long did it take to cut the .020?
It takes a long time!
which one would you recommend more the 0.02 or the .07?
The thinner you get the more likely you can cut through but it is more flimsy. So it probably depends on the project.
Can you cut shrink plastic?
Yes you can. It is on my list to do a full video on that.
Look forward to seeing that😊
Are these thick enough to make earrings?
Not really.
Thanks for this. Would the 0.02 acrylic be thick enough for a cake topper?
Try this: ruclips.net/video/YtcalLL_8pM/видео.html
Hi, sorry, what setting did you recommend to use on 0.20 please? Thanks!!
I usually start with the basswood setting and watch it to see how many passes it takes.
Thanks for doing this for us. I appreciate your, time.
My pleasure!
Is the.020 flimsy when cut? Like would it make a good pair of earrings or a keychain or anything like that? Thanks.
It is flimsy. Definitely not strong enough for a keychain or something.
@@AngieHolden thank you so much for letting me know! ♥️
Is it possible to get these in golf mirror sheets? I have wanted to cut gold mirror acrylic with my cricut but I can’t find a thin enough sheet.
I have not seen any.
How about using the deep cut blade? Will that cut the thicker acrylic?
No. I am using the deepest blade which is the knife point blade. This is as thick as I was able to cut.
This is so wonderful. Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi is this a cricut maker 3 that you are using
You can use this with the Maker or Maker 3.
I know sometimes I have good luck and other times it seems to take FOREVER. I am guessing differences in the material.
Are you using the knife blade?
Yes I am.
What settings do you use for acrylic sheets for sublimation?
I have a video coming up for acrylic sublimation!
Do you think that it would do a good job of engravement on the 1millimeter? lol just asking, i'm soooo new to all of this.
OH yes it would engrave it! I did that here: ruclips.net/video/IDYTjzUy120/видео.html
Can the acrylic be sublimationed?
Try this: ruclips.net/video/toZwLlrNvcE/видео.html
Is the 020 and 007 good for the letter keychains or do I need a thicker acrylic? Thank you for the video!
They would be flexible so I don't know how long they would last on a keychain.
Thank you. New subbie here. Take care

I haven't. I have some things on my calendar to try with acrylic soon though!
Ty! Will be waiting.
Was the 1mm cut with a knife blade?
I tried the knife blade on the 1 mm and could not get it to cut on the Maker.
Can you use .040 acryllic? I'm up to 15 passes
Thickest I got to work is 0.020.
Do you know if .04 can be cut on the cricut?
I only know about the ones that I cut here.
Would the cricut joy cut it as well!?
No! Definitely not!
Sorry Are you using deep point blade or knife blade?
The thinnest one was just a fine point blade and the thicker was the knife blade.
Thanks for testing them out. Do you know if the Explore Air 2 would cut .007 or .020?
I don't think it would but I haven't tried.
Can it engrave 4mm thick acrylic??
Not with a Cricut machine. It will not go under the bar on the machine.
I may be wrong, but I believe there are multiple basswood settings. Was there one in specific that you have used?
The one for the thickest material available.
Have you tried cutting shrinks dink paper?
Yes! It works great!
Please help. SOS. I know nothing about acrylic. I'm from the UK, is .020 the same as 2mm?
Definitely not. It is like 1/2 a mm.
Would this work for the gold acrylic as well?
As long as it is as thin as this.
So you can use the knife blade with your Machine ? What are you using?,if I can ask.. a Mobile device or a laptop like a mac book or what ?
For the knife blade, you need a computer.
Did you try using the deep cut blade?
I have not tried that at least yet!
Do you think it would cut .03? I already purchased some .03 from Amazon for engraving. But I now want to create a reusable stencil for someone who is an artist.
I wasn't able to get anything thicker than .02 to work.
I’m trying to make acrylic nameplates , using vinyl and the acrylic . What do you suggest ?
You can cut the acrylic or look for signs that are premade or precut and just add vinyl.
Hey Angie! Can the Cricut also add printed images onto the sheet? Is this the Cricut maker or the Maker 3? Thank you
You couldn't print onto the surface of the acrylic. You could upload an image and "trace" around it basically with engraving lines. The Maker and Maker 3 will do this.
Can the air 2 cut acrylic?
No it cannot.
I tried this today with the acrylic you recommended but I cannot find a basswood setting on my Maker. I’ve seen that setting on other videos but it is not listed in my materials. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!
Are you on computer? It won't be on mobile. Also if you have anything in your design like engraving or writing, it will also not be there.
Would it cut a tetrapak carton, please?
Sorry not sure what that is.
Can you use the cricut export air 2?
No. I haven't had any luck with that.
Hello thanks for the vid....i have an explore air 2 what type of acrylic can i cut with that and what setting would i use on the machine?
You won't be able to cut acrylic with it. You can cut acetate but that is much thinner.

They don't look great stacked.
