This is a rivalry in one city, not two different cities battling it out. Seems like the two tragic events also brought the teams/fans closer as timed moved on. During the 2013/14 BPL season, as an Everton fan I found myself starting to like Liverpool. It's unfortunate that Liverpool didn't win the league and in my case even more unfortunate that Everton didn't qualify for the Champions League. Hopefully the two sides will be stronger next season and of course Everton win the league. :)

Derby Day copa 90, please try to do a Kolkata Derby between East Bengal and Mohan Bagan, its a game which attracts more than 90,000 fans to the stadium in a cricket mad country. The fanatism has even lead to murders between groups of fans. It is known as one of the biggest intra city rivalries. I am sure you won't be disappointed

For the NHL from 2013-2018 one of my teachers at school him and I always went at it for our rivalry games and also my dad and I had our fav teams play each other in the final and it kinda split us when the final was over

I’ve lived in 5 cities in the UK for prolonged periods. Including Liverpool... I loved the place, loved the people but the comments by the lads on here proclaiming to be “different” are cringy... Every city has its own identity, humour, music. Liverpool is only different in that it’s not different. Regarding the derby, went to one 1998 and the atmosphere was ok but definitely didn’t have the edge other derbies do.
Mr Blue Liverpool has a stronger regional identity than a lot of cities even in the north. Mainly because of the lingering celtic influence on the insular culture and its people. And also partly because of the growing Estuary english culture rising from the south. The humours subjective I suppose most people who tell a funny joke tend to sound just as funny no matter where they’re from. As for the music Liverpool spawned arguably the most influential band of all time, so it’s somewhat understandable why locals will brag about their musical heritage over ZZ tops hometown, just saying.
I wasnt born when Hillsborough happened but seeing that picture @ 4.50 secs hit me hard because you can see the anguish and horror in their faces knowing that there is absolutely nothing they can do. So horrible! RIP Such a powerful picture...
