the u.s. is still (barely) a majority white country, and in terms of raw numbers, more white people voted for obama than black people did, despite the fact that nearly all black voters did. so that joke perhaps isn't in the best of taste. seth meyers did a better take on your joke at the 2011 event, when he said that "if your hair gets any whiter, the tea party is going to endorse it." make the joke about how the tea party is racist, rather than implying that all white people are.

Burr is too general with his ideas. He doesnt really follow the details and minutae of politics, media, etc. It would be hard to to do his ranting style on this level.

I honestly didn't get that joke. Is it implying that FOX has no sense of humor that they can only laugh at something not funny like a little girl injuring herself? i don't know if any thought went into it, but i actually think that was the right way to subtitle it. that's what you need to know to get the joke. actually transcribing the spanish, or translating it into english, would get in the way of appreciating the joke.
My impression of Conan is that even though his political leanings are obvious like most roasters at this event, he's not polarizing. Oh, and he's the best late night host by a mile!

If you want substantive proof of Conan's quality as a comedian and talk show host, you really don't have to look further than what he did at this event.
30 minutes of great material that catered to celebrities, journalists and politicians all across the political spectrum, with the President sitting about a metre to his right.
Pure class.
The joke about Florida was so on point. And the cast for the film at the end was priceless. Conan is the greatest of all time!

Yeah I agree they’re are some people who may do a better job at one liners but no one can carry a show like Conan. That took genius to pull that off. Not a single script screw up, perfect ad lib and perfect character in the process.

Conan is unique. Not just that he's educated to things inside and outside the government, but also, he has this aura that you need to smile because of his smile.
I come back to watch this whenever I need to confirm my suspicions that politicians are soulless. Yes some people laugh, but the amount of grim-faced vacant stares is disconcerting.

If you can do something well and you work hard at it like Conan people recognize it and you progress further in life. When you become the youngest lead editor in the history of the Harvard lampoon, land a job writing on SNL, followed by the Simpsons and then get ur own talk show ur probably going to develop some serious confidence. Tldr Conan is a boss and that's where his confidence comes from.

I do not know. Maybe after his 300.000$ education, holding the the graduation speech for his class at Harvard and deriving from an influential family, he found the confidence to make jokes on the stage.

Conan is probably the greatest late night host and comedian of all time. You might think his jokes are not as funny or witty as some of the other actors/comedians out there, but on every one of his shows, and even at this white house correspondence dinner, Conan never forgets to be gracious and respectful for the people whose company he is a part of. He never lets bantering or poking fun of people get to his ego and it is because of that, his humbleness truly shines.
