Love the video. I grew up in Jakarts but have been living in the U.S for over 20 years. These videos brings back the days where I would go shopping with my dad to Mangga Dua. ❤ Btw..those black sauce are not molases but "Kecap Manis" or Sweet Soy Sauce in English. Different how they are made. Kecap Manis is staple in Indonesian cuisine. A lot of Indonesian dishes incorporate Kecap manis to give that sweet flavor. For example, It's what makes foods like fried rice aka "Nasi goreng", and fried noodles aka "Mie goreng" turn into uniquely Indonesian. Almost any meats and fish that are grilled use it also.

The “molasses” is actually Kecap Manis (sweet soy sauce) and the “rice noodle” is Lontong. It’s compressed rice wrapped in banana leaves and steamed or boiled. The green on the outside comes from the banana leaf and would give the vegetable taste you said you could taste 🙏 love your videos!

Aw I try to be careful but the escalator had a defect and it sucked up my sandal! A scary moment for sure. The product mostly made in China (Shenzhen Market) and if we want to know why is more cheaper rather than the original ? answer : the original product used Fabric to produce the product while in China, they used Home Industry. Just fyi, the black stuff on the sate ayam is sweet soy sauce (we call it kecap) and the thing that go with it is rice cake steamed in banana leaf so that it has the green hue (we call it lontong)... I live in Michigan, USA now and there's no place like Mangdu in Michigan. Oh, and what they use in Indonesian satay sauce is not molasses but coconut palm sugar and sweet soy sauce, and satay usually comes with lontong which is rice cake wrapped with banana leaves to add more flavor.

Just little expain to you, if you bargain anything with no fix prices in Indonesia, you should start half prices to bargain.. Usually they up the price double from basic price that they sell.. The difference in price later is their profits.
im surprise they asked starting shoes price Rp.450.000 for you as foreigner. Is actually the same starting price they offer to local people. But we can get it for Rp.200.00 - Rp.250.000 😅Next time, pretend to leave them nicely when you feel the price still too high, they will call you and give lower price or even agree with the price you ask.
A little bit advice from me as Indonesian, it's more polite if u give or take money by ur right hand. It's considered a bit impolite if u use ur left hand 😊

May be they are not fake, but cheaper if they are produced in Indonesia (i don't know) or may be they are reject pieces. For example when I went to Manchester United shop in UK, I found that jerseys were made in some other countries. Probably it will be cheaper to buy it in those countries if they are sold there.

Just fyi, the black stuff on the sate ayam is sweet soy sauce (we call it kecap) and the thing that go with it is rice cake steamed in banana leaf so that it has the green hue (we call it lontong)... Love the video guys ❤ Enjoy the rest of the trip!! And also please be careful around escalator, we dont want you to get hurt!! 😅

Thank you, it feels like you guys take me with you to Mangdu.. I used to go here often, after I got paid every month. This place is tremendously tempting, and challenging our bargain skill. I live in Michigan, USA now and there's no place like Mangdu in Michigan. Oh, and what they use in Indonesian satay sauce is not molasses but coconut palm sugar and sweet soy sauce, and satay usually comes with lontong which is rice cake wrapped with banana leaves to add more flavor.

Just little expain to you, if you bargain anything with no fix prices in Indonesia, you should start half prices to bargain.. Usually they up the price double from basic price that they sell.. The difference in price later is their profits.

im surprise they asked starting shoes price Rp.450.000 for you as foreigner. Is actually the same starting price they offer to local people. But we can get it for Rp.200.00 - Rp.250.000 😅Next time, pretend to leave them nicely when you feel the price still too high, they will call you and give lower price or even agree with the price you ask.

May be they are not fake, but cheaper if they are produced in Indonesia (i don't know) or may be they are reject pieces. For example when I went to Manchester United shop in UK, I found that jerseys were made in some other countries. Probably it will be cheaper to buy it in those countries if they are sold there.
