That could have been written better, and narrated a lot better. The essay's author loved the word cynical a bit too much and attributed it to ideas far too casually. It also never really gets its point across, if the idea is why does Conan follow such a god; well that's not really discussed beyond a vague critique of Howard, only without any evidence so the Howard discussed is just a strawman. Too bad, I like that character, the world, and I appreciate the author, this essay could use a lot of work and does the topic little justice.
