18:21 Man the way zackray did Tea's signature arms-crossed pose after hitting him with the ROB 0-death had me reeling with laughter. What a wacky matchup.
Such a fun tournament to stay up and watch, lots of cool characters and players did well and seeing acola not win was a welcome surprise. Im just still bitter that tsubaki didn't top 8 when he was so close 😭😭 great video :)
This tournament was really cool to watch! Flow especially was very entertaining Respect for the Tears of the Kingdom music choices. Moragia fight is such a dope track, and sets the stage perfectly for a high stakes battle
Really glad to see someone making this type of content! If I might make some recommendations, maybe play some of the set’s hype gameplay while going over the contenders’ backstory at the tournament-I found myself skipping over much of the gameplay montage (though I did see a good chunk of the tournament). That said, stuff like the entirety of the Tea-Zackray set was insane, and a brief commentary of the zero-to-deaths and the personas the players put on with their interactions with the camera would be so sick. I also really liked the background you gave with Kanninabe’s interactions with Light, or Hurt’s recent underdog success! More of that would be awesome, with stuff like set records (Shuton being 5-1 on Light makes Kanninabe’s upset even more insane) or matchup considerations for example. Anything context can make the set’s result more hype. Another thing I really liked was the top 8 bracket slowly being filled in as the video went on, super informative and good for showing the top 8 progression! Screenshots of the actual bracket (with and/or without scores reported) as it happens would also help this idea of the progression, and add tension to a set to come. Some things that were good but could’ve been highlighted more were underdog runs! Stuff like Tsubaki’s journey to 9th or other high SPR/UFs would’ve been awesome to see more of. That said, I totally get how hard it is to make a video like this, so I really respect all the effort you put into this. Thanks for making this summary content, it’s always a fun watch, and I’m really impressed with the speed of your coverage o7
watching miya play was actually the combination of an absolutely broken to horse shit character and a player playing at the peak of their powers. I don’t think I’ll see a player play that good for a long time.
it's really cool seeing how much Zackray has grown up. From the young wolf player at Genesis 6, to the godlike character specialist he is now. Can't wait to see more of him.
He said he dislikes playing against Sparg0 and said that it was top 3 worst G&W matchup. Not that he doesn’t like Sparg0 as a person, Sparg0 is just the only who can compete with him right now (besides Acola of course)
Gotta say my favorite game from the entire tournament, and I'd even say the entire year, was Kaninabe vs Shuton game 4. Shuton didn't win like I wanted, but that game was so hype. Not the best set of the year (don't know what I'd choose for that), but definitely the best game of the year imo
acola getting 2nd doesnt reflect what happened in this tournament, he dropped a ton of games, way more than you're used to see him drop, it's not just Miya that's starting to figure out acola, its the region itself (and flow apparently)
Wow. Top level Steve and a top level Kazuya in attendance and a character that actually has to play neutral came out on top. Miya played out of his mind.
He didn't. He did get upset by Flow no doubt, but he ended up getting knocked out by Yaura, who was seeded to beat him anyway (he was seeded 16th, Yaura was seeded 12th) and ending at 25th. As good as he has seemed overseas, Proto has never really been a unquestionably dominant top 5 player in Japan, only a regular top player, since Japan has always been a very volatile upset-heavy region.
Man, I feel bad for kaninabe. Bro got hit at zero and lost. I guess you could say he wasn’t SDI’ing hard enough, but there’s no reason that a damn jab should link into that so easily. Steve was only at 32%, too.
Even if you SDI that perfectly (for a human) you still get hit with the finisher, just not spiked...which *should* still result in your death as fox. Steve is just an awfully designed character.
@@deadeyed2454 From what I know, it works best on Fox as the fastest faller in the game. I believe it’ll still work on other characters, but they usually have an easier time SDI’ing out if they’re floatier. Even if Fox is affected the most by the combo, I still think it’s ridiculous that he was hit at 0% while acola was at ~30% and died. It wasn’t even super complex or anything, either; legit just walking jab into fair. Even with perfect SDI, he’d still likely have gotten knocked far offstage.
I'm pretty sure this is the first time that Tea defeated Zackray in tournament, so idk how much of a rivalry it really is. It was funny seeing both players troll each other.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 Oh, I am not denying that and I am sorry for my poor choice of words. They just showed such nice chemistry and made the set look really fun to watch, which is why I assumed that they had known each other privately or from other sets. Thanks for informing me!
@@saihberg2555 I also assume that they know each other privately, but I don't know for sure. And they did play sets between each other before, but Zackray always won.
I don't think any player can be super consistent in Japan. Zackray and Miya are the exception. Acola is obviously the best now, but Steve and kasuya are too. broken
Zackray seems like the coolest dude his vibe is immaculate
Fr
Why does he go dark pit over normal pit?
because dark pitt has auto SDI @@dzyer8359
@dzyer8359 dark pit has bigger hit boxes and easier to land combos with.
Almost as cool as me fr
Tea Zackray was such a fun set, both phenomenal players with great performances both in and out of game

flows run at this event was incredible,, beating Jogibu and Proto and losing Game 5 to both Acola and Hurt
Hurt beat Flow 3-0 but impressive run regardless
shambolay
Theres definitely some rivalries rekindling here. Love it. Miya and acola are in a category by itself
Pretty nice to see a return to form from tea
I really want to see more of the Pac-Man. Low-key galaga combos are some of the coolest-looking shit in Ultimate.
quality off the charts, love and appreciate the videos 🤞🏼🖤

Great to see Yoshidora, Tea and Zackray back at the top, Japan seems to have an endless stream of cracked players but these guys are so cool
fantastic overview!
im so glad to know that zackray is still a top 10 player even after his time away.
That thumbnail is amazing, lol great job
Now Acola is going to actually start using any Steve tech whatsoever and things will be back to normal.
I've never heard the Japan crowd this hype. What a tournament
They were applauding in a manner like a fire drill
About that, kagaribi staff said that they set new mike to catch audience voices to make it fun from this tournament.

MiYa’s game and watch is just mind games, he always switched up his combos and kill confirms, it’s great
The drip from Zackray 👑
Kaninabe makes the best run of the tourney, only to get jabbed by Steve two times for zero to deaths. What a depressing end to his amazing run.
