@brendenlim2158 it's not really bad MUs. Fox and Aegis are Sonic's worst 2 and he plays them a lot more aggressive than others. He plays slow/campy/spin heavy for a few reasons. Ken has a way more campy playstyle compared to Sonix, if he was more aggressive he would probably beat Acola. If you watch MiYa beat Acola, you can see how overboard aggressive he is to avoid Steve camping. Never have I seen more aggressive players playing than when they face Steve. Ken is just so much more campy than Sonix and that’s why he will never beat Acola in his current state
acola is clearly a very talented and gifted player, but I can't stop thinking that he is still carried by his steve's complexity. as soon as someone figures him out they become a wall, it's like he has reversed the process of bracket demons; he never has any issues until one player figures him out and then suddenly a new bracket demon has spawned (e.g. sparg0, sonix, & miya). not being able to counter adapt your gameplan once someone has you downloaded is a clear sign of over relying on one gameplan - a complex and powerful gameplan yes, but one without longevity unless evolved, and it looks like acola is seriously struggling to evolve it as it becomes more apparent he needs to. light got so close but he was playing a set where his opponent effectively had 2-3 extra stocks to work with, since a single steve jab kills fox at 0 from anywhere on the stage.

Btw before these points are brought up 1) yes spargo has a winning record on sonix. But they've played like 70 times and sonix has 25 or so wins. And that is all time. Recent time it's almost 50/50 2) having a winning record on someone doesn't make them better. Overall results make them better. If this were the case there are plenty of players with a winning record on spargo. Doesn't make them better than spargo. Sonix is way more consistent with SSC being the only time he misses his seed

@@j.ovinnn I also think sonix is the only one without a true bracket demon. Whoever he faces he can win, where as a lot of others have people they get stuck in (like spargo against Samus players or acola vs spargo etc) He does have an issue with that one Mii Gunner but it's more sporadic
@@OranguBANG I feel like spargos been getting a bad reputation for being inconsistent when he’s only missed two top 8s even though they 2 of the three biggest tournaments of the year. hey man are you using a weird format to import media or for rendering or something? it's clearly a 1080p60 file since youtube has processed it as such, but in practice it's like I'm watching 720p30 at best, and the colours are a bit weird in this video too. it might just be me but I don't think it is; no shade on you for it, you do fantastic work, but maybe something to look into since the game you're covering is 60fps and it can feel a lil disjointed to watch 30fps footage of it.
Sonix choice of character, play style and general vibe is problematic. He’s not a good posterboy for this game. Steve is OP but not nearly as problematic as Sonic when it comes to killing the entertainment of watching a grand finals. @@Alaspooryorick98I feel like carried is just a bad word to use in general because you could argue everyone is carried by something, and picking a better character is just part of the game. We should consider character picking as just another choice, because it's not like a low tier player was forced to play a low tier, they purposefully chose to. We shouldn't blame the best of the best for making a better decision.
@@randomzergling I disagree lol Sure you can say Isabelle is carried because she's good at camping under a plat and is rewarded for it, but character strengths don't exist in a vacuum, they exist within the framework of the rulesets that we literally made up, the problem is the current ruleset i.e stage list + characters creates both and unfun and uncompetitive environment. So yeah respectfully I disagree with you wholeheartedly on your analysis of the situation
Every game has their abbreviations, it’s usually short for tournament names, stages, characters, and more. You just gotta learn or not care about it it
@@xanander4693agreed, Ken is the sonic that is unfun to watch. Ken is basically old Sonix gameplay, campy and incredibly unclean (the amount of times Sonix SD’d a year ago in tournaments was too may to count). Nowadays, Sonix is much more aggressive and interesting to watch
The whole point of seeding is to correctly place characters against each other or as closely as possible, in-order to avoid Top 8's with duplicates of 3 or over of a single character, whilst simultaneously attempting to ensure players continue to encounter previously fought players, as well as newer encounters, so that you don't see Little Timmy in Top 8, meanwhile Sparg0 v MKLeo is being played for Top 96. It's a lot more intricate than you'd realise, so don't say it's useless, when players aren't attempting to match their seeds, but surpass it. There's hundreds of players in these events, with only 8 spots for a cash prize in Top 8. Seeding is bound to become inconsistent, when players encounter unique bracket paths, against familiar & unfamiliar players of all skill levels.
Two Peaches, two Sonics, two Foxes, a GnW, and a Steve. To say this game is dead would be a *massive* understatement. Not only is there barely any character diversity anymore, but the characters that win are some of the most boring characters in the history of platform fighting games. The most recent supermajor before this one had a Sonic, an Aegis, a Rosa, a Corrin, a Roy, a Peach, a G&W and a Rob in top 8. Literally as many characters as players. But even for Port Priority 8, if you look at the 24 people who made top 32 but not top 8, there are 27 different characters if I'm not miscounting, and out of those characters, only two of them were also present in top 8.

Vs tweek’s diddy. Well, just place a banana on the stage and there’s no way sonix is approaching u lol.
Ken has a way more campy playstyle compared to Sonix, if he was more aggressive he would probably beat Acola. If you watch MiYa beat Acola, you can see how overboard aggressive he is to avoid Steve camping. Never have I seen more aggressive players playing than when they face Steve. Ken is just so much more campy than Sonix and that’s why he will never beat Acola in his current state
Ultimate is in a good shape ❤️
I know he didn't make top 8 but I'm happy to See Kola playing well again
My goat wutever floats 🙏
went to port priority last night and it was insane double fox face off armadillo vs mk leo kaninabe vs leo and tweek it was insane
acola is clearly a very talented and gifted player, but I can't stop thinking that he is still carried by his steve's complexity.
as soon as someone figures him out they become a wall, it's like he has reversed the process of bracket demons; he never has any issues until one player figures him out and then suddenly a new bracket demon has spawned (e.g. sparg0, sonix, & miya).
not being able to counter adapt your gameplan once someone has you downloaded is a clear sign of over relying on one gameplan - a complex and powerful gameplan yes, but one without longevity unless evolved, and it looks like acola is seriously struggling to evolve it as it becomes more apparent he needs to.
light got so close but he was playing a set where his opponent effectively had 2-3 extra stocks to work with, since a single steve jab kills fox at 0 from anywhere on the stage.
One last bang for Smash Ultimate before the community guidelines. Glad we can get this as would likely be a a golden moment and the last hurrah for Smash competitors.
You’re crazy to not include that umeki parasol recovery vs muteace in the montage
No NA vs the world/Japan crew battle. 0/10 tournament.
Jk. This event was amazing, Umeki vs Muteace and Kaninabe vs light were my favorite sets
Glad to see NA represent and show it's not as bad as the other regions 🙏
Especially since Beastmodepaul destroyed the top EU players
Beastmodepaul having his second half of 2023 coming out party. So cool to see him put Hero out there, Sparkle (I think that’s his name) also showed a solid Hero at this tourney
I'm really curious to see what Gluto will say about his run and his loss to beastmodepaul.
@@legrandliseurtri7495 who else did he lose to?
@@GuavasGaming He lost to Tea 3-0. A bit surprising considering how their most recent set went(3-1 in Gluto's favor, with a three stock and a two stock).
Sonix is #1 in the world change my mind
Btw before these points are brought up
1) yes spargo has a winning record on sonix. But they've played like 70 times and sonix has 25 or so wins. And that is all time. Recent time it's almost 50/50
2) having a winning record on someone doesn't make them better. Overall results make them better. If this were the case there are plenty of players with a winning record on spargo. Doesn't make them better than spargo. Sonix is way more consistent with SSC being the only time he misses his seed
@@OranguBANGI just feel like Sonixs need more wins spargo won bobc 5, smash factor x,and other majors acola won smash con, and like every japan event outside of the one he just lost to Miya, has rise and grind kagabri 10 Sonix hasn’t won anything outside of this which is a huge win maybe the best in the history of ultimate. Skill level wise right now you can make the case for him but in terms of results no. However if he ends up winning watch the Throne he could end up being number one.!
@@j.ovinnn way more consistent than spargo. Spargo has more wins yes, but he constantly placing outside of his seed, gets upset before top 32 even starts, etc.
Sonix always is making it to final 8 and half the time second place. As I stated above the only time I ever seen sonix do horrible is ssc
@@j.ovinnn I also think sonix is the only one without a true bracket demon. Whoever he faces he can win, where as a lot of others have people they get stuck in (like spargo against Samus players or acola vs spargo etc)
He does have an issue with that one Mii Gunner but it's more sporadic
@@OranguBANG I feel like spargos been getting a bad reputation for being inconsistent when he’s only missed two top 8s even though they 2 of the three biggest tournaments of the year. However I do agree with you sonixs is the more consistent player but I wouldn’t say it by a huge margin. And in terms of bracket demons Lights record against sonixs is phenomenal and spargo beats sonix most of the time they play. Spargo legit the only check for sonix if it wasn’t for spargo sonix would be clearing everyone because most of the time light doesn’t make it as far in bracket as sonixs .
Sonix is my favorite player and I’m tired of pretending he’s not
As predicted, Ristermice takes the W
As a pure Melee player the only reason I even care about Ultimate is because of you! When I heard PP8 was done I thought out loud about when the Rister Mice video would be out, thanks for the sacrifices you make, King ❤
No Sparg0 in stop 8?
Kaninabe had to have stolen the show, despite the dumb USA chants and the crowd constantly cheering against him his wins over mkleo tweek and onin had got my throat sore
Poor Leo ... i think he could have won if he got past Kaninabe.
I would gave favored him vs Acola and Miya. 50/50 vs Sonix.
He lost pretty bad to Acola last time they met in bracket I'm pretty sure, I wouldn't have him favoured.
@@tomrejor4842and he destroyed Acola 2 times prior to that. He definitely played sloppy vs Acola last time. Actually he played horrible that entire weekend against everyone.
I think he would be ok today vs Acola.
@@LoadedKlipAll statistics of MKLeo from the Ludwig Smash Invitational and before that are irrelevant.
@@MotivatedStudent2000 disagree.
I think the players have evolved for sure but not to the point that those matches dont matter.
Sonix and acola was a set I didn’t know I wanted to see. Such an interesting match up
Another day, another example of a better PLAYER than Acola figuring out his character and destroying him.
hey man are you using a weird format to import media or for rendering or something? it's clearly a 1080p60 file since youtube has processed it as such, but in practice it's like I'm watching 720p30 at best, and the colours are a bit weird in this video too.
it might just be me but I don't think it is; no shade on you for it, you do fantastic work, but maybe something to look into since the game you're covering is 60fps and it can feel a lil disjointed to watch 30fps footage of it.
Sonix choice of character, play style and general vibe is problematic. He’s not a good posterboy for this game.
Steve is OP but not nearly as problematic as Sonic when it comes to killing the entertainment of watching a grand finals.
Harassing a player is never ok but it’s just inevitable that there will be hate for this running away play style.
Sonic is a good poster boy because he shows you how it is.
@@justice8718that hug between Light and Kaninabe is how it is. Could you imagine Sonix huggning Ken like that after losing the ditto? He’d probably run home and write on twitter how “Ken doesn’t play Sonic the right way”.
@@AndreasSaagi mean, Ken is a million times more campy than Sonix. I wouldn’t doubt he would post something like that if he was salty
What's wrong with sonix lmao? Profesional hater out here. Sonix is chill af last I met him, and he's playing pretty aggressive.
@@randomzergling I think Sonix seems like a really chill person and polite sportsman too. Playing aggressive? Watch this game and tell me that again 😅 I’m glad he hasn’t become as dominant as I feared at the time of this video
What is a TO?
Tournament Organizer
Sonix new number 1?
Man. I am the biggest sonic hater alive but holy smokes Sonix played the best smash ultimate I've ever seen this tournament, out of this world
You aren’t the biggest sonic hater if you respect a sonic player, at least the haters are maturing
@@farewell418 eh I use hater loosely I guess cause I'm not one of the ignorant bandwagoners, I think Sonic is a relatively carried character but that doesn't mean any of his players necessarily are.
@@randomzergling I disagree lol
Sure you can say Isabelle is carried because she's good at camping under a plat and is rewarded for it, but character strengths don't exist in a vacuum, they exist within the framework of the rulesets that we literally made up, the problem is the current ruleset i.e stage list + characters creates both and unfun and uncompetitive environment. So yeah respectfully I disagree with you wholeheartedly on your analysis of the situation
Armadillo lost to mkleo and yaura, just kinda unlucky.

You say a lot of abbreviations that not all of us get. What is TO? what is RSP? Speak English for the rest of us please lol SPR ?
Every game has their abbreviations, it’s usually short for tournament names, stages, characters, and more. You just gotta learn or not care about it it
I think EVO 2019 was more stacked, but probably not more densely stacked given that it had over 3x the number of players.
miya let so many leads go, next time he will get him
I am really not a fan of sonix as a viewer. But my god, respect to that man for just tearing through this tournament.
Sonix is KING
Kazuya >>> Unattr*ctive Aegis players and apologists. Kazuya is the most attractive character in Ultimate 🔥🔥🔥

@@Peachy_Peachy Yes, I do. That is the message I wanted to convey. Riddles is hot af when he plays Kazuya. With Terry, he is a weakling.
Sonic wins go up. Viewership goes down. Such a boring character to watch (this isn't hate on the player, just the character)
Haha nope. Sonix is fun to watch
Seeding is so useless. A tournament has never finished according to those numbers…
@@SussyBaka_irl thanks for that. I do see the point of it now. Seeding is more for matchup placements and not about who will come in 1st 2nd 3rd…
@@LazyNinjass Yeah unfortunately a lot of it is about the "storylines" and such.
@@afgcinc7206that part of the hype. Also to be fair Mexico place their seed on the dot. Except Leo who under perform.
also a horrible top8
Two Peaches, two Sonics, two Foxes, a GnW, and a Steve.
To say this game is dead would be a *massive* understatement. Not only is there barely any character diversity anymore, but the characters that win are some of the most boring characters in the history of platform fighting games.
Hope Smash 6 has a good bounce back, cause this game is done 🫡
I get sonic, g&w and Steve but peach and fox boring???? Nah you’re tripping
Smash players would get the best roster ever, and then somehow complain that it didn't come fast enough
Fucking hate this community so much
@@wariocapproductions326facts, and G&W isn’t even that bad, he just has a juggle kit and that’s why people don’t like him. At least G&W is aggressive and not boring to watch
