The progressives these days wouldn’t be able to handle a show that was this wholesome. In fact teaching Opie about love probably would be considered racist or an act of white supremacy by the progressive left. 🤷🏽♂️
This is my favorite scene between Andy and Opie. Andy Griffith may have been the first TV program to really show affection between a father and son in this way. Not just a kind word and a pat on the head, but a father kissing his son goodnight and leaving the door open a few inches; his voice filled with an emotion you can only feel when a child belongs to you and you never want to let them go
“When you marry a person, the best thing to do is marry them right back” 🤣👌 That’s the kind of sweet wholesome humor that probably doesn’t exist nowadays in new shows
I grew up in a time and place that was so much like Mayberry. My father even resembled Andy and my grandmother had that Aunt Bee look. Sure do miss those days and those people... and being that content.
He also had questions when Andy tried to tell Opie about when it’s time for a person to die after Opie’s turtle died. But they didn’t really talk about his mom after he got older. Maybe it was just because the show was still new,a nd they wanted to give the audience some history but not too much. 🤷♀️
It truly breaks my heart to see how far we've come from the values that were conveyed by a TV show like this! Now, the perverted propaganda is so sickening it's unbelievable!
Not only that but also trying to push an agenda of anything other than religiosity and Godliness. The further the country gets from God, the less they’ll fight immorality.
I’m a millennial but this show is so wholesome and pure. There needs to be more shows like this. Opie was adorbs.
I’m a gen z and LOVE this show

My grandpa loved this show. I miss him every day.
Life lessons from Andy! We need more Andys....and Opies in this world! Thanks for posting!

The world needs more of this kind of TV. But that is not what is on their agenda.
There was always something to learn from this show. It was good for both kids and grown-ups.
"the polite thing to do is marry them right back"
True gems.
I just love this show.....it just makes my day and I forget all about the time we're living in a go back to that time. Those were the good old days.

My Dad too and I had, my brother and myself called her Gram bee, but she was a redhead and so kind.
This is a beautiful lesson to the child👑📖🙏🏾
Touching, so Beautiful, innocent. "Yes son we did".......
That’s the only time Opie mentioned anything about his mom

I never get tired of this show! :)
We need these kinds of shows again. America in many ways has gone in the wrong direction.
Yeh,one with Kyle Rittenhouse, marrying Judge shroeder
I knew that it wouldn’t take long for somebody like Walker Peterson to inject racism or white supremacy into the comments here. Tnx Walker🙏🙏🙏
Where are you when we need you Andy.
Ronny Howard had two wonderful TV dads - Andy Griffith and Tom Bosley.
Every time it gets me. Every time. Amazing.
I’ve always been able to relate with this. My mom died when I was five.
so sorry Rex, peace to you and your mom.
I don't believe that it's ever explained. This segment is as close as Andy and Opie get to discussing her.
Great clip, thanks for posting it!
9Would love to see more shows like this
That sigh Andy does when he's chatting with Obie says 1000's words
Always a moral behind the story. Not like today.
Then it's alright, ain't it?
Ur an awesome dad Andy.. 🥰🥰🥰
They’re like a couple of cowboys talking about love. Blunt and delicate without being nauseating.
Sweet 🙏
Andy taught life lessons well❤
2:34 adorable with missing tooth, that is so funny after the story about not brushing teeth and they fell out 🤣
I feel like I can relate to opie in a way because my mother died when I was 5 years old.
AGREED!
Opie has the same pattern on his pyjamas as the wallpaper in his bedroom
Ron Howard was such a cute kid!
they never say what happened to his wife but I think they imply a couple times that she died.
No he didn't!
She didn’t what do you think happened to her?
Yeah I don't think Andy would kill her he actually missed her so she probably died
@Shy Cutie never said he did
@buffycharmedangel102 Yup it was how we should be. What a wonderful explanation of love
Greatist dad in tv history andy griffith
That's the 1st time I hear oppie say is that the same kind of love you had with mom.
No, Syrinx69, it's not.
what episode is this
Good one thanks!
Why isn't anybody talking about the little sink in his bathroom
What episode is this and when aunt Bea get married WTF
She didn't get married the guy was a crook
When did Aunt Bee get married?
I don’t think she ever did…she always got close, but something always fell through or went wrong.
😂😂
what ever happened to andy's wife on this show?
According to the Danny Thomas Show, Andy's wife died either in childbirth or soon after.
She was supposed to have died when Opie was very young, and before the show was to have started.
Eh I have a family I don't need anything else I have my faith and family
🥲
