HMS Iron Duke Gameplay

HMS Iron Duke is a super-dreadnought of the Royal Navy, the lead ship of the series of battleships of the same name. The Iron Duke series battleships were the last super-dreadnoughts armed with 343 mm artillery. Laid down on January 12, 1912, launched in October of the same year. Entered service in March 1914.

After the war, he was appointed flagship of the Mediterranean Fleet and participated in the Foreign Military Intervention in Russia, operating in the waters of the Black Sea. Later he took part in the evacuation of civilians during the Great Fire in Smyrna. In 1924, she ceased to be a flagship and was transferred to the Third Squadron. It was supposed to undergo modernization, but it was canceled because, according to the Washington Naval Agreement, battleships of this type were to be replaced in the early 1930s. In November 1931, in accordance with the terms of the London Naval Agreement, the battleship was partially disarmed and reclassified as a gunnery training ship. In 1932, its "B" and "Y" turrets were removed to accommodate a variety of smaller guns.
During the Second World War, the former battleship was used primarily as a floating air defense battery in Scapa Flow harbour. Received several hits, but was repaired and returned to service. He served in this form until the end of the war. After the end of World War II, in March 1946 it was sold for scrap and dismantled for metal.
In the game, HMS Iron Duke appeared in update 2.31 "Gods of War" as of 1928. The ship is very similar in characteristics to its sistership - HMS Marlborough - has good armor by the standards of dreadnoughts, as well as powerful main and auxiliary artillery. However, it is worth considering that main caliber shells have a fairly large delay. Among other things, the battleship, like other representatives of the dreadnought era, cannot boast of dynamics or an at least somewhat effective air defense battery.
