    Greetings from Metro Atlanta GA, USA! This was an excellent comparison testing of three highly rated ceramic car coating/maintence products! Kudos to you for the hard work and thoughtful consideration of all three companies. You've given car owners around the world very good, unbiased, and helpful opinion on these products. Again, job very well done! Thank you!

      @@ForensicDetailing Thanks Jon but your the nicest of all and thousands of your people would agree, your often mentioned on Detailing World and always saying how good and impartial you are, always before I buy anything detailing I look for one of your videos even the wife joins in sometimes, we often literally laugh so hard we cry, I suffer high blood pressure and you my friend help bring it down, double score detailing and better health can't be bad hey. The laughing bit is me, I have a REALLY wild imagination and for instance when you said on the drying towel test use it as a matador, my wild went mad seeing a red towel and the car chasing it as we tried to dry it, I tell the wife and we're laughing like you'd never believe.
      But on another note your methods and testing is truly awesome how to get to work out what to do and make the test valid is astounding. Your brain must never stop working things out.
      Before I found you like a microfiber cloth was just that, heck did I think for a moment so much work went into developing every detailing product.
      And as much as they develop you sort of undeveloped if I'm getting that right? I'm trying to say you take it back from finished then backwards to where it began, even to the origin of the materials.

    Nice review, thank you for doing it. few notes i'd like to share, CQUK doesnt need to wait for wipe off, almost wipe on wipe off , Gliss is not ceramic base , its a Fluorine base made for topping to add water spot protection ,gloss, slickness and hydrophobic, gloss measuring you must test in exact spot each time otherwise you wont get same reading , the painted surface is not flat completely to get exact measures. all in all very good video.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  7 лет назад +11

      great stuff guys. your right about the gloss meter. you cant really use it on non flat car panels with any accuracy, you can totally change the reading with just a tiny lean of the tool. needs to sit flat. even on flat test panels you can create a large variance in the readings from downward pressure. so for me the most important thing was to try and take a hell of a lot of readings. sometimes 60 per test. and then use averages. so I was kind of obtaining overall average before a test overall average after it. One other thing is you cannot compare gloss readings on different calibrations sets either. so comparisons were only made within each test set. so many other limitations really.
      One thing that came out of this testing that was consistent over 2 different panels CQUK after a 1 week cure has a very high level of gloss. Had a lot going for it as a single coating that does everything well..
      I know you guys are pushing the boundaries and I think all 3 companies are doing a great job and the products all have their little advantages and disadvantages.

    I applied Eco V3, in two layers, on my Lexus in Sept/Oct 2017. The coating made it through a road salt covered Canadian winter brilliantly. For only being washed twice in that time period of 6-7 months, the coating performing very well, with water beading like it was freshly applied. Also excellent gloss and very easy application. I am very happy with Eco V3. The previous winter, I tried the CarPro CQuartz (non UK version) and application was very difficult in an uncontrolled environment and the product failed to survive a Canadian winter. Thumbs up to ExoV3! Unfortunately I have traded the Lexus in so I will now have to prep and coat the replacement GLK and perhaps try the GEON line!
    Thanks for the great videos!

    Hey thanks for making this channel ! about 8 years ago I purchased 3lbs of pure carnauba wax I tried to make my own and failed it was clumpy and chalky and I put it up on a shelf. I couldn't find and good "recipes" or" how to" until your channel came about ! I was inspired by the guy in UK that charges 40000 pounds to do a21 step wash and wax for supercars and hand rubs wax in by hand and I think they said the wax was like £10,000 for 2 lb's of it. so any how I thought ......I can do that ....and have some of the best wax on earth eh ! so I got me some carnauba and at the time the only thing I could find was use turpentine.... so I failed ....but now you inspired me to go back at making my own wax ! thank you.

    Just became a Patreon supporter for you as you put tons of work into your videos! Last September I ordered CarPro Cquartz and was told it's a bit thicker and will last longer than the UK version, but needs to be at least 68 degrees so I will need to wait until March/April to apply. Okay I have used 2 of 3 shown (C Quartz and Gtech.) I agree with the results. However, I also have a cure for the sticky after application for C Quartz. Funny thing is that you can apply Pinnacle Coating V3 (2nd) right after application of C Quartz (1st) and hand buff both. All was done on a 2 ft square area at time. The end result is that my plush microfiber towels or any microfiber towel will slide off via gravity. This is on my porsche front hood. So, what you also get are 2 different molecule reflective surfaces. And for some reason it now looks like the paint has depth. I tested this on 4 Porsche cars year 2000 to 2015 911's with identical results. You don't have to believe me, but you do have to test this for yourself. I got a wonderful depth and it stands apart from the rest.

    Great info! I've used CQuk on my Black 2016 Mustang. It was an incredible chore to buff it off after application, with the resistance and stickiness nearly yanking the microfiber out of my hands. It also had incredible high spots, likely due to the difficulty wiping it off. I adored the shine, but it only seemed to last about 3 months in the Chicago spring before needing to spring for more Reload and kept pumping. After one panel, I needed to dilute it to keep it from streaking over the black paint. I can tell you that CQuk did not fair well in the Chicago winter, although not sure if thats a fair judgement of the product - nothing fairs well in the Chicago winter. I'm planning on picking up the Gyeon kit and applying that once the sun finally comes back. Thanks for helping me along to that choice!

      @@ukswiftersThe lol, no. I sold the car and moved on. Black on a year round car in the Midwest is a futile endeavor. Since then, I've moved on from full coatings to using ceramic detailing sprays. The winters are too brutal and I've not seen a single coating last at all. And, they've come a long, long way. Good shine, protects decently for about a month and very easy to apply/reapply. Great bang for buck and time.

    I used the rising star ceramic coat on my truck and after 4 months it was holding up better than any of these were as far as no top coat goes. Its spread on wipe off. And cost less. I traded the truck after 4 months so idk if it's still holding up. I will say one thing about it. I was working with a utility knife and hit the paint. I just used a towel and rubbed the scratch and it was gone. So I ordered it again for the new truck but I'm waiting for it to stop snowing so I can put it on.

    Awesome vid, great info, have one question, ? if CQUK is a great base and Skin is a great Top coat, can Skin be subbed for Gliss, ? Has anyone tried that ? or would the chemicals not be compatible to risk trying it ? And I guess the other issue is getting Skin seperate... Also see that CarPro now has Skin too, is this the same chemical copy or a spin off to compete with Gyeon type Skin ?...

      Max Burg Gyeon Wetcoat (or Monello Aquafobia) is one of the fastest/easiest ways to add a ceramic 'light' to your car. Not so durable offcourse (about 2 months), but very nice in the wintertime.

    • @maxburg4817
      @maxburg4817 7 лет назад

      Dutch79 I like ceramic coatings, but for me, I enjoy the polishing and waxing experience and I can stripe it off any time. Love the flexibility of waxes and polishes. That Wet coat is one of the best I’ve used so far.

    • @Dutch79
      @Dutch79 7 лет назад +1

      Max Burg Wetcoat isn't a real ceramic coating. It's more of a hydrophobicity booster which contains some silicium. Therefore the durability is pretty short. The main advantage is that it's supereasy and fast to apply. That's why I like it.

      thanks buddy.. yes you can mix and match.. a few peeps have asked and Ive given some longer replies down below. but I wouldnt recomend mixing and matching generally.
      So people were thinking perhaps.. cquk looks really cool (it is really cool) as its way more repellent than MOHS. so perhaps thinking to combo skin with CQUK. The thing is I wouldnt personally go that way. because what CQUK has in terms of repellency I think it might be loosing in hardness (for example)... also CQUK could potentially reject skin and skin wont set properly on top of it. In terms of combo'ing I think you have the perfect combo in MOHS and SKIN. And CQUK is a pretty awesome standalone product , as CQUK seems to have good surface characertics already its a bit less worthwhile to have a top coat on it generally.. and gtechniq seeming to be very easy to apply and also cool in lots of way.
      so theres lots of things to think about if you combo things, but you will also loose support from the manufacturer if you dont use it as specified.. but I guess there could be some cool combos out there if your willing to take the risk. but have a good think about what the products are giving you before you combo as well.

      Forensic Detailing Channel ok great and thank you. I did consciously think that it would not be a good idea 2 mix them but I wasn't for sure. Kind of like mixing different brand of synthetic oils for your car together. It may be okay but it doesn't make me feel completely comfortable in doing so.

    Beautiful. Just beautiful, my friend. This is how you do a side by side review.
    I used the old MOHS alone in the past and experienced similar results. It isn't really very hydrophobic after a couple weeks. It seems to benefit a lot from a top coat and I don't really see a problem with that. They serve different purposes.
    The only thing I can't find much information on is how long after a base coat of CQuartz, for example, that one should wait to apply Gliss. I have some and have just been waiting to find a solid answer before offering it to a client. I've applied Syncro and you're supposed to wait an hour between base coats and 4 more hours before the Skin top coat (probably overkill, to be honest, but it is the oem recommendation). I assume it depends on which base coat you're using of course and how fast it cures and outgases etc., but it seems odd that Carpro doesn't mention anything about this that I can find.
    Syncro or more specifically Skin, by the way, is one of the slickest things I've ever encountered. It was somewhere between silk and Teflon with how soft and slippery it felt on the customer's car I applied it to. Definitely the most impressive consumer level coating I've seen to date.

      4 hours after base coat goes down you can apply gliss i think mate. totally agree about slickness of skin.. its teflon smooth yer

      That was my assumption. I feel more confident knowing that 4 hours seems to be the consensus. Thanks!

    Hey Forensic guy, can you explain to me why I found that when Gyeon Mohs drys it crusted the same as Gliss while UK3.0 dries like a crystal? I would think that Mohs and 3.0 would both crystallize near the same (crust around bottle threads) and Skin and Gliss would just dry like milk sort of? I’m thinking that 3.0 is the beat base and Skin is the best Top coat and the best spray on is Hydrosilex Recharge. That combo seems to be superior in the respective categories. I always put on 3 coats of the base coat even though I’m told by the maker that I can do 3 but they found no benefit from it and only recommend 2 coats of base. They also say that after the base and top coat that I don’t need to do Reload/Cure but I feel it is needed before the car hits the road.

      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад

      MOHS is different chemically from any other ceramic Ive used. Its totally different to CQUK and C1. Skin and Gliss are different chemically as well. I dont think CQUK is as hard as mohs. whatever MOHS is, its like a dead rock hard, way more crystaline way more brital thing and it has virtually zero hydrophobic qualities. but get the skin on top and you have a very cool package i think. if you go offpiste and put gliss on CQUK will it bond properly to a hydrophobic coating.. Its like unknown.. so for me I want to use it the way its been developed to be used so I know Im going to get proven tested results kind of thing...

    Another great review John & some really interesting results. I've always been drawn to gtechniq products but it looks like the competition have really upped their game. I really like the look of Gyeon's Skin top coat product & has definitely given you some great results. Keep them coming & well done once again. Cheers Mark

    I have a car with "Black Velvet" paint. It looks black in the shade but looks purple in the sun. I'm just about to put CQ Quartz UK on the car after washing, then light polishing compound, then washing again, drying and applying CQ Quartz. My questions. Will it affect the colour of the car? Am I doing it right?

    I suppose we're all looking for the holy grail. A product that is easy to apply, lasts years and looks great. I've had silixia on my car since Oct and it's still going great and I wash it weekly. Put it on my mates brand new Giulia in July and he's not impressed. Keep up the good vids 👍

    Very informative video. I had Gyeon Mohs on my vehicle on top of Xpel Ultimate, but after having the vehicle rewrapped with Xpel Ultimate the ceramic coating now is Ceramic Pro. The vehicle looks totally different now, much glossier but also warmer looking, almost like a carnauba wax coat. Have you ever tested Ceramic Pro? or will you in the future? Thanx for your time

    Good video and nice to have an up to date opinion. Ive been using CQUK for years as a base on many cars and stuck with it based on how scratch repellent it is, Ive always topped this after every wash with a detailing spray with good beading - Sonax Turbo Detailer does it for me as I need something to remove watermarks and keep it looking pristine, Ive not waxed a car for 5 years (5 years this week in fact!) because of BSD and Turbo Detailer. The original C1 was king but Gtechniq pulled it with it being a bit unforgiving I think, but what a product.

  • @killacamfoo
    @killacamfoo 7 лет назад +4

    I purchased Crystal Serum Light rather than C1, as it is their highest end consumer coating and is only $10 on average more than C1, while still being the same price or cheaper than Mohs and CQUK. It holds up better and you really don't need EXO as a topper for it if you use C2V3 spray. It has been very good over the 6 months I have used it, only once applying the C2V3 spray topper on it. This is from late summer, through fall with regular washes with Gtechniq GWash and then less regular washing in winter on salty roads. Car is driven daily, on all road conditions (including salt and snow) and not garaged. It has done well, and should last the longest of any of the coatings on the market according to my research. It was also the cheapest option for me in the USA.
    That said, I would probably go with Mohs and Skin next time around, because it has the ultimate in water relepelancy, but I question durability.

    Great review!
    Slightly different, but Gyeon Pure is similar in application terms to Carpro Cquartz UK.
    It goes on very thick and is quite sticky to remove, however only one coat is needed.
    It would be brilliant if Gyeon sold their topcoat skin as a stand alone product. It would fly off the shelf!
    Cheers

  • @MikeKleinsteuber
    @MikeKleinsteuber 6 лет назад

    One thing which would have helped is an indication of what your starting point was i.e. what was the panel like with no treatments added at all. Are these products worth the money ?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад

      are they worth the money... gonna be different for different people. the less you are into your cars, the less you enjoy detailing.. the less you are aware of like what protection products are there for and provide, the less you observe surface characteristics or general performance of whatever sits on your point.. then the less you will value a ceramic coating. for me a beuquet of flowers for 30 quid I have to get for the misses on mothers day is a waste of money (whoops).. I do think they are expensive, but I like ceramics enough to want to buy them and use them.

    • @MikeKleinsteuber
      @MikeKleinsteuber 6 лет назад

      Sure, I understand that but I still think a comparison with the starting point would have been useful to mention. My black paintwork is particularly soft and I drive quickly and eventhough I've detailed it numerous times very fine scratches keep appearing, so in my case a ceramic coating could be invaluable. Leaving part of a panel uncoated for a week or so and comparing that to the various products would have been good imo

    Also surprised GTec did not fair better. Its on my car but I also give it a wax over every couple of months as well.
    I was sold on CC,ings and they have their place for those with less time, but now of the opinion as a person that wants to maintain the car regularly, I will fully polish the car and remove the CC and stay with good wax only.
    I like the GTec Wheel Armour G1, excellent product and will keep that, but the paintwork will be “Back to Wax” which is also easy with the front end PPF.
    I will apply CC to other peoples car with less time as it would suit them more.
    Very good Video again Jon, for me it has reassured me in my decision a good wax will be better for me, easier, quicker and more satisfaction. Just my choice and honest opinion only.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  7 лет назад +1

      cheers tats, theres so many cans of worms when you do this stuff that is the reason very few delve into it. my life would be a lot easier to just do seperate videos of all 3 packages and give you the basic info with a big broad smile on my face and tell you they are all amazing go buy them. I didnt create FDC to roll that way though. so we attempt to provide some comparisons, we try and do it in an unbias way and then peeps can watch and make of it what they will..
      I dont know about like whats best.. but Ive got a new car coming this week and I want the syncro kit to go on it. rather than a sealant or a wax. righly or wrongly.. time will tell if it was the right thing to do.. but its a the sign of a cool product that I want to use it as well.
