The capture card makes the PS2 version look really good, not PS3 HD quality, but still really good. DSP eventually did it, after many restarts, but it would have been so much faster if he did this. Good stuff!
Unfortunately this glitch has been patched on the ps4 version, but if you care only about finishing the mission and not getting gold;you can easily do it by just driving carefully, AI is always on your neck for some reason even when you're going very fast, but it doesn't overtake you if you don't crash.
That is 100% true. You can be as fast as the light Errol will be catching you, but if you brake at every corner and do not crash, he will pretend he is struggling to get you. Strange..
I found a weird way to destroy racer during this mission. Sometimes opponent get stuck by driving part of wall when turning, but if you keep driving it just get spawn back to track. However, if you stay stopped close enough to stucked opponent it stay stucked. This causes another glitch. When hover keep driving on wall it actually get wall damage and it destroys opponent in few minutes. This may sound crazy, but it works when you understand.
He is only slowed down when he is on screen. Due to the rubber banding of the AI, when he is off screen, he is simply teleporting all over the place at a rate analogous to the progression of the player. Get it? He's not actually racing/driving, just being teleported depending on how well the player is doing. With that in mind, the best way to do this race consistently is to simply be a better driver and don't crash into things. Use hopping as a way to make your turns sharper and be careful of pedestrians, bare in mind some are solid and can send you off course, others are not. This is random so be careful of all pedestrians. Your performance is all that matters in this race.
I kind of did notice the rubber banding - stupid mechanics. The flaming vehicle still slows him down, but I see what you're saying. Maybe do what the guy below, taco ninja said by hitting erol after he is flaming to kill him.
I’ve just now found out I can’t hit the vehicle as dark jak but if you simply wait till a crimson guard vehicle passes take cover behind erol’s vehicle the blaster shots will rough it up and give the same effect

Even easier than this, if you miss a ring you know you can just miss all the other rings and you won't fail the mission. Just get to the stadium without going through any of the other rings after you miss one.
@@soultribeatl6854 You don’t fail the mission after missing a ring. You fail the mission when you miss a ring and then go through another without going back into the one you missed. So just miss all of the rings.

My advice if you're 124%ing this game: don't worry about Erol. There are a lot of turns where you have to jump (L1 or R1), and you can't scrape a lot of things. Erol doesn't take advantage of the faster turning, so you can escape him very easily. If you make the turns right, you'll get gold and thus beat Erol by about 7 seconds. This is coming from someone who already got 124% on it and is trying to do so again. And if you're aiming to get gold, you MUST not miss a ring on your first attempt to get through one. No cheats necessary to beat Erol :]
THIS, this is the best way if you just care about completing the goddamn mission and not get the gold, since the dark jak glitch has been patched on ps4. They programmed eron in a way that he is always behind your back no matter how fast you go , like you could go extra fast and cut all corners with the r1 trick, you crush once and you're fucked, if you drive slowly instead, braking carefully after every tight curve, somehow he doesn't pass you...... really shows how unbalanced this game is.
The trick is to use the glitch take it kind of slow and easy and make sure that you are lined up where you want to go each time you hit one of those checkpoints cuz it's also a booster and will throw you off if you're not careful after that easy selling LOL.
Hi pal, I did this glitch, I have the invincibility power (btw, if I recall well, you need 200 gems for that), but it doesn't working. What I doing wrong? To the AI it seems doesn't affect that the vehicle it's in flames. It catch me very, VERY fast. Since the beginning it's right in my ass ;_;
Maybe you're not damaging it enough? If it's weak you can also hit it when its near death and destroy it after you start the race. Tough but no impossible

if you have Erol zoomer Damaged you can crash em into the wall an he’ll Explode an you can keep on going
yeah I've seen the tip, it's harder to pull that off so this is an easier strategy
