If you're willing to make a video on the whole wiring process, im pretty sure a few of us here would sit down to watch it. How one person wires up a ECU, isnt the same as everyone else
100% , ive watched skid factory since the start... but i still have been too scared to wire my haltech into my 1jz which ive had all the bits for , for well over 2 years now 😂 , im mechanically inclined but as far as wiring goes basic, can get a motor running if there is a detailed write up on a not dead forum when its basic like colour to colour splicing of 2 looms lol but thats it
@@michaellukies1319 You've gotta break it down into individual parts that you can make one at a time, then bundle them up and make it into a loom at the end. Like, wire up the coils, one at a time. Then wire up the injectors, also one at a time. Congrats, you're a third of the way done already and it only took one afternoon!
Please show the looms! This build needs to be filmed from start to finish! And that storm was some next level insanity. Glad you still had power and everyone is OK.
Good on Haltech getting on board with this build. Anyone playing along at home knows that's a lot of sheckles worth of THE BEST gear. Aussies supporting Aussies, love it.
Proud of you Scotty. From rolling around on dirt floor playing with carbs to a great workshop, hoists, fitting wiring harnesses to efi v8 turbo utes. Youve come a long way. Top stuff mate. Top stuff 👍
I would say Scottie looks like giant banana in the hoody, But All the girls know he's in great shape just not a long thin one !!!!! Just love him and this channel xxxxxxx
All hail Haltec ! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰👍👊💪👌 Haltec makes things so much easier and can now limit how much danger you can eliminate. Bloody brilliant and less wiring issues . Love it
On the rev limiter right at the start - class act right there. What an outstanding package from Haltech! This ute is going to be your best build I reckon. Well done Scotty. Oh, and a quick note from a sparky, when using the hydraulic crimpers, keep pumping until the internal pressure relief pops and you'll know you have the tightest crimp possible. Luv your work, cheers
Scotty, my playin with cars was engine swaps, tuning carbies and jets, electronic dizzy swap and using a timing light! So yes i for one would actually enjoy seeing and learning the intricacies of wiring up electronic controls and ECU.
I am here to see it all, show the good the bad and the boring, love seeing the progress, I watch to see how the project is developing and how you problem solve each issue as it comes about, where is the fun in just snapping the fingers and done! Keep up the good work mate, and ill be back to watch the future episode of Carnage!
Absolutely would watch the full wiring process. Too many content creators skip over it because it’s boring visually. Sure, But anyone wanting to build a car but, like me, is fearful of wiring would really appreciate seeing how it tackled front to back. What sensors your using, what it does it do, where to put them and why etc.
Awesome gear guys and a great vid. I love how you’re able to work with sponsors and make content without it just feeling like an add. Nice work Scotty.
If there’s one thing I learnt over years from years of doing car work, is what seems boring to you & I, is usually always very interesting to others who haven’t done it before and want to learn, or those who simply want to see how it’s done. And in my experience, that’s the vast majority of car enthusiasts. So another vote for “boring” detailed loom work mate 😎
I am sure some of us would like to see the wiring work, we all may learn from it. Seems Haltech came a long way to make it easier to wire up with the loom already made, very cool.
Haha well said Scotty... It's your car, take the heater out if you need to... It seems like it was necessary to get that ECU where you needed it so as to not have a tight wire path... Great episode, and yeah the weather's really giving us all the business!

Great episode scotty, can't wait for the first start up. From being able to watch this build (and reading the comment section) has given me a better game plan on my more budget friendly vp ute street strip build with 304 based stroker engine. Things i would do the same and some i wouldn't and the solutions for it . I'll definitely be keeping heater aircon on mine more for the cooling during summer i can't handle the heat like i used too 😅
It would be interesting to be able to look back at what is needed for the wiring and preparation. Perhaps you can make that as an extra video that we can dip back into. A little more work making more content but it would be nice to have a specialised video as well as a more general one showing outcome. Thats my two cents. Cheers.
Would watch the wire loom episode if you do it Would like to also see one of the Aussie channels do an assist a viewer with there build (just a simple example like someone with an ver unique or unusual build that need small assistance to get across the line) Just a thought bubble Thank for keep this of us watching you living vicariously through your Clips, so well informed and doing such a good job Scotty

We got very lucky, every town around ours was without power. Our Mecca's was absolutely packed that night as people came to get dinner, same with the local supermarkets. It was a short but wild storm. I don't know how Queenslanders deal with six hurracanes or more every year.
Oh Scotty you didn't paint the ecu bracket!!, lol. This build is going to be epic, And can't wait for the first start up. Do the wire loom as i'm sure you will make it entertaining.👌

Just a thought for you to ponder Scotty, wouldn't it be better to have the thermocoupler amplifier in the engine bay to plug the eight thermocouplers into. That way anytime the motor has to come out, you can leave the manifolds on engine and leave all of sensors in the manifolds and be easier to unplug them from amplifier and lay the leads and plugs over engine than remove all the sensors and have to reposition them to correct depth and direction into manifolds every time. Be neater wiring with only one amplifier lead and plug going into cabin instead of eight leads and plugs. Just my observation. Love your work mate!!
Yes! More scotty is what the world needs!!. Maybe a carnage 2nd chanel for longer more "boring" content thats more in depth. As always thanks team i love what you guys do and how real it is
I am using closed tip EGT on my twin turbo 4.3L V6 because apparently although very rare it is possible for the open tip to break off & go into the turbo.
Scotty a couple of things about your wiring. I would seriously reconsider the placement of the thermocouple amplifier. One I don't think those leads look long enough to reach the drivers side front bank, across the back of the firewall, inside and back to the amplifier, and two if there is a convenient spot in the engine bay you would only need to run one wire inside instead of eight. Second thing I would caution you on the CAN bus hub. In the video you plugged the Haltech dash into the hub and talked about hiding the wiring... This is more than likely going to lead to electrical signal heartache and CAN bus problems. People far smarter than me explain why. I strongly recommend that you look at a video called "CAN Bus: A Beginners Guide Part 1" by Hardware Electronics to find out exactly why this is going to cause you issues. The two videos (part 1 & 2) are a valuable watch, but 22:44 of the first video explains quickly why this is a very bad idea.
@@STREETMACHINETV OK only look about 6ft max in the packet (not even). But will still probably use what you have there pretty fast. Rough numbers from front cylinder back to the firewall say 70cm (roughly) add another 100cms (roughly) from firewall across to where the grommet hole is in the firewall, then you have to come back the other direction say another 60cms. I don't think you are going to have a lot to spare on that front drivers side bank (unless you plan to drill a hole in the middle of the firewall for the probes.
