There are a load of people that don’t really know the headaches of building a drag car and the cost not just of money but energy and time away from loved ones. I give much credit to you Scotty and heaps to your wife with putting up with you away as much as you are. Cheers bro and pray you do real well with drag challenge this year.
Scotty you have just given me a great idea. I talk to myself all the time when I am concentrating. All I need to do is set up a camera and record myself and I am no longer talking to myself, I am talking to the camera.
22:10 Very true Scotty! All the work and parts that's gone into this ute is unbelievable! I can't wait to see the next video. Cheers again for a great video update.
Good call on the shock sensor, from memory there's a 20mm dead zone at one end as well so you need much more physical travel. I mounted my gear sensor inside the car on the shifter.
Smart move with the wheels. Victoria has the current world record for most amount of potholes. The roads are terrible like the government. Best wishes out there mate and go hard!
I’m probably better at electrics than I am at mechanics, but watching wiring videos makes me miss the old days of playing with cars when the wiring was minimal 😂👌
All those sensors would drive me around the twist. I didn't no it was also going to be a street car I was under the impression it was purely a drag car/ute dunno where I got that idea from. It sure has been a long hard slog but. I've thoroughly enjoyed the journey Scotty. Cheers bloke 👍.
I was just thinking - unless someone has already mentioned it here, that the driver rear tyre might flick up stones or debris and possibly damage that trans or oil cooler you have mounted down low. Maybe run a bit longer mud flap 🙂
Good luck Scotty, i think why she is overheating is because the thermos are not calibrated to the temp sensor on the radiator coolant and thermostat settings which needs to be done, even in stock cars if you change the temp of the thermostat you have to make sure the thermos will kick in at the right temp, so i think the thermostat is not working properly and also as i mentioned you need to make sure its calibrated with the thermos, as your not running a/c, they dont know when to come on? cheers Scotty.👍👌😎🦘✌🚓🚗
Scotty without going back and looking I assume you are some kind of ratchet shifter, but at the end of the day it is still connected to a cable. Is there any way to mount the sensor to the cable where it meets the shifter inside? That way it is still measuring cable movement, not shifter position. OK at 10:28 you are fitting the neutral safety switch... That pin that pokes out for the cable, could you drill a hole down the centre of that pin, tap it for a thread and use that? 12:27 yes that was exactly what I was thinking! Nice and simple and away from any real heat.
May just be a coincidence but the ad before the video played was the grimace meal commercial 😊 maybe need to do a macca's run and get one scotty . Best of luck getting everything done before you hit the road for drag challenge.
Scotty since you are only fitting the flex fuel sensor now, can we assume when you were overheating that you were still using race fuel and running the same timing map as at the drags?
Your workshop DA is better than the DA at heathcote. I wouldn't change the setting on 2 step. It'll make more boost on 2 step in Dandy than Heathcote. Curious why you don't check the trans fluid while it's running?
silly question. why did you mount the travel sensor on the outside of the shock and not the inside. doesn't putting it on the outside place it closer to debris from road, burnouts etc? BTW it's OK Scotty, i only worry about thinking out loud when i get into heated arguments with myself.
You are piss pants funny man, I think the line that got me was the hole they use isn't the one we use 😁I think I'm a little bit twisted, good vid good luck, far out length is critical
don’t stand like a smart ass but don’t you think that the shock sensor might be better facing towards the death? I’m not sure debris coming off the wheel.??? might be a factor just saying love the progress you done doing
This car is complicated. What happened to a 6 pack setup on the Chrysler and mechanical gauges? Those days I miss. And I was born a millenial. Ever miss the old days you were'nt born in?
This is a great idea An analog category of drag car Only digital that’s aloud is safety (and maybe electronic distributors) although it would be great to see magnetos and twin points

It's like disneyland for dads. I'm sure he'll cope just fine. Lol
Yeah, it's a lot of work, but it's worth it in the end. Thanks for the support!

Good luck Scotty, you've built an amazing vehicle - fingers crossed the week goes well!
Alright bring on drag challenge Scotty!!!!!👍🍻
its a big job Scotty, you don't just stap it together, I can appreciate how much work you've done thats not on film, good luck at Drag Challenge
Awesome stuff. Just an amazing vehicle and build, it's a massive credit to you and all who sail within (and help out!) Good luck mate.
Another good video Scotty! I continue to love your work mate!!
The technology in this car is more than the first man on the moon had on the lunar lander !

Let’s go Scotty !!! 😜👍🇦🇺
Hope you do really well, so much work and dedication to this project, the build is epic.
Fingers crossed! It's been a long road getting here.
Looking good mate.
All the sensors "That's what she said " 👍🤙
Gotta love the classic Shifter action
love the drag challenge builds and videos! Good Luck with the road kms, seems the track side is sorted.
Talking to yourself has to be the best. I do that whenever I'm thinking of how to tackle something I remember it easier than thinking it 😂

They sure are
Cars need to be roadworthy but roads don't need to be car worthy lately

Our Scotty is gunna be a REAL drag car driver now!
Awesome Scotty 😁
Great work Scotty, good luck mate 🤞👍
Appreciate it! We’ll need it!

Good luck with drag challenge. Hoping you get the results you are after.
Thanks mate, we’ll see how we go!

Nah, we've found a solution I hope. The Haltech tells the fan when to come on.
Stereo
One Bluetooth speaker and your phone in a cradle
Done !
Goodluck brother hoping to catch ya at calda park

The shakes aren't bad
The haltech position sensors, do they reserve 5 & 0 volt for short and open circuit detection logic?
Where are those alligator clips for the scrotumometer Scotty? 🤣
Hey mate, what linear position sensor did you use from max performance? My little Datsun has no room
And that looks perfect. Thanks in advance
I was hoping for a set of silver Taxi Mags.
Scotty since you are only fitting the flex fuel sensor now, can we assume when you were overheating that you were still using race fuel and running the same timing map as at the drags?
yep, and yep
Hey Scotty, what brand is that linear position sensor you used for the gear position? I need to buy one of these

Because I had nothing to mount it to up the top, without welding a tag up there
👌
Scotty liberty fuels on 7th St mildura has installed an e85 pump
I didn’t know they had an e85 pump in Mildura.
What about the colour of adrenaline sensor ( brown ) ?🤣🤣
Can anyone link that gear position sensor.
You are piss pants funny man, I think the line that got me was the hole they use isn't the one we use 😁I think I'm a little bit twisted, good vid good luck, far out length is critical
haha
I must be equally twisted ,I laughed out loud when he said that.
don’t stand like a smart ass but don’t you think that the shock sensor might be better facing towards the death? I’m not sure debris coming off the wheel.??? might be a factor just saying love the progress you done doing
meant to say diff
Not Death
It's not a burnout car, it'll be fine
The reason the fuel sensor plug was up the front is probably that's where the sensor should be? Actually measuring octane nearest the rail.
It doesn't need to be that close to the rail, plus its hard to mount it up the front
