    Hey Guys I really hope that this post gets noticed on the grounds of an Urgent FYI engine issue at 20.05. The aftermarket oil sump and oil pick up tube kit you've purchased has a serious issue with the pick tube! Recently we've had two customers with oil starvation issues with this kit (or a very similar looking version if not exact), and in one of two cases it has resulted in severe engine damage. The pick up tubes vibrate with with the usual RB engine harmonics and snap of at the lower welded seam at the two bolt flange. We can Highly suggest tig welding a support leg bracket as per the factory part to help with this before it's too late.
    Hopefully this gets a view. Cheers for the amazing work MCM!

      I had a good look at it when we fitted it and the welds appeared to the done well, not undercut. If it had obvious issues we would have looked into it. It's a CX oil pan. Don't know if thats good or bad but that's modified car life. Haltech oil pressure protection FTW.

    Turbo Yoda, Encyclopedia of knowledge he is, good to see Al back with the boys, I am dying to see the reuse of the ITB'S once again and how they will be controlled with the DBW throttle pedal and motors , next episode will be epic, a friend of mine just got a new turbo for his Volvo 850 wagon and his mechanic said it was easier to install than the original , the new one could be clocked and was all V-bands, slightly smaller, spools up much faster and the torque curve was linear and covered about 400 more RPMS and also had better cooling built in than the original one and could produce another 15 pounds of boost, the mechanic said that is allot, driving the car now for about 2 months he said the horsepower it has feels like its twice as usable as the old one and even gets 1 1/2 better MPG when his foot isn't on the floor 😂

    You know when your absolutely hooked on content when you watch two people explaining the difference between going forward in reverse whilst simultaneously moving ahead going backwards. Then it hit me! We are all backwards 😂 now things seem to be going forward really simply.

    I partly grew up in OZ in the 70's as a kid and loved it, so much I returned in 2014 with family but didnt love everything it had become, or not, so left after 6 years in Sydney. One thing for sure is the mates I had back in the 70's are much like these blokes so dont judge everything in Oz by what you see as often it is what you DON'T see.
    Thanks mates for keeping it real and have just ordered 2 posters as I forgot to get the Gemini which my mum had when I was a kid so a bit annoyed.

    Please check the sump and pick up properly! I have a 240z with the same sump and pickup which just killed my stock rb26. Pieces of swarf and sugaring inside the pickup went through the pump and took it out. New pump, oil pressure was still shit on the dyno. Pickup tube basket seemed to be the cause. custom larger tube and problem is sorted.

    The metal in this one was excellent, loving the massive, MASSIVE mix of music between all the different videos. I know it's been covered in previous vids and kind of expanded on, but still feel like it doesn't get enough attention. It is, fantastic. 👌

  • @youjutsusha
    @youjutsusha 21 день назад +4

    no HKS V-Cam? - Variable Valve Phasing would help a lot. - can do cam phasing with that. Works on the intake
    Seems to give a lot more torque and throttle response from what I saw on charts. I mean it would make it more like a modern engine. Having said that most people seem to not use it.
    I remember talking to some fellas from Volvo once they said not to use gated sumps because they get stuck sometimes.... Apparently the best thing was to design a sump with equal oil channels by volume between the baffles which pointed at the pickup. They did this for the B5254T4 engine which is in the Volvo S60R/V70R.
    Other than a dry sump apparently it works quite well.

    • @isaiah9639
      @isaiah9639 21 день назад

      Damn, I'm a huge fan of Volvo and specifically the v70r/s60r. I didn't even know that did that with the sump

      I was also expecting a V-Cam, but that's not a cheap option, and i don't think is that worth it for a car that won't push more than 400hp, i think some custom simple cams would've been better.

    • @yota8325
      @yota8325 21 день назад

      V cam is not cheap at all. Would be worth it if there wasn't a budget

    • @yota8325
      @yota8325 21 день назад

      @joealex65 it was about 520hp at the engine before so there probably going to end up with just over 550hp with a better powerband

    • @juddy953
      @juddy953 21 день назад

      No need for a v cam set up on a build like this. Cost to benefit just isn't there, an adjustable cam gear can get the power where they want it and it will still be drivable.
