Great job and video guys. Might need to run additional radiators down in the front of the front wheels if you cant get the main radiator to where you want it.
Good work Scotty and crew. I can’t highly recommend enough VP Racing Stay Frosty coolant, changed to it as part of my regular maintenance on my Mule and dropped temps 180 to 165, it’s also non glycol, so track will love you.
Yes officer, it has a bonnet! It's one of the new ultra lite see through plastic bonnets built for racers....! Scotty, mate nobody understands. That's why we are the same kind of mental! Who would do this shit year after year just for "fun"......car people, that' who!! Oh, and hi there young fella welcome to the family!!
I'd heard it was kicking your arse but jeez, did you accidentally park that thing on an ancient burial ground or something? Cursed! AWESOME job to turn it around and keep going though, the times are definitely there, it's got it in it! And Matty, SO well shot and edited - the people in the smoke at 23:14 was borderline cinematic! Now I gotta wait for part 2!!!
Love it. Doing it with one extra guy instead of a team on an untested car over these distances is keen. It's punishing but literally a great challenge and i can't wait till my shitbox is built to go to the event and survive even if I'm running 11s.
Great video Scotty. This has definitely been an experience & when you look at this in 10 years time, you'll have a smile on your face! You should have started the build earlier so it'd have shakedown time before the Drag Challenge. The aerial shots & road shots of the Drag Challenge cars reminded me of the original Mad Max movie. Can't wait for Part Deux!
@@STREETMACHINETV The VS Ute has a ton of potential as we know but to those who have followed since the beginning, it's the journey that has made it an excellent build and the journey will still continue to various events in the future.

Supermang with turbo v6 for drag challenge next year?. I used to look at holden v6s with distain but i feel now its the little engine that could, plus im slowly converting while watching buick gnx's in the states. Hopefully the v6 would leave a bit more room for air conditioning as well 😉
We had had an alternator shit the bed on the way to day one at A.I.R, new alternator went in and we made the choice to sacrifice the eleci power steering pump. We completed an entire DC with nil power steering, definitely strong arm by the end haha

Drag challenge is over now so you've probably thought of it at this point but this engine isn't on solid mounts right? So tying down you boost pipe to your radiator is probably making it worse, since the engine will move but the pipe won't
Yeah I'm betting it's not happy at 113. Well this is all done and dusted you might want to re-ring it. I asked if you had looked at timing as a possible source of heat problems. The balancer might not be reading right either (although unlikely). Only two things have ever caused me serious heat issues that I struggled to control. The first was using Penrite breaking in oil and the rings never bedding in causing it to run constantly hot, and the other was a spun balancer causing the timing to be set wrong.
@@STREETMACHINETV not puking is good. When it starts coming out the overflows you know the game is over. If you managed to keep it away from that point, then while extremely hot, your not in oh shit territory. What pressure cap have you got on it to keep it in at those temps?
Exactly what we said, we arrived to find the track had been ground back at turn 1 of the circuit and it was deemed too unsafe to drag race on. This was borne out by the street meet that followed later in the week where nothing quicker than a 10sec car got down the track. With cars running 6's at 200mph we couldn't take the risk.
