Great results- mid 12's from 280HP is impressive, and you get to drive it home!
Really good to hear your sticking with the blower route and seeing what we can do remaining supercharged, great content
So freaking good.... this is my favourite channel these days. Can't wait for the bigger blower
Ahh nother like waking up to carnage
Many mang sounds on song Scotty. Great work. Something to check is the floor pan where the drivers seat mounts. They're prone to cracking. Watching the seat flex on launch the mang might need attention. Cheers
I remember ripping my floor pan with the result of take off kickback, had two huge tears in it so ended up double strength in it
This happened to Brian’s green Mitsubishi Eclipse aswel
@@colinmiles9390 yeah we had to 6mm plate our old 10 second vh we used to race back in the day. Flat bar welded to the floor fixed it
I was more concerned about the steering wheel breaking in half, that flex on it jeezus hahaha
Seen a VN about 7 years ago with a 355 put in it.
ripped almost a perfect hole under the drivers seat. He was lucky he got down the track 🤣
Crazy MF still drove it home from Calder to emerald 😂
Brilliant work scotty. Your hard efforts are paying off with consistent 12s. On to bigger and better
Nice work Scotty 👍 and a round of applause for the real m.v.p………that drivers seat! 😂 love the hard launches
Great results 👍
Please consider boxing the air filter and plumbing lots of cooler air to it. I believe that alone would make you crack under the 12.5
Terrific work Scotty, There you go, It really is worth all that effort you put in. Huge thanks for sharing and Long live Supermang, Keep the shows coming.
She's getting off the line pretty quickly now. Well done buddy
i binge'd the whole series this week leading up to today while im gettin an L67 put in my vs wagon, mech reckons ECU needs a remap then they hand it over..these 3.8s are the everyman everyday Australians motors..good on you for doing this love it..can't wait for the 4.2 set up too
Good work Scotty. Enjoy the Friday morning video's
Excellent work as always Scotty! Keep it up!!
You're having WAY too much fun :-)
Awesome Scotty. Nice to hear your still sticking with the blowers for this one. 👍
Takes a mild BB to do 12's, so great work on that pushrod 3.8 V6
That's a pretty quick car geez, and you can drive it anywhere, impressive.
Yes!! Sounding beautiful and good results i love me some supermang
Nice 60 foot -Seat bolts might need an upgrade
I couldn't wait for this combo to hit the track but man I'm excited about the new stroker, can not wait to see that happen..
Looked like a good day was had there Scotty and so many other nice cars as well 👍👍
Nice work scotty it's the super reliable mang now all that hard work has really paid off👍
Woooo! Good to see mate
Awesome take off , You can definitely tell it needs more boost , at half track , it looks more like it's on a country Rd cruising a long .
Very cruisey in the top end
@@STREETMACHINETV
Hi great work love the V6 content just wondering what trans you are running I know I could hunt through the videos and find the answer probably but later I will watch them .
I had a Ecotec with a 4l60e trans I put a stage 2 shift kit (for towing) in it which gave it no shift overlap a very direct shift it would do 0-100 standing start in 100m never checked to see how quick it would do a quarter but would be a lot quicker shifts then manual shifting with a stock shifter have you checked to see what it runs leaving it in drive I reckon you could get into high to mid 11s easy without upping the boost
I used a transgo shift kit $140 approx comes with different shift accumulator springs all instructions ect I done mine in 2 hours on ramps anyway great work I would love to see a video of the difference between manual shifting times and leaving it in drive.
Good to see yo having fun Scotty.
Love it mate, keep going
Great stuff boys. Supermang is a really clean, straight example of a VN- worth every penny I reckon. A lethal sleeper. Nice to see some sunshine on the cars too! "-)
nice work Scotty 👍
Love your work
Yeah the mang. Can’t wait for the 4.2ltr 🔥
Also loved the HD t-shirt. One of my favourite SMOTY’s 👏
Nice work Scotty!
Awsum Scott
Congrats Scotty you gotta be over the moon with those times!!
Let's get yours out there before we go too fast :)
This is great! On the edge of my seat now for turbo taxi!
Great work and consistent very impressive for a V6 Commodore you have done a good job with the engine freshening and now with new converter very quickv6 vn
Love the steering wheel flex 😍
Those drone shots above the burnout box are pretty cool
Steering wheel and seat flex is hilarious. Those items definately didn't have 12 second quarters in their design parameters.
Very good content Scotty.
great video scotty, that is such a beast great effort
Thanks TT, how's your VL going?
Much flex in the steering wheel!
Impressive runs from 6 pots of fury!
Doing those times is amazing Scotty, makes me wonder what it will end up doing with that new donk you have planned in the workshop,! Wow
I bloody love this car. I went on Saturday and Sunday, aw it on the trailer Saturday.. bugger! Glad to see you out in the MX5 though!
Can't wait to see how far this one goes
I raced the VN Friday and the Mx5 Saturday
Heck yeah go Supermang!
Very impressive for what it is scotty. Cant wait to machine my snout down for party mode pulley in my fully shit VY v6
Great sleeper. Should be pretty quick once you do the new mods. Good work mate. And excellent video footage too
Top work Scotty be a pisser destroying Euro trash in the VN on the dandy bypass from the lights going to get lunch 🤣👍🍻
it's pretty cool when a VN V6 commodore is an interesting build series running 12s basically in street trim
Unreal Scotty is this the fastest most basic budget friendly car to ever go mid 12s? I,m loving this project plus look how the old girl leaves those faster cars for dead until three quarter track. So glad your taking it further with a new blower and stroker this thing has serious potential
It's certainly one of the most basic 12sec combos I've ever built
"budget friendly"... yeah i doubt that ..
Awesome 👌 a small shot of nitrous out the back would be sic 😉
nice!, the biggest restriction with these motors is head flow... the ports are tiny you can take a massive amount of material out on the exhaust side and still open the intake up quite a bit make sure to use the biggest rocker you can with the cam you are running, you can also find larger stainless steel exhaust valves and other performance parts for these motors over in the USA as they use the same motors in the Pontiac Grand Prix. combined this with a 5 angle valve job and a port match on the intake manifold to remove any restriction's and you will see some very good gains. on a stock l36 in a vy commodore, auto, i went from 105rwk to 156rwk with the factory cam. would be interesting to see how much of a difference the 4.2l kit does before you add a bigger blower just as a comparison video. keep up the good work!
Dang that's a hell of a power increase what did that cost ya
@@stephenrossi7354 not sure i didn't keep track of cost, here is a list of what i have done. full v8 twin 2.5" exhaust, extractors, mace 1.98 rockers, light spring upgrade, 1mm larger exhaust valves, 69mm mace throttle, wolf plug in ecu with mafless tune, supercharged v6 injectors, 255l pump, turbosmart fuel reg, i done the head porting and heavily modified intake fab work myself (re positioned fuel injector's to sit slightly higher to correctly match port the intake runners to the cylinder head). i just had to pay a local mechanic that had the tools to do the 5 angle valve job (more flow at low lift height), shave head 30 tho (more compression), and head assembly. much cheaper to do a super charged motor pulley and intercooler upgrade, but if i wanted to go to the next stage and add some boost now everything is setup to do so and the motor is breathing really well while still using the stock cam.
Awesome work Scotty. Might be time to upgrade that steering wheel hey? Looks like it’s gonna snap in half when you’re stalling her up haha
A consistent 12 second car is nothing to sneeze at. Sure it is not a sub 10 second car, but you can go grocery shopping in that thing any day of the week. I would be proud to own that.
Hooray bigger blower!
Scottys wearing the kt26 dunlop like me lol
Supermang is quicker than an XY GTHO... Much quicker. Not bad for a povo pack VN.
Yep, it goes pretty good
It'd take out 'almost' every factory HSV ever built at this point.
@@chrisrosie0584 Yeah well come to think of it, my old man had a VN SV5000 when they were new and I thought that thing was fast when I was like 7. But they could barely do low 15s, on a good day. Supermang would eat its lunch.
Wooooop
This car will be a monsta...
great work scotty! didnt you have one of those ported out m90s? that would be interesting to see what power increase it does and the time it runs with before the m112 and stroker... but time is money! its good to see you pushing the limits of these things!
Not really ported just machined for an intercooler
Mang many sound mint
That rodeo party’s 😮
Can't wait to see the 4.2 with a couple of hair dryers on it
Please paint the bonnet! It hurts my eyes lol😂
It hurts mine too, but hopefully we'll have that sorted soon
Hi Scotty, I guess it's mission accomplished. Next target 11s. I think the steering wheel and seat may need looking at before long too. So what was the last pass time? Thanks for another fantastic vid, keep 'em coming!
12.55 for the last pass
Awesome off the line - getting an old grandpa VN V6 into the 12s is awesome - Curious what the speed was at the end of the best run?
106.93mph
👍👍🔥🔥
woohoo
🤙
That’s awesome! Question with the haltech, does it control the trans or is that another module?
This is the original VN trans, no computer control at all
How's the old VN steering wheel flex 😂. I switched to a vp Calais wheel
👏👏👏👏
Scotty, how fast cars do you actually like running the most? Compared to most things on the street, under 13s 1/4 mile is already quite speedy and something like the MX-5 is so much more work
I love racing, they're all fun for different reasons. The Mazda is insanely quick, the Volvo revs to the moon and is a beast off the line, the Commodore does so much with so little and sounds great
the flex in that steering wheel...........🤔🤔
That convertor seems to work a treat. Did you happen to look at what boost it was making in the logs? Dyno boost isn't guaranteed to be the same as track boost.
For some reason the datalogger wasn't working in the Haltech. Not sure why
@@STREETMACHINETV that's a pity. Boost is variable on a number of factors. What it is one day doesn't mean it will be the same the next. Would have actually been interesting to see if this PB was with reduced top end boost. Would help evaluate the improvement made by the convertor (which by the way launches great).
HI ALL
Scottie love the commodore but its just not the MX5 lets get that into the 6s ? love'm all like the kids we can go for records in that MX5 ?
Definetly the bigger pulley needs throwing on!
Have you tried unhooking one side of the front swaybar? When i used to drag my XR8, i would disconnect one side to transfer weight a bit more
*smaller pulley
That is hauling ass really , I wonder what it would do without the blower and a shot of nos, maybe a future episode
Very good Scotty. What diff gears does it currently have?
3.7 gears
Awesome times Scotty. It comes out of the hole so well. Just what might be a silly question. What is the ice box hooked up to?
Intercooler pump r7ns ice water to barrel cooler which runs through a heat exchanger on its way back to the tank
@@STREETMACHINETV thanks mate appreciated 👍
7:39 note the day night mirror changing positions and resetting it's self at the end of the run.
*COMMENT* on this if you agree fellow tappet heads. Nice work bud, I really enjoy the content. Can you please do a few videos of the cost of each of the cars?
Love this, well done, what size is the barrel intercooler, I want to copy what you’re done, cheers
I'll have to measure it, I probably say what size it is in an earlier episode
@@STREETMACHINETV I have looked, I don’t think you do. Watching this car go makes me very keen to get mine on the road, love the vn 👍
Nice one Scotty,do you think an airbox would help? Congrats on the pb
Maybe, or even pulling a head light might help
@@STREETMACHINETV cool
😁🤘
she is launching hard scotty look at the flex in the steering wheel at 7 min 38 seconds , she gets a bit of stretch in it
Man water to air seems like such a pain holy shit😂
Yeah, it's a bit of a pain to be honest but air temps are reasonable.
Need a proper steering wheel and better seat i recon it would have to take focus off the driving, love the car love and love you guys there just a observation not a dig, all the best
So what's the prediction with the party pulley 12.3 or better?
I would hope so
0:38 track prep no good for the traction of the Kt26's
It was less than optimal to start the day, but came good later on
What ever happened to the TA Torana, any updates on planning for that car.
In the new year
Pretty good for a reliable and practical car yeah it’s not going to be impressive on an ancap safety rating but as a daily it’ll drive nice and would hold its own against many modern performance cars
Supermang a tough old girl slugging it out the Carnage way. Very impressive numbers out of a V6. I know Scotty will make it faster 🙂
Good content guys 👍
Stroker and bigger blower. you would more than likely double the HP. You need a better diff too
try some dry ice and metho in the cooler tank.
Hopefully one day you can build a decent boss 260/290 id love to see a build on that
Not sure that's the hill I want to die on
@@STREETMACHINETV 🤣🤣 surely consider it would be a nice hill
Mid 12s is no slouch especially with a m90 on it
Thanks dude, I reckon it's not too bad considering the low boost
@@STREETMACHINETV definitely not bad at all 😊
@@STREETMACHINETV considering what it took me to get a 12.4 et it's bloody wild congrats guys 😊
Australian postal bank
Well done be getting close to 11s with boost then maybe e85?
It's been E85 for a long time.
@@STREETMACHINETV nice that's y it's 288rwhp on i psi 👍
