I have nothing against it, but don't you usually switch the high-hat and snare hands so they are crossed?

Hey, yes, you are right, crossed hands would be the "classic" way. Play the hi-hat with your right hand if you prefer. I mostly play "open handed" which means "not crossed hands", and which is becoming more and more common. In my videos I do both, a bit for everybody.
