Last christmas I gave my best friend a pretend trip to New York since we couldn't travel due to covid. The box contained a fake plane ticket and I wrote out a story of all the things we would do. For each thing I included things like a digital visit to a museum, a code for an online broadwayshow, a box of bagels, a puzzle of the empire state building and i photoshopped us in a few New York postcards. Very cheesy but also very fun to make and get.
I think memberships to services would be a great gift. I'm looking to receive less material things for gifts and would really love a cinema membership as a gift. Going to the movies is such a calming and escapist experience for me.
A Food For Thought Mixtape: A short compilation of articles (free online) and podcasts, talks, songs, etc. that A) blew your socks off and changed the way you looked at the world so you just HAVE to share it and/or B) very specifically remind you of the person and their interests and place in life. I feel like oftentimes we give suggestions and recs as we go along, and sometimes people take them, sometimes they forget and don't. But maybe it's a bit more special if the list is like hey, I thought of YOU specifically for these things, I believe in you. You can even include specific recs for things that require $ so that it's completely the giftee's prerogative to decide if they want to try xyz. Combine it with a letter that's just really specific about all the things that stand out about them. Maybe with some doodles. Maybe a poem. Don't blow smoke up their butt or anything, the key is just to be really specific. Bonus points if you can slip in constructive feedback that would help them, if anything comes to mind.
I know it still counts as an physical thing to buy... but candles are one of my favorite gifts because they have a beginning, a middle and an end. It's not just another object that will take up space in someone's house ad infinitum. I think memberships or online subscriptions are always nice non-physical gifts, like skillshare or spotify premium or things like that. As for things you don't have to spend a ton of money on, acts of service are always great. Like making someone dinner or offering to help them around the house, I'm a graphic designer so lots of times I've done design work for people as a gift.
One of my favorite gifts I’ve ever given was a cooking class to do together with my roommate. I love cooking and do it quite often, whereas my roommate is the opposite and generally orders takeout. We both enjoyed the experience bc 1) I learned more tools to use in the kitchen, 2) she was able to develop and learn new skills, and 3) who doesn’t love to eat ☺️? 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
One of the best gifts I was given was a travel guide my best friend made for me when I was planning a trip to Paris. She had been several times previously, and she compiled a list of bars + restaurants, museums, shopping, parks , etc to check out during my trip. The layout was super cute and it felt very personal and sweet. It’s something I can revisit for years to come and because it’s digital, I’ve shared it with other friends too! We love a gift that keeps on giving.
i recently discovered hannah louise poston's youtube channel and i think some of your viewers might also enjoy her, she has a very different aesthetic from you but i really appreciate her minimalist approach to budgeting and have found watching her rekindled my excitement about makeup without also rekindling my desire to spend more lol
I've been really loving watching Halle Burns videos, it's crazy watching someone that is technically an adult but yet is still so young in the grand scheme of things, the Bambi feeling is so nostalgic and endearing
Loved hearing about your RUclips recommendations! Definitely share your interest in calming, daily-life content :). I recently discovered the Her82m2 channel, which I think you might like. This Vietnamese family posts silent videos from the German countryside which are beautifully filmed (they’re wedding videographers). I especially love seeing how they keep their cultural traditions alive through cooking and celebrations with friends and family. Xx Jen
Nowadays I like your videos before I even watch them. Haha. I had no idea the asian vlogs I was watching were called silent vlogs! They are my favorite! I have definitely leaned into a more minimalist / low waste lifestyle and even more so now that I have a 2 week old baby. I would say I prefer gifts that will be consumed. Candles, food, or skincare. Anything indulgent in those categories is instantly a hit. For my baby registry our friends gifted us a membership to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden so we could eventually take trips there with our baby. So I would say memberships to things is also highly appreciated by me as a person who doesn't always prefer to get gifts.
I like to ask for/give food as a gift! It’s a great ‘consumable’ for people who don’t want objects. Sometimes it’s just food delivery but I also like to buy/receive like specialty food that you might not spend the money on for yourself, like really nice sauces or jams, or oils, or spices, that sort of thing.!
A couple of times I have purchased items from your monthly favorites. First time was the Anywhere Pan, and I recently purchased their new pot. I never heard of Floyd and I love the clean look. Chrisssstttiiine - you are a true influencer.
As someone who lives minimally, My favorite gift to give, that is always a huge hit, is the Bonne Maman Christmas Advent Calendar. I usually hand them out to my closest friends around Thanksgiving. They get a tasty jam everyday for the first 24 days of December.
Yeah I think a gift guide that focuses on experiences would be great. My friends love really personal gifts and things that take something off their plate like a car detailing.
I always look forward to watching your videos, as I find them to always be quite relaxing and comforting, too. For gifts, I recommend making something homemade, such as baked goods or maybe burning CD or curating a playlist on Spotify. Ordering photo prints and framing them is another idea. :-)
I’ve been searching for black boots like these FAR AND WIDE and nothing I’ve tried has worked for my leg length and calf width. I ordered these with no expectations and they look great!!!! Thank you so much for the rec!
Christine, smog is/was my holy grail colour. Bless you for highlighting a potential dupe ❣️ my colouring is similar to yours so I’ll be certain to try it out! Thanks for the great vids and hope you’re well
Re Summer N's videos: Dalat milk is actually just a very popular milk brand in Vietnam! I do love Summer's content and it's so great to see more SEA content creators
Lottie Murphy online subscription, Yoga or pilates subscription, Zero waste beauty products ( My favourite is a small brand in NZ called Sphaera shampoo and conditioner! A headspace subscription, A good knife!
i love that kristen ess product too! when i ran out i made my own and used the bottle again. just filled a third of the bottle with my normal conditioner and the rest with water! works even better then the product did (for my hair)
I use a small kabuki brush on that bronzer, and it seems to further compact the product/the brush doesn’t seem to pick up much. I would love to know your brush of choice when using it! 💕
You should try the Givenchy sheer velvet lipsticks, it's the best matte formula I've ever tried and I have VERY dry lips! Hate the packaging BUT they are so hydrating and have the perfect amount of pigment that it's never too much. Shade 27 and 36 are my favorite. I finally found the lipsticks that works beautifully creating the most natural hydrated colored lips of my dreams.
@@chrissstttiiine Yes 😕 I prefer a retro or minimalist packaging... the ideal would be that formula in the Gucci packaging for their Satin or Mat lipsticks or in a Manasi7 kind of packaging

I love that!! Thanks for the rec
Or maybe gifting one of those personality tests that you have to pay for
I bought my sister a local mushroom growing kit for her birthday! She loves gardening and cooking. Plus it’s a gift that keeps on giving 😌

On your IG stories you showed where Maddy gave you like Del Toro(?) sauce packets in a big box. I always wanted you to expand on gifts like that

A fellow Bonne Maman-er!! I adore those little jars. Where do you like to buy yours in the states?

Summers vlogs remind me of this channel. ruclips.net/user/sueddu
I absolutely love her channel and have watched her vlogs for a long time.
Definitely recommend 키령kiryeong as another silent/ASMR vlogger! So soothing and comforting to play in the background
I think a good gift for someone who doesn’t want physical things is a playlist, or a handwritten letter.

Love the video. Looking forward to the Kosas and gift guide videos.
I've had a Floyd couch for a few years and I wasn't impressed by the comfort level. Way better couches for the price point. Glad I sold it.
Hmmmm this one hasn’t been around for even a year though
I've loved Maddie's channel for quite some time but you've really turned me on to Summers, it's SO relaxing! Thanks love, new subbie here :)
