✔ Event Overview:
Everything in Power BI is more complicated if you don’t build a good data model. Business Intelligence consultants spend an entire career learning how to build data models, but NOT you! Understanding the fundamentals of dimensional modeling (Star Schema) can get you very far in Power BI.
✔ What You’ll Learn:
• What is a Star Schema?
• Building Facts and Dimensions
• Understanding Relationships
• Role-Playing tables
• Calculation Groups

Absolutely fantastic course! I was intimidated by the duration but broke it down and watched it over two days. I learnt so much. Thank you Mitchell!
Thanks for suggestion i am looking for only that
Thanks!!
Excellent work, Mitchel. I appreciate what you and the team at Pragmatic are doing. The three hours were very useful.
I come back again and again to go through this process. Thank you. I subscribed and gave a thumbs up.
Thanks Mitchell and all the team at Pragmatic Works. Insightful, considered information that I can definitely use. And great interactions from the people also watching live with good feedback from others who also are walking the same path.
Thanks for watching!
Sometines the thought of sitting for 2-3 hours for your tutorials seems a bit long, but you (and Devon) impart so much good stuff that it's well worth the time. Awesome content as always.
just half way through and its already amazing, thanks for creating this excellent tutorial
Great explanation. I think every PowerBI developer needs to view this course at least twice. Once to see and understand the possibilities of data modeling and PowerQuery. And then after working a while with the possibilities to see even more and better ways to find solutions. E.g. the calculation groups for the measures with the inactive relationships are great!!
There are lots of amazing contents on powerbi data modeling. But this Is the best I’ve seen. The kind of effort being put into this video all for free is just amazing. Thank you for your contributions to humanity
Excellent Work Mitchel, I enjoyed the entire 3 hours session. In fact, I never sat down for the entire 3 hours at a stretch before. Amazing content and the way you have explained and organized the content was beyond our expectation.
Now, I have a quick question. When we create data model from the live table (which has around 20 columns), we have to remove duplicates in the fact or dim tables (as you did in this training). The question is, how does it work when we have created data model from the live data (esp. removing duplicates in the fact & dim tables). Hope I am able to explain about the question.
Just discovered this channel and it is such a blessing!
I didn't sign up for this, but glad to watch through. Great explanations, easy to follow, and loved the Calculated Groups! Thanks for posting this for us!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent course. Now I know a lot of more about Power BI related data modelling. A lot of thanks for instructor.
Thank you immensely! Every moment in this video is worth watching and contributes to enhancing one's understanding of data modeling.

I am currently preparing for a BI developer interview and accidently found this. Thank you Mitchell this is solid explanation and good demonstration of data modelling knowledge using understandable case study! Thanks for posting this live for us :)
How'd it go?
How did it go?
Thank you for this video, you are demonstrating how to take a regular table and make a fact and dimension tables. Really starting from scratch. Super important.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you So much Mitchell for wonderful course. This is my first video that i have completed and learnt and understood the data modeling in a better way. I'm looking forward to look out all your videos and gain extensive knowledge on Power BI. Great Job Mitchell. 🙂

Thank you for the wonderful tutorial on Data Modelling in Power BI.
Awesome presentation! Thanks to you Mitchell and Pragmatic Works! :)
Hi Mitchel. Thanks for sharing this great training. Since I'm leaving in Quebec, Canada, I'm having a problem replacing the unit Cost & Price value to the US origin file value, they appear in text value not in the decimal value. When I look at the origin of the file ite indicates 1251: West of Europe. I've tried to change it to 437: OEM US so that I can use your data in power querry but each time when I wan't to remove duplicates I've a error message. Is there a way that I can use the data and not have to change my cumputer settings. Thanks for posting, very instructive.
Loved this video, it is simple and to the point. Thank you!!! Mitchel
Thanks, Mitchel for investing your valuable time in us!
My pleasure!
@@PragmaticWorks Greetings from Bangalore India 👍
What a fantastic class!! I really thank you and your team for giving these full courses on youtube. I learned a lot and I need to watch it again 😂. Great job!! I do have a question in which I did not see in this course.
I import to my Power Bi report from a data model I created in excel. But when I refresh my Power Bi to extract new data from my data model in excel, the new added information is not refreshing and I can’t figure out why.
Thanks a lot Mitchel. Great training!!
Mitchell...you are the BEST! Love your bi videos!!

An excellent presentation. It was mentioned in the earlier part of the presentation in response to a question that the powerpoin slides will be added to student files after the session. Where can I find those?
Thank you saved me a lot of time trying to browse videos for an actual working one
No problem 👍
Learning more from this RUclips channel than the Microsoft Power BI Self Paced learning modules.
Hi Mitchel. Thanks fir sharing the training. You created ship date column in the factsale table. If my ship date is 3 working days, how do i create it.

Happy to help! Glad you enjoyed.
IT WORKED, THANKS I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOREVER, BUT NO TUTORIAL COULD EXPLAIN IT AS YOU DID
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
In Synapse Dedicated Pool, we have to be very cautious on how we distribute the data evenly between nodes - does this concept still apply with Fabric SQL Warehouse or does the product help on re-distributing the data based on usage for better performance. A video on what we need to do as a developer from the old world Vs. the new Fabric world to achieve maximum perfoamce with an example would be a great one for us. Thanks always for your videos and all the education.
thank you for sharing the knowledge. One of the best lessons on youtube
Wow, thanks!
Super informative and beautifully and clearly presented
This is honestly an amazing course and I can't believe it is free
Really awesome!

Hi Mitchel Excellent and Informative video, thoroughly enjoyed it. Just one quick question, when you build the FactAggSales table at 2:16:31 timeframe and replace the Total Sales generated from the FactSales table with the ones from the FactAggSales table the values are different, can you please explain this and I am not sure if someone else has already pointed this out. Many Thanks
Hi Mitchell. I am kind of lost as to how I should download the Tabular Editor into PBI (External Tools). Can you help me out please? Thanks Mitchell.
knowledgeable and best delivery
thank you!!
Happy to help!
fantastic Data Modeling for Power BI
Hello, thanks for the informative video. want to know while aggregating data creating FactAggSales table we only work with few data from original so at this point how year over year comparation is working ??? As, we just have few data in FactAggSales table.
awesome quick and precise training to gain knowledge on Modelling in short period. Thanks so much Mitchell. It would be great if you cover how to apply filter for SCD-Type-2 in PBI..
Omg Mitchell, ya the best of the best.💪 I love you. ❤️ I was looking for this concepts for só long. I have made many courses, but only you give the concepts.👃. TKS,, TKS a Lot.😃
Fantastic course - thank you
You are awesome I've been tired of searching a lot
Hey, following along I noticed that you were selecting all columns and then removing the duplicates. Why not remove the duplicates from the unique id column only?
Does that make any diffrence?
Thanks for this course!
Learning programming and physics is the best thing to do for me and my students
Many thanks for this video...
This is an amazing learning video.
Hello Mitchell I work with collections, and every day I download a file from the system and upload it to Power BI. I add two columns to calculate the interval of each invoice (> 5 days; > 15 days; > 30 days). I want to explore the possibility of having Power BI automatically import the new file from the collections folder, add the two columns, and display the updated graph. Do you think this is possible?
Thanks a lot for the course !!!
You are welcome!
Thankyou so much bro! it worked! finally
