Thank you Data Guy! first video I've seen from you and it was so clear and simple. I have nothing to do with databases and I've followed every stage of your explanation easily. Thank you for bring this kind of material to us!
Awesome video you have here, I will be sharing this with my team👏🏽. Slight improvement that could be applied is taking away customerID from payment table (data redundancy) as the customer can be traced back using their orderID.
@@chinyerenwigwe5166 the order_id will always reference the customer. It doesn’t matter how many times the customer ordered a product. The order_id will always be different in the payment table.
Your image sometimes cover parts of the models you are explaining. You should consider not staying up on screen for the whole video or just getting off the screen entirely. You might chose to pop up at the beginning or end…
No problem! Can definitely do that, you can also use Astronomer to deploy Airflow on AWS, check out a free trial www.astronomer.io/ no credit card needed and you can deploy directly onto aws infra
This is very helpful, thank you Data Guy and hello Data Dog. 🐕 Data modeling really interests me! While I am not currently in tech or a developer, I think I'd be good at this. My brain already works in this way. As someone considering a career shift, are their paths for someone to build these skills to eventually contribute them to the workforce? Thanks again! :)
Definitely, I have a few videos on projects you can do solo to help build up a portfolio/skills to break into the industry, not impossible at all and encourage you to go after it even if you don't come from a tech background!
I have an interview for a software consultancy firm in the UK. My task I will be doing is "data modelling for a hypothetical system" how can I prep for this? I'm a full stack developer but not dealt with data modelling yet :)
My best recommendation would be getting a free trial in one of the database providers like snowflake and attempting to design your own database schema model by creating several tables, and organizing them in one of the described database model formats!
Thank you for this👌👌. Does anyone know of any relational data modeling exercises resources that have solutions? I want this relational modeling business to be intuitive. Thanks.
This looks a whole lot like taking JSON/arrays from a website and putting it in MySQL with PHP scripts. Hopefully I have a leg up with that experience...
Two of my college classes explained in 19 minutes. Excellent refresher and general explanation 👍
Hahahahaha thanks Jesse, happy to hear I'm up to college par!
thank you data guy ..... l dont have an experience in data modelling and its part of my courses this semester...this really helped me
Thank you so much, glad it's helpful!
Great! video Captain America with eye glasses 🤓 Love Data Dog 😍
Hahahahahaha thank you for the new nickname! Data Dog loves you back!

That may or may not be right cause what if the if the customer ordered goods twice

Thanks for the tips!
But it gives feel of live course, I mean in person. Please find better alternative. But be on screen. @@thedataguygeorge
Thank you for this amazing piece
Thanks so much for tuning in Emmanuel!
Clear and extremely helpful in outlining the big picture of data modeling
Glad it was helpful!
In the OrderLine, should the OrderID be the FK and LineID the PK?
Ooooo maybe, good catch!
I was thinking exactly the same thing.
Thanks for the video. Would love to see one on ways to set up Airflow in AWS

I’m new to being data focused but not new to tech. Is data modeling just like diagramming with uml?
Yes definitely an apt comparison!

How did it go?
@@frumiousgamingam interested to know as well
Please make videoes on SCD or CDC?it will be helpful for all DE
Yes forsure, just to make sure I know I'm hearing you right, you mean Slowly Changing Dimensions and Change Data Capture right?
Yes, you are right

Amazing, will have videos out next week!
Insightful video! Thanks - What’s your verdict on Data Vault as data model?
Amazing!!

Thanks! Not off-hand but let me look into it and get back t you!
good video
Thanks!
thank you sir
You're very welcome!

Definitely good experience to have!
Thank you.
No problem!
For OrderLine Entity LineID should be PK and OrderID should be FK
Ahhh good catch! Thank you!
New subscriber 😊
Thanks for subbing!
difference between Data Model VS ERD digram ? answer in 3 lines . you welcome for that question in advance.
Love you brother
Love you too brother!
The data dog distracts me 🐕
Hahahahaha apologies, he distracts me as well!
lol the dog
He's the best!
Thank you so much.🎉 Could you consider speaking a bit slower for your foreign listeners pls 😊
Yes working on it!
this video is completely useless. couldn't draw a single thing from here that would be reusable in life.
