It ended abruptly because there's an ending to the song, with a separate name, called "Mediate." You only heard a few seconds of it. INXS was huge back then.
Oh yeah I remember that, thanks for bringing it up. That little after song was kinda important to understand it all, wasn't it? Or am I tripping?
"At 98 we all rotate."
@@Pilutta100 You're right. Song's really not complete without it.
"Mediate" is a completely separate song despite the flow from this into that. It's not part of this song. It's not needed to understand this song. It's not needed to complete this song. It's a SEPARATE TRACK, a separate piece of writing. I've heard this song hundreds of times through the years, but haven't heard Mediate in decades. Just not part of this song.
Mediate might not be striclty related to this song, but It's such a brilliant song and transition that it needs to be heard together I think.
The music video is worth a watch- the lead singer oozes charisma & sex appeal, a very handsome man. Also a troubled soul. Rip Michael Hutchence 🙏🏻
I was just going to write that. One of the "last big sex symbols". And I am a heterosexual man. :)
@@jokervienna6433 I agree, very hot!
Crazy to think he’s been gone 25 years
How weird I was just about to suggest they watch the official video and was going to use the exact same terms, "charisma & sex appeal." I think Michael may have rivaled or bested Mick Jagger on both counts. I don't know the exact state of mind Michael was in when he died but I have heard a couple of conspiracy theories about his apparent suicide. Too many other important issues of the day for me to spend a lot of time investigating it.
Hutchence and Cornell are the top two singers I think about when a death is untimely and tragically preventable
Guys INXS was all over every club, pub and bar from Australia to America's North, Central, South, Europe and beyond.
They were Rock Stars.
The entire Kick album is greatness. Listen like Thieves is also good. 🔥
GREAT BAND OUT OF AUSTRALIA .. HUTCHENCE WAS AN AWESOME VOICE, RIP
You should watch the video!! The lead singer, Micheal Hutchence, has so much swag!! RIP beautiful Micheal🎶💙🎵
Lex is an excellent cure for a bad mood! What a terrific young lady!
Best line-“there’s something about you girl, that makes me sweat”. Oh my word , after all these years this video is so hot! Mercy.
Y’all definitely should get into more INXS! Such a great Aussie band of brothers, and such a tragedy losing one of the most charismatic front men to ever grace the stage: Michael Hutchence.
I highly recommend watching a live performance, especially from their 1991 concert at Wembley stadium. ‘What You Need’ would be a good choice from that show.
PS- too bad you didn’t watch this video. ❤️🔥
Yeah, they were bad!
SO many great INXS songs! Original Sin:
ruclips.net/video/aHw0-yHJZ18/видео.html
Yes, that live performance is awesome!
Pure 80s goodness.
Definitely listen to INXS' Never Tear us Apart. A beautiful song!!!
Sometimes I see reactors being overwhelmed or distracted by music videos - but sometimes a music video can really give you some context when it comes to the bands style and mood - I think especially with 80s pop the videos are worth watching.
You can see by the look on Lex’s face, Michael’s still got it with the ladies! 😎
He was a once in a lifetime talent, looks, voice, and charisma/sex appeal that was off the charts!
I just heard this song in Menards and loudly sang the abrupt "I'M LONELY!" My husband just walked away like he didn't know me. I followed him. :)
😄
Saw this band once in September of 1997 at the Warehouse in Toronto. They were smoking that night and it was an excellent show. Their lead vocalist Michael Hutchence died in November of 1997 and INXS was never the same since.
This was big when I was in 8th grade. It seemed everyone was an INXS fan.
Same here. 87-89ish....
Wow does she need to see the Wembley concert! Now that's good video reaction .... you mean tuna? they did call him Mr Venus. And she said it with a straight face.
Back in the day this song was played heavily on the Black stations. INXS incorporated a mixture of funk, soul, pop, and rock in their music.
Love this band and their music catalog. Lead singer Michael Hutchence was a hunk.
Rip Michael Hutchence you left us way too soon 🙏
The One Thing, Don't Change, Digging In The Dirt...their early songs were their best, but they were consistently good.
Digging in the Dirt? That's Peter Gabriel.
Don't Change is one of my favorite songs of all time
and Just Keep Walking 😀
@@debjorgo I think he meant "Kiss the Dirt". Great song!! Also " Listen like Thieves" is worthy of a reaction.
@@babaoriley1 That's funny. Peter Gabriel also has a great song called Kiss the Frog.
When all my friends were drooling over NKOTB my walls were plastered with pics was of Billy Idol and Michael Hutchence. Apparently I had a thing for good hair, no shirt, and leather pants. (and yes, I bet Michael liked to eat tuna lol)
I’m nearly 47 and I’ve loved INXS since the Kick album came out (when I was 12 or 13). Of all the things I’ve ever wondered about any of the band members, whether or not the band members enjoyed tuna salad was never one of them! 🤣
Me, eating tuna salad as I read this: what‽
@@icefacade I don’t really understand it either, you’d have to ask Lexi. She’s the one who said they liked tuna salad! 🤷🏻♀️ 😂
That bit got a little weird.
Mystify, Mediate, and Original Sin are all great also.
INXS was the first rock concert I ever went to. It was 1989 on the tour supporting the album Kick, which this song is from. They made me fall in love with live music. Their encore was "Don't Change," which was one of their earlier hits. Michael Hutchence was one of the greatest frontmen in modern rock (RIP).
You guys should react to…
INXS - What You Need
🎸🤘
😂 Lex has the best "explanations" of the feelings of the songs!!
When she said: "You know what? He sounds like he eats tuna" @4:26 ... I thought that was some kind of euphemism for cunnilingus ... I was WAY off! 😂
A very intuitive lady, I love watching her groove to the songs 🧐
@@davewhitmore1958 I would say more presumptive than intuitive.
@@shadowbanbaitaccount7874 totally down ;-)
@@shadowbanbaitaccount7874 Dam, Lex bats both ways. 👍
Never tear us apart 🔥❤️
Glad you discovered the best pop band of 80s and 90s!!
You gotta see this guy. He makes your eyes happy.
You guys need to watch the music video for this song.
I've really only ever known INXS's hits, but there's a lot of them and they're all fantastic! BTW, did anybody else do a double take when Lex said that this guy definitely likes to eat tuna? 🤣
Yeah, I think a lot of us did... and when Brad said, "I don't like to eat tuna", we thought, yeah, that explains a lot. lol
I need you tonight was INXS's only Hot-100 #1 hit and #7 on the Dance Club Chart. And what a JAM that song was in 1987 and beyond! We used to JAM to this song at the clubs. Sadly, lead singer Michael Hutchence left us too soon. RIH!
The next song called. "Mediate" is a new take on an old idea by Bob Dylan that he first made a video of in 1965 called, "Subterranean Homesick Blues". The "Need you Tonight" video is definitely worth a watch to see the song "Mediate" at the end.
Saw INXS at The Thomas & Mack Arena, Las Vegas Nevada June 1988.....17k people....I think I was the only guy at the show, it was a great show, and a good night!
You need to find the long version to this song!! This was the short version!! Love me some INXS!!!
This is one of the sexiest songs ever written, from the lyrics to his voice to the riff. I’ve always loved this tune.
Great song guys...how about "Disappear" or "Mystify" next? amazing songs as well!!!
I was kind of hoping for the Need You Tonight/Mediate video.
@@debjorgo yeah
Mistify is great
The Stairs, that story is so beautiful
That “New Wave voice” you’re referring to is one heavily influenced by Jim Morrison of The Doors, and “crooners,” like Frank Sinatra. Usually a softer, baritone voice, punctuated by a soulful belt, screams and the occasional spoken word. The cool thing about New Wave was that it was influenced by so many styles and genres that came before it. Notably: Beatle-esque rock ‘n roll, chamber pop, soul, funk, disco, ska, reggae and punk. All combined with the technology of the day, synthesizers and drum machines. It was a really interesting and unique time for music.
Throw Bowie into that mix and you have the complete ingredients to bring it all to a most satisfying simmer - the perfect stew.
@@JoseChavez-rf4ul definitely. Bowie was a huge influence for sure. Also Sparks, Gary Numan, and Kraftwerk.
True - Bryan Ferry in Roxy Music, Dave Gahan in Depeche Mode and even Alison Moyet from Yazoo/Yaz come to mind.
My second favorite band of all time. They had talent to the max. God bless Australia for giving us INXS! And I can still remember when this song came out. It was HUGE. It was on the radio and MTV all the time. If you've never heard the "Kick" album you really should have a listen.
When I hear Lex say something like "this band likes tuna salad" I think that Lex is either blessed with incredible, intuitive insight or she's a bit mad.
Is she saying ppl into 'tuna salad' go both ways? They're bi?
INXS weren’t new wave. They came solidly out of the tradition of Australian pub rock bands that spawned what is almost its own genre: easybeats, AC/DC, Cold Chisel, Midnight Oil, Australian Crawl, nick cave and the bad seeds, and many others, were their forerunners and contemporaries. Powderfinger, Cruel sea (my favourite - ‘better get a lawyer, son’), and many others followed.
She comes up with some of the most off the wall stuff! Tuna salad?
You guys should check out "Never Tear Us Apart" By INXS. Great song! INXS is a really good group.
Another big group of the 80s 90s👍👍👍👍🤟
Lex you use the strangest analogies to describe a song but they’re so spot on and I love them. So unique!
Is she saying ppl into 'tuna salad' go both ways? They're bi?
This came out 3 years prior to ‘Another one bites the dust” so IT sounds like this 🙈😀
I saw them in concert twice in the early 1990s. They were amazing. Michael Hutchence was the most beautiful human being I've ever seen. He was beyond good looking, it was his soul. My favorite song is "Elegantly Wasted:". RIP Michael Hutchence.
😪 I miss Michael sooo much. This song came out (Sept 87) when I was a jr in high school.
This is pure 80s rock. INXS was such a great band. They made hit after hit. And Micheal Hutchense was with Kylie Minogue who was like the hottest girl on the planet at that time.....It was like a if Prince was with Madonna.
Oh man! You missed out by not watching the video! Go back and watch it! You will not be disappointed Lex!
With this band, I think it’s a good idea to watch the actual video so you can see him perform.
First time I saw these guys was on the LLT Australian tour up in Rockhampton QLD back in 1985, moved back to the UK and got tickets for the kick tour in Manchester 1987 and Birmingham in 1988, great memories 🇭🇲🎸
“This band definitely like tuna salad” 🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣
& the best bit is Brad’s confused face!!!
Midnight Oil "The Dead Heart" & "Blue Sky Mine"
“Don’t Change” - my favourite track of theirs. This one second but it was the first one I heard of theirs that got me hooked.
Brilliant band!
Great live band, too.
😆. "...tuna salad..." omgoodness you had me laughing... #pregnantpause
INXS were SO en vogue in '83-'83...art school daze. 🤪😄🎶✨💕
I come to this channel after a hard day of work because I can always count on Brad and Lex to make me smile. I love you guys!
INXS was huge back in the day, and everyone was in love with Michael Hutchence, the lead singer. This song packed the dance floors. RIP Michael
Hi guys, you need to check out INXS live! I highly recommend Wembley stadium 1991 Live Baby Live ❤️
Lex breaks the internet for me. Whenever I hear someone make a factual claim that sounds far fetch, I google it ... but, "Did Michael Hutchence like tuna salad?" has no relevant search results returned. Damn it!
Ha ha, that was definitely an out of left field observation on her part ;)
Definitely a "WTF" moment!
Hilarious! Now I want to know! 🤣🤣🤣
INXS another great Aussie band unique band with the very charismatic lead singer Michael - RIP
If you watch the video ...also never tear us apart ..you know why inxs is really special
What you need is their best song.. Essential listening
"another one Bites the dust" damn, this blow my mind
Yessssssssss…… the saxophone solo is one of the best you’ll hear.
Another great band from Australia at this time frame is Icehouse. Lots of great songs, great southern land, crazy, electric blue.....
For me, this is the quintessential INXS song.
Brilliant live band. Saw them back in '86
Brad’s look at the end cracks me up 🤣
INXS - New Sensation LIVE. Great vibe! 🔥
Great Aussie pop rock 🎸
Billboard Magazine stats:
#1 Hot 100
#73 Black Singles Chart
#2 Song of the Year (1987)
Their biggest hit!
Several months ago if Lex said "they like tuna salad" I would have thought that was the most random s*** ever, but now I know exactly what she's talking about. I speak fluent Lex now 🤣🤣🤣
I love INXS! Michael Hutchence was so hot, even he voice is sexy! This song goes right into another song called Mediate so that’s why it ended that way!❤️❤️
I still have this original album. I cried hysterically when he died
Lexie- YOU need to watch the original video. Mercy!
If ‘tuna salad’ is a metaphor then you may be on the money Lex. 🤣
Please do the official video that includes the ending ‘Mediate’
one of the biggest bands in the world in the late 80s
'The loved one' and 'Dancing on the jetty' both early songs worth a listen
Johnson's Aeroplane
Saw these guys in concert. They put on a great show.
My absolute favorite INXS song. Michael Hutchence and I have that same smooth baritone so I can absolutely kill these songs at karaoke :D
Guilty pleasures. From a life long metal head.
Now you need to listen to Romeo Void "Never Say Never"
Pretty much my favorite INXS song, good stuff
Here's some background for you. Need You Tonight was the first of four top ten songs released from their Kick album. This one is their first and only #1 in the US. In 1988, it was the #2 song of the year only to be beaten out by Geroge Michael's Faith. It was also their highest charting song in the UK going to #2. The song came about when Andrew Farriss was going to visit Michael Hutchence in Hong Kong. He had the taxi that going to take him to their airport waiting at least a half hour while he composed it. When he arrived in Hong Kong, he gave the tape to Michael, who came up w/the lyrics in fifteen minutes. And that's the story of how this hit song was created
Such a great song. Perfect for the radio.
when lex she wondered if frankie goes to hollywood's relax is a chilled song i had a little laugh to myself can't wait for that reaction
They've done that one too.
New Wave came into the 80s and was AMAZING...such a Differently Cool Vibe!! ❤️🔥💯 Loved It!! 😃❤️👍🔥💯
Michael Hutchenson had the best live voice. Watch his videos from His live shows. Epic. He sounded better live than he did on records
This whole album was amazing. Try "New Sensation", it puts you in a good mood.
Possibly released on this day in 1987 #NeedYouTonight #TodayInMusicHistory #MusicHistory #7InchSingle #12InchSingle #CDSingle #80sAlternative #80sFlashBack #InxsHistory #MusicIsLife
I love Lex because she's out of her mind lol. Her descriptions for what she hears is so not normal that I started using them. Can't wait to use tuna salad in my next critique 🤣🤣🤣bahahaha
Love that u guys did another INXS reaction. Had the Kick album on repeat all thru 8th grade.
INXS 'Don't Change' ❤
You need to watch them love. A different feel.
80's!!! Howard Jones "What Is Love".. extended version! Also, "Things Can Only Get Better"... Tons of great Howard Jones songs! Love you guy's! ❤️
Man did we party to this band and song in the 80s.
Best concert I ever went to 1988., The KICK TOUR.INXS was so good.Love that Aussie vibe.
Classic song! "Kick" was an awesome album. Still one of my favorites!
