Jared took LA to the super bowl, he will win it in Detroit. Thank you LA for Brad Holmes, two first, one second and a quarter back that is the best in the league. With MVP considerations. Our time is finally now #OnePride
I know that we're "just talking about sports" but to be completely stripped of your confidence and then at your lowest point be directly told that you're not good enough, not wanted and discarded by the people who were supposed to build you up is a transferrable feeling and brutal on anyone in any comparable situation. There is a reason that we simply don't see stories of guys who wasted potential, draft busts or mishandled developing players in any sport have this insane level of resurgence. The mental fortitude it takes for Goff to even still be in the league is remarkable. However while I'm sure he is superhuman and deserves every measure of praise for what he has managed to do, the culture, belief and staged advancement that dan campbell and the lions must have had to keep his head of the water might be the best example of a support network we've ever seen in professional sports. A moment I will never forget that I don't think is spoken about enough is after it took the DC Lions 12 games to record their first win - by a walk off touchdown by Goff as time expired - Goff immediately goes to Campbell on the sideline to celebrate with him. No endzone celebration, no pile of teammates, he found his guy. With all the hindsight we have today watching this juggernaut of a lions team seemingly poised to dominate the NFC for multiple years, that single show of joy as a culmination of all the struggles, trust, hard work and support in a win that only mattered to those people should never be forgotten as one of the greatest moments in sports. A simple moment where two men who put their careers, their reputations and every shred of desire and trust they had into each other, getting rewarded. If Dan Campbell and Jared Goff lift a lombardi trophy together, it will only mirror that moment. Everything they win will only be worth as much as that forgotten, scrappy 2 point win against a below 500 team.
Jared Goff is loved in Detroit. His name is chanted at sporting events that he's not even at. At two of the Tigers games I went to this season, you could hear fans cheering his name. Last Red Wings season, there was a Jared Goff chant that started during a red wings game. He was not there. Wings were not even playing in Detroit.
@@JustFootballIf he wins a Superbowl for this city, he will never have to spend a single cent here ever again. Forget drinks or meals. People will build his house and a monument to him for free.
Goff and the lions are just the most fun team around rn. They’re great to watch and I just love a hood comeback story. Goff has really shaped up to be a great QB at the lions and imo both the lions and rams won when they made that trade. The rams got a Super Bowl win and the lions got a great QB to build around in this epic rebuild.
That's my QB. I was skeptical at the time of the trade like a lot of Lions fans were, but the Lions FINALLY built a team around their QB and it got them one game from the Super Bowl. And this story isn't over yet.
Most of us were skeptical. The general consensus outside of the Lions organization was that they’d ride Goff for a couple years, draft a new QB then trade or release Goff. Fortunately for the Lions, we don’t make the decisions.
As a Lions fan I think the trade might've been the most lopsided yet fair trades ever... The lions drafted themselves into becoming the program they always wanted, and LA and Stafford got their ring. In the short term LA got the sweat deal, and while the long term still has time to develop, the Lions seem to be in the drivers seat to arrive and win a super bowl soon. If the Lions get their ring, then the trade was an all around sucsess.
I think part of Goff's success in Detroit comes down to how they've been able to address his weaknesses and accentuate his strengths. Goff is fantastic at dissecting defenses, getting the ball where it needs to go with accuracy (and zip when necessary), and getting through his progressions. That said, dude isn't the best under pressure and he isn't too mobile. So Detroit became the ideal situation once Campbell, then Johnson took over the offense. They built around the O-line and running game to ease up on opposing pass rushes and the offense was then built to scheme their playmakers open. With that, Goff has that extra half a second to get through his progressions and the offense is now the best the league as of this writing. Amazing job by Detroit and fantastic resilience by the Goffather.
Brad Holmes had a plan from the beginning. I have zero doubts that in 2021 Brad and Dan sat Goff down and told him that there was a plan and he was at the center of it. You don’t draft starters in the first 5 rounds of every draft, pick up starters in free agency, and have the best coaching staff and culture in the league by luck. There was a plan road mapped out from the first day Brad was GM.
Seeing the Lions be a well ran organization truly is something special. They have probably had the best turnaround a franchise has ever had, they went from bottom feeders to being arguably the best team in the NFL.
I love Jared goff when he came to Detroit I said that he was going to do big things in Detroit. It feels good to know the lions are currently the best team in the NFL
@@JustFootball Given the story that @TheCountofToulouse recounted above, it sounds like the Rams felt that way, but that wasn't the attitude of Brad Holmes at all.

Once McVay felt he could no longer communicate with Goff it was effectively over. You should do an in depth video about the Stafford trade because it reads like a movie script that NO ONE would ever believe. Stafford being in Cabo was some sort of divine intervention. On the day he requests the trade, he was crying and really out of sorts, Kelly (Stafford's wife) decided that they needed to get out of Detroit, just to clear Matthew's mind. They first tried to book a trip to the Caribbean, a favorite resort that they'd visited a bunch of times but the resort was closed due to bad weather so they called the travel agent to see if any place was open, there was nothing. The agent said she'd leave a deposit at several resorts in case any of them had a cancellation. At the SAME time, Les Snead is booked to go to Cabo (which has a BUNCH of resort, BTW) to hang out with Whitworth and McVay who left that morning but his wife convinces him to go to northern California where her family is having a big party for her fathers birthday. Les decides to go with his wife and calls the resort in Cabo to cancel his reservation. As soon as the receptionist gets off the phone, she looks at who is on the list of 'waiting' reservations and calls the Stafford's. They arrive several hours later and as they're standing in the lobby, waiting to get their room, Andrew Whittworth notices Stafford and walks up to him, after a brief conversation, he invites him to come down where he and his family are hanging out. 30 minutes later, Stafford meets with Whitworth and informs him that he just asked to be traded. Bare in mind, practically NO ONE knows about this at this point, the Lions put his name on the internal NFL trade boards but it was FRESH and most teams never even KNEW about it. Whitworth tells Stafford that Sean McVay would probably like to meet him and when Stafford asks where is, Whitworth points to a terrace where Sean and his fiance' are having lunch. Andrew sends him a message that reads something like "Hey, I'm down here with Stafford if you want to meet him". When McVay meets Matthew Stafford for the first time, the air was electric. They were dialed in with each other and McVay suddenly was speaking to someone that was as smart as he was, incredible memory recall and they sat up all night talking football. The next morning, McVay informs Snead that he wants to see what it would cost to get Stafford. Snead, is SHOCKED when McVay tells him "Stafford is f***ing HERE". Snead calls his old friend and former asst. GM, Brad Holmes and they begin hashing out the details. By this time, several teams have placed VERY strong bids, including the 49ers. Snead is determined to outbid them all as McVay is adamant that he can win a title if he can just get Stafford. As the GM's are finish the terms of the deal, both need owner approval to pull the trigger. I went on 97.1. The ticket and vouch for golf with Pat Caputo. The first year I said he's really good quarterback. He's young and he's been to a Super Bowl. I've seen him play Pat says we need to Draft a quarterback wrong, I was right.
@@garymartin1045 Took Pat a while to turn around, lots of others too. I just was never sold on "Goff is the issue" in LA. There were reasons for believing that narrative.
@Snoil He was part of the issue at that time. He was Young and immature, he said that. But so was a coach. I think. He tried to live up to the contract
A good lesson in how teams often pursue a rebuild the wrong way. Throwing rookie QB’s onto bad teams. Detroit went and got a veteran with upside, and used high draft picks on Oline and weapons to put around him. There are a lot of guys that would look good QB’ing this offense now, but not many that could have soldiered through the lean times with their confidence in tact. And Goff’s elite level efficiency is now shining through. He is processing faster than ever, to the point that he can beat pressure with his decision making and is allowed the freedom to do that within the offense. Guy is a solid dude and a great teammate. To compliment a Lions locker room that is as tight as any I’ve ever seen.
Goff embodies the city of Detroit with his determination and truly belongs here. The whole state of Michigan owes him a lot for turning the lions into contenders
In my 46 years, there have been some good trades here in Detroit (I'm looking at you Miguel Cabrera and Brendan Shanahan) and some terrible trades (I'm looking at you John Smoltz and Chauncey Billups), but I can't think of any trade that is better than Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff & a parade of draft picks. I really can't think of any that are even close.
I was confident that the Goff trade was one of the best moves of All time. A talented young QB. That would only get better. And with the draft picks the lions got from LA have paned out. The lions are fun to watch 😊
Goff needed to refine, to mature like a fine wine. And by God, he did. Going from playing terribly to playing literally perfect games and running every trick play in the book. He deserves a ring.
Lions fan here. When Goff got here, I didnt know much about him. He started off terrible. No mobility and bad decisions. Fire the OC and instantly.....he was awesome. Goff isnt the most mobile guy, but he makes great decisi8ns before and after the snap. He has a strong arm, shows great touch and is the most accurate passer in the NFL. He's perfect for this Offense. I'd take Mahomes over him, but he's the only one.
This years Lions team is hungry. I think we're going to New Orleans this year. Either way, there has never been a better time to be a Lions fan. #OnePride💙🩶💙🩶💙
I hated Jared when he played for the Rams everyone was in love with him when we had Stafford who I thought was the better quarterback than the crap in LA went down and Staff wanted out When the trade went down I was not happy but Goff was now my QB So I started watching film and I was WOW Goff has real arm talent I was telling my friends that when you have that kind of arm talent it doesn’t just go away 2021 I was ready to agree with people saying Goff sucks (they went 0-11-1 but than after the fired their OC and Campbell took over the offense it started to change now I’m am SO HAPPY Goff is my QB
Not going to lie I didn't believe In Goff at first until I read that Stafford requested a trade. Then I was behind him 100%. Now I like Goff more than Stafford! He's all LA now
This is a pretty good video with just a few things I find kind of stretching. Most being You don't stumble to a 9-7 record and I don't consider that really the "Superbowl hangover". I did some research and found out that 8 of those 16 interceptions were touched by receivers first. Not to mention they had had a league record breaking 13 dropped passes within the 5 yard line through the end zone. So he wasn't horrible.
Win in Detroit, and youll NEVER pay for another thing. If Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell and Jared Goff bring home a superbowl, there will be statues of all 3 outside Ford field before the next season starts
Of all the bonehead moves that the Lions have made in the last SIXTYFIVE YEARS, trading Pad Statford for Goff was, by far, the best deal we ever made!!!
i told my homie the other day that Jared Goff is one of the best QB’s in the league since going to Detroit, and he told me “Goff is trash”. It’s interesting watching Goff prove me right every single week and the look on bro’s face every time the Lions win😂
The Detroit fan base (which I am a part of) went from wanting Goff benched to chanting his name everywhere. I'm not sure a single player in the history of the NFL has gained the respect to a level that Goff has. We went from wanting to kill this dude for making lazy decisions to being willing to kill for him 😂. His story arc has been an amazing one. I'm a proud Lions fan of 43 years. It's still crazy to hear "Lions" and "best team in The NFL" in the same sentence. Feels like a pipe dream.
im calling it! d Lions are gonna be d champs this year!!! no 3peat to overrated mahomes & d chiefs. jared is having a hell of a year & everyone's so high on kansas baltimore & buffalo. d disrespect will soon end. goooooo Lions 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
wait wait, did we really chant for David Blough? Proof? I was not a Goff lover when he arrived. I was at training camp in year 1 and he looked fucking terrible. This obviously changed as he got his confidence back and improved but I do not recall anyone calling for Blough to get in the game... We all knew that we had no QB behind him in the building.
As a Rams fan, I will always have a spot for Goff. But he wasn't a McVay QB and Stafford was a better fit. Lions adopting a play style for his strengths is great to see. Both teams winning a trade is always great thing. But No CAP, that was PI on Puka and Rams should of won. Wouldn't been that upset about it if they beat the Niners but nope.
Yeah fair point, if we have learned anything from recent years it is that QB play can change drastically depending on who is coaching them. It just wasn't a fit with McVay
Haven't a perfect pass Rating for one game r Setting several other records for highest 4 game stretch for pass Rating. And you're stupid responses LO. L. You're Not very smart when it comes to football.ĺ Lol
Goff is a stud and was shafted by universities. Look at Josh Allen as well, only offered two scholarships and one was rescinded. Wyoming was the only one that had faith in him, Eastern Michigan didn't.

@@JustFootball In this case 100%! The free beers didnt hurt either 8>D And yes there was occasional smugness. A touch.
That's my fucking quarterback
Haha damn straight!
YOURE GOOD ENOUGH FOR DETROIT JARED GOFF!!!
Certainly is! Was wild to hear the chants for his name in Green Bay last night!
He IS DETROIT🔥🔥
Hell yeah he is
WOOoo who else is pumped up!? Great video
The Lions give all the fans of poverty franchises hope in a bright future (im a Cardinals fan)
Haha that's the spirit
Goff embodies the city of Detroit with his determination and truly belongs here. The whole state of Michigan owes him a lot for turning the lions into contenders
In my 46 years, there have been some good trades here in Detroit (I'm looking at you Miguel Cabrera and Brendan Shanahan) and some terrible trades (I'm looking at you John Smoltz and Chauncey Billups), but I can't think of any trade that is better than Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff & a parade of draft picks. I really can't think of any that are even close.
Absolutely! Goff was essentially a throw away, but has turned into a franchise changer. One of the best trades ever
Lions might be my second favourite team now just cuz it would be so cool to see Goff win a championship with the lions
Yeah I reckon most people have a soft spot for the Lions
First comment and like love these vids by the way
Calm Down Bro😂. He not gonna fly you out💀
Thank you v much!
@@JorgeMartinez-yu7hb How do you know...?
Jarod Goff Jarod Goff!!!!!!
Louder!
Kurt Warner got a movie, if Goff wins a Super Bowl with the lions he’ll get a movie
I was confident that the Goff trade was one of the best moves of All time. A talented young QB. That would only get better. And with the draft picks the lions got from LA have paned out. The lions are fun to watch 😊
They really are, and he is a certified stud
Goff needed to refine, to mature like a fine wine. And by God, he did. Going from playing terribly to playing literally perfect games and running every trick play in the book. He deserves a ring.
What a stud!
Yessir!
I love this video.
Thank you very much!
@ ofc
He's doing everything right. Superbowl or not.
Yeah 100%, and surely the SB is coming soon
Jared Goff, Jared Goff, Jared Goff 🗣️
Lions fan here. When Goff got here, I didnt know much about him. He started off terrible. No mobility and bad decisions. Fire the OC and instantly.....he was awesome.
Goff isnt the most mobile guy, but he makes great decisi8ns before and after the snap. He has a strong arm, shows great touch and is the most accurate passer in the NFL. He's perfect for this Offense. I'd take Mahomes over him, but he's the only one.
Jared Goff is the reason Ben Johnson is sought after, and Ben Johnson and Dan Campbell are responsible for Jared Goff shining the way is his.
That's what we call perfect recruitment! A well thought out masterplan playing to everyone's strengths
This years Lions team is hungry. I think we're going to New Orleans this year. Either way, there has never been a better time to be a Lions fan. #OnePride💙🩶💙🩶💙
That is absolutely true especially after three decades of pain. Enjoy it!
I have never seen Goff’s college highlights. Why can’t he run like that anymore 😭😭
Haha his opponents were a bit slower back then which helped...
I smell a Super Bowl victory this year!
DyNasty Bginz 🦁⚒️💙
That’s the best NFL Pocket Passer ryt now
No arguments here!
Jared Goff is the ONLY quarterback aside from MAYBE josh allen that can throw for 85 yards an be considered ELITE
Haha helps when the team around you is utterly dominant
The transition came when his coaches pretty much abandoned the idea of him being a bridge to the future, he is the future.
Hell yeah, and it sounds like they never viewed him as a bridge. Believed in him from the get-go
Jared Goff the goat
Love the profile pic, haha
They were chanting Jared Goff in the halls of ford field before the Monday night game vs Seahawks
JAR-ED GOFF!!! #DetroitvsEverybody
Legend confirmed!
That's my QB💪
Hell yeah!
6:07 DAWG I SWEAR THAT GAME WAS CRAZY ASF 6:10
Perfect remark: the NFL industry.
If Comeback Player of the Decade was a thing, it’d be Goff’s.
Yeah completely agree!
I hated Jared when he played for the Rams everyone was in love with him when we had Stafford who I thought was the better quarterback than the crap in LA went down and Staff wanted out
When the trade went down I was not happy but Goff was now my QB
So I started watching film and I was WOW Goff has real arm talent I was telling my friends that when you have that kind of arm talent it doesn’t just go away 2021 I was ready to agree with people saying Goff sucks (they went 0-11-1 but than after the fired their OC and Campbell took over the offense it started to change now I’m am SO HAPPY Goff is my QB
That's a fun journey to go on! Sometimes the stud talent is just a little bit hidden
Not going to lie I didn't believe In Goff at first until I read that Stafford requested a trade. Then I was behind him 100%. Now I like Goff more than Stafford! He's all LA now
Go Lions!
Always knew Winston was a Detroit fan!
@@JustFootball lmao
can we get some credit for company man if you're gonna use his series name?
Jared Goff is Detroit Golden Child ❤❤❤❤❤ Dan Campbell is a motorcity cowboy 🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠 True Lion Kings 🦁🦁🦁🦁
The Ryan Gosling of football!!
If John Gruden is saying Goff is playing like Joe Montana, we can trust that insight.
Gruden knows what he is talking about.
Jared Goff, Geno Smith, Sam darnold, and Baker Mayfield and proof that sometimes things don't work out the 1st time
Win in Detroit, and youll NEVER pay for another thing. If Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell and Jared Goff bring home a superbowl, there will be statues of all 3 outside Ford field before the next season starts
And so there should be. They could be going up as soon as next season...?
Of all the bonehead moves that the Lions have made in the last SIXTYFIVE YEARS, trading Pad Statford for Goff was, by far, the best deal we ever made!!!
Well, tied for best with drafting Barry.
Haha yes it certainly has worked out, for the Rams as well!
@JustFootball The Rams are average with Stafford. Just like the Lions were when he was at the helm for them. The Rams will go nowhere with him.
had to like the video it had a demonic number of likes holy moly man
Welcome to the party. Next step, subscribe ;)
i told my homie the other day that Jared Goff is one of the best QB’s in the league since going to Detroit, and he told me “Goff is trash”. It’s interesting watching Goff prove me right every single week and the look on bro’s face every time the Lions win😂
Jared Goff, Jared Goff
The Detroit fan base (which I am a part of) went from wanting Goff benched to chanting his name everywhere. I'm not sure a single player in the history of the NFL has gained the respect to a level that Goff has. We went from wanting to kill this dude for making lazy decisions to being willing to kill for him 😂. His story arc has been an amazing one. I'm a proud Lions fan of 43 years. It's still crazy to hear "Lions" and "best team in The NFL" in the same sentence. Feels like a pipe dream.
Speak for yourself, "Lion fan," but I don't recall anyone in Detroit wanting him benched.
im calling it! d Lions are gonna be d champs this year!!! no 3peat to overrated mahomes & d chiefs. jared is having a hell of a year & everyone's so high on kansas baltimore & buffalo. d disrespect will soon end. goooooo Lions 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love the optimism! Surely they are most people's second favorite team to win the whole thing this year
Detroit. The city of second chances.
A movie will be on the way soon enough I reckon
wait wait, did we really chant for David Blough? Proof?
I was not a Goff lover when he arrived. I was at training camp in year 1 and he looked fucking terrible. This obviously changed as he got his confidence back and improved but I do not recall anyone calling for Blough to get in the game... We all knew that we had no QB behind him in the building.
Blough had a brief moment in the spotlight where everyone loved him, but Goff's story is a fair bit better, aha
Rams were dumb to let him go.
I mean, that trade did work out for them as well, and I think it was clear that Goff and McVay did not get on/work well together
Thr fall? Not sure we got to that yet. It’s been up since rams Super Bowl
He was just getting started
Detriot Lions should have drafted a marquee or franchise QB. I like Goff, but he isn't that guy. He isn't elite.
Woah, bold statement. Goes against 99% of other comments on here. How come you don't back Goff as THE guy?
As a Rams fan, I will always have a spot for Goff. But he wasn't a McVay QB and Stafford was a better fit. Lions adopting a play style for his strengths is great to see. Both teams winning a trade is always great thing.
But No CAP, that was PI on Puka and Rams should of won. Wouldn't been that upset about it if they beat the Niners but nope.
Yeah fair point, if we have learned anything from recent years it is that QB play can change drastically depending on who is coaching them. It just wasn't a fit with McVay
It definitely wasn't PI but ok.
Having more points than passing yards in a game. Its not Goff lol
Haven't a perfect pass Rating for one game r Setting several other records for highest 4 game stretch for pass Rating.
And you're stupid responses LO. L. You're Not very smart when it comes to football.ĺ
Lol
Goff is a stud and was shafted by universities. Look at Josh Allen as well, only offered two scholarships and one was rescinded. Wyoming was the only one that had faith in him, Eastern Michigan didn't.
And the Lions might get a Super Bowl form it as well! This year? If not, then soon after
