Like many teenage girls her age, Jazz Jennings spent time at the beach this summer and loves playing soccer with her friends, but she’s about to face a new challenge when she starts high school in the fall. “I’m a little bit worried because I’m not sure if people are going to be fully accepting,” she said. “I’ve noticed that boys are less accepting than girls.”Jazz is transgender, and at just 14 years old, she is staving off puberty and medically transitioning her body to female, the gender she identifies as, by taking estrogen and puberty blockers.
The LGBTQ community is becoming a more vocal minority, looking for equal treatment on issues from marriage equality to anti-discrimination in the workplace. Watch stories about how the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer population aims to address stigma, discrimination and prejudice. @@angellina7237What the above commenter is saying is that children should not be allowed to make irreversible and oftentimes detrimental decisions due to the fact that their brains are not yet fully developed and they are vulnerable to acting out impulsively on what they think they want rather than thinking critically about what might be causing them to feel a certain way, thus leading to permanent changes accompanied with long term physical and mental health complications all because they made a decision about something they didn’t even have full comprehension over at the time.
👏👏👏 💯 Thankyou for being honest.
@@rosstheboss3747but she’s not. hormone blockers can be stopped and legally she cannot take hormones until she is an adult
I still don't get it... What does it even mean to think like a girl? Like wearing makeup? That's okay for men in South Korea. In Arab men kiss to greet. Some men like to have pony tail, some women may like pixie cut. How can that decide someone's gender?
Their logic is bs and they know it as well. So they will just cry "transphobia". Its not worth arguing beleave me.
@@Fish_1914 I used to think the same until I listened to the tr00ns, they actually make a lot of sense. The gender roles are made by the culture or the society, so gender = the roles and stereotypes if you will. Sex is what you develop with from chromosomes, but if you introduce something like HRT then you can effectively change sex, hence sex change, becoming a real man/woman in the sense an intersex person is still a man/woman.
Like I said I was skeptical too but it does make sense.

Okay, so she’s transgender at 11… But what they didn’t talk about was that video of her from when she was 7 years old! I’m torn, because if she knew she was a girl from that young then it must be true, right? But at the same time, I can’t fathom that a child that young could possibly know enough to be able to determine or decide that on their own. When I was 11 (coincidentally) I wished that I had been born a girl, and this persisted for years. I kept it a secret and never let it show, but eventually I grew out of it. The fact that a large majority of my friends were girls played an important part in it. Today, I know I’m just androgynous, I’m a guy but I also have a lot of feminine qualities. I can’t help but ask the same questions here, what pressures are making her feel this way? What other solutions are there that are safer and less life-changing? Why is it so important to identify as a girl? Can’t you just be a very feminine boy? What do pronouns and a name and labels have to do with how you feel inside? Why are labels so important?
I’m sure there are people who are truly transgender, I just wonder how many of them are just unable to come to terms with the fact that it’s okay to be a mix of both, or even to just be a “girl in a boy’s body”. Being a “girl in a boy’s body” doesn’t mean you’re a girl, it just means you’re a very feminine boy. You can still be a guy who is almost totally feminine, you don’t need to erase that fact by rewriting your whole identity or taking drugs and going through surgeries.
I think part of the problem is that our society has made gender roles so rigid and mutually exclusive. Gender dysphoria is when a person feels shame, anxiety, depression, and confusion because their “gender” doesn’t align with their body. That’s the problem right there. They believe that because their internal gender doesn’t match their external sex, they must have been born into the wrong body. This is the mistake. Gender is seen as so rigid that the possibility that a boy could be 100% feminine but still a male is seen as impossible. What we really need to teach is that everyone is a different mix and that a person’s body has no bearing on their gender. I came to that conclusion years ago and I’ve been happy ever since. For a long time I used to wish and fantasise about an alternate reality in which I’d been born a girl, just so I could fully express myself. But honestly, if I had been born a girl, I’d no doubt be having dreams of being born a boy. I understand not everyone is androgynous, and for some it’s much more binary, but I really believe that gender dysphoria is based on a lie. Because of our rigid view of gender, millions of people, even children, feel as though they’ve been born in the wrong body. The lesson here is that everyone should be able to express themselves and their gender without feeling the need to go through surgery and drug treatments.
I couldn’t agree with you more
Excellent answer - well said, its society which has made gender roles so rigid - as a women who spent her early childhood with all male friends ; I was labelled a ‘Tom’ boy - left alone to do what I wanted as an adult became very happy to be female --- today children like me are being brain washed into thinking their trans - so sad

How
They lost me at the hormone-blockers part. I think it's alright for children at that age to experiment with clothing, haircuts, etc. to find themselves but that is just to far. If the child DOES ever "change their mind" (which is defenitely possible at that age) then they are most likely scrued because your voice won't ever be the same as it used to be. Parents need to seriously calm down.
Haircuts, makeup, clothing and all that good stuff: Yes!
Horrmone blockers and Surgery: Absolutely not.
So you will FORCE a child to endure the wrong puberty and suffer EVERY SINGLE DAY in ways you can't imagine on the extremely rare chance they will regret it?
Tell me, do you use that with all medical treatments?
Cataract surgery has a 5% regret - that's 15x more than trans patients.
Cancer treatments have a 13% regret.
Why do we offer them to children?
Hormone blockers aren't permanent. It just stops them as they are taken. Once someone stops taking them puberty starts again
I agree with this. Being transgender under 19 i have NO problem with, but taking pills, etc, too far.

The worse thing is that this jazz boy/girl(whatever) is not doing well and apparently the surgery had really bad side effects and they have been covering it up since day one because they don't want ppl to see how damaging this is to kids, just shows what these ppl are like
As a trans tween I can confirm my identity and appearance is not forced onto me. This is my choice to change how I look but being trans isn't a choice. Yet you can choose to transition, or not.
No matter how much you hate it you can't change our minds. Search up how being trans at a young age is psychologically proven to be valid and natural, of course, depending on the individual.

This is child abuse and it is a PROBLEM. I feel sorry for this.
Her at 11: mature
Me at 11: wonders how it feels to chew 5 gum, tries to close the fridge slowly to see the light turn off, plays ROBLOX 24 hours a day

I honestly dont think the child here is a transgender "boy" it's fake news.
You could tell in the face it's a boy off the bat.
Here's the real question
*DOES JAZZ LIKE JAZZ*
*jazz music starts*
@Christopher Hacker *_you like jazz_*
@Christopher Hacker have you not watched the bee movie
OMG 😂😂
Dude stop your so rude
This is from a new article and I quote "Now 21 years old, Jazz has become a tragic figure. Obese, depressed and often suffering from anxiety attacks, he has struggled to form anything remotely like an intimate relationship. Jazz was first introduced to the public at large in 2007, in a special edition of 20/20, the storied ABC primetime news series." This is not the way do not let teens and kids do this stuff at least wait for them to be 18 or older this is one of the first cases in young transgender mental and physical health development it isn't healthy certainty not a young age.
But why not let them socially transition? Meaning like getting a haircut or getting new clothes etc I wouldn’t want my kid to suppress who they are
@@kennedyjackson6744 The comment you are replying to is the answer. Aside from it generally being outrageous to allow and encourage an ELEVEN YEAR OLD to make permanent decisions like this, permanently scarring them, there is a more than 50% chance it will end up being a phase. This video was heartbreaking to watch, it's essentially just footage of child abuse and I am shocked it has not been removed.
@@NatrollJM omg it’s heartbreaking that parents are being loving and supportive to their kid? It’s not even anything permanent at this time all she did was grow out her hair and started wearing feminine clothing that’s not a bad thing
Yall should be put in jail for allowing this.....
Wtf

I didn’t have a phone for texting friends when I was 11. >:(
When i was 11 i didnt even know transgender was a thing or even a word
WHATS GOING ON WITH WORLD
This world is fucked, my friend. We're unlucky enough to see its ruin.
I knew that word when I was 7!!!!
its because the world changed obviously, children are maturing faster than they were a couple of years ago, which in my opinion, is good.
@@florisons Knowing what a term is doesn't make you mature, like at all. To me, it's the lack of parental guidance and the internet that messed up this world.
pumpkihime you call this bullshit good?
"Jazz is 100% girl"
We live in the age of denial.
She is a girl.
Fedtet Fritte & Co. I couldn't believe a doctor would say something that irresponsible
Fedtet Fritte & Co. Denial is believing that is a girl . It's plain as day that his environment somehow did that to him .
physically a boy, mentally a woman
Genitalia =/= Gender
There are two biological sexes; male and female. Gender is a broad spectrum of one's identity to themselves.

*"What parts of a boy do you have?"*
Me: *laughs so hard*
The answer is everthing. Everything in his body defines him as a boy.
American Eagle no actually the brain is a girl part, what makes her a girl
@@gwendalynnalvarado8277 what do you mean? Everyone has a brain. He may not think as a guy but, the part where you think is only one small part. He was born as a guy so, he has a guy's brain. Litterally every part of his body reads him as a guy even the brain. If you were to scan the brain, you'll than see him as a guy. So, therefore, you are wrong. And, the cells and dna that reads him as a guy doesn't matter? As long as he thinks like a girl he is a girl? What if you have memory loss and find your self thinking at first that you are a girl. Does that make you a girl? What if you have this mental illness where you have multiple different prople inside of one body, one of which is a girl. Does that make you a girl?
TheBlab Army THE P WORD just say it
American Eagle No your wrong her mind her whole body is a girl she is a girl your wrong sis please get your facts straight ;) nobody asked for a long paragraph. ;)
Every kid is fascinated with the other gender, boys wore their moms earrings and daughters wore their dads shoes, it’s full child curiosity but you shouldn’t feed into this
This isn't curiosity. A curious boy will still tell you they are a boy. A trans girl will tell you they're a girl.
What is hurting children (and adults) is denying a REAL medical condition exists.
