I’ll do that too sometimes with my pups. My Cane Corso, T’Challa enjoys watching Justine cook. His ears perk up as he listens to all the sounds. Anyhoo, it’s good to know I’m not alone! 😊
Just wanted to say love the channels. It’s refreshing watching genuine people having fun. Thank you for making wholesome entertainment. Nice watching fellow Missourians.
I'm so reminded of those happy summer evenings when I and my family picnicked in the back yard and played games. We didn't have air conditioning, so we kept cool this way. This was back in the early 1960's when the area of my childhood near Tarrytown NY was still rural. The ninepins reminded me of a favorite Washington Irving story, Rip Van Winkle. While hunting in the Catskill Mountains, he met some strange little men wearing old Dutch clothing and playing ninepins. They were supposed to be the spirits of the crew of Henry Hudson's ship, the Half Moon.
I absolutely love your channels 😊❤️ I love watching you cook on the fire place and I've even tried cooking on my fire pit....with great success ❤️. I bought a fabulous Dutch oven and actually made biscuits over the fire...... keep up the awesome work ❤️
SWEETEST couple ever! 2day I am not feeling well (ol' widow) and U have brought me 2 smile at your fun and antics, I thank U 4 that and 4 your time and talents shared. The history U share makes these videos rich in quality. I hope your temps lower and I pray U have continued health and God's abundant blessings. Your chickens R so peaceful = loved and well cared 4! I love U 2! :)
I think that is the very first time I have seen Ron say he doesn't like something on camera! I love lemon and pork, but pickled lemon might be odd. I would try it, though!
I agree - I think the recipe called for the gravy to be on the bottom of the cutlets to prevent the breadcrumbs from getting soggy. Looks like a great meal! 👍🏻😃
Really enjoyed watching your video today. Loved going on the tour and seeing you cute little chicks. They are growing so fast! Glad they are protected and will be very warm this winter. Thanks so much for showing us around!!
Y’all bring my day such simple and pleasant joy. Thank you Ron and Justine! I fully intend on sending you a small parcel or letter. Love seeing your life!
Made rotisserie chicken baked potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner tonight 😋 I've never heard of pickled lemon. Have heard of pickled limes in the film Little Women.
Love the chick house. Is there an outdoor space for them to roam and stretch those tiny little legs. And munch on bugs? Another relaxing and enjoyable video. Hugs and love!
Hi Ron and Justine, i love watching your videos always exiting and it looks very tasty . I love outside cooking from time to time, and your style of cooking reminds me how my mother and grandmother used too cook on the farm, traditionally food, easy simple and delicious. Love from Cape Town, South Africa.
I enjoyed todays video. The meal looked really good. Ok... This may sound strange and no one else mentioned it but at approximately 8:15 in to the video did something run really fast behind Ron. I keep looking and I see something. Does anyone else see it 🤔😳.... It happens again about 15:15😳. Must be a filming thing.
Cooking outside almost daily is something I did when I lived in Western Kentucky and we had no A/C. I have been back in Maine for 20 years and I still cook outside almost daily in Spring through Fall. Enjoy!
I LOVE all of your videos! Very entertaining and educational too. It is encouraging to see young people interested in keeping the old ways alive (and adding a bit of modern also). Keep up the good work.
Hi Justin&Ron you guys are so funny and cute together he's so handy and does wonderful things for Justin I had so much fun watching your videos it puts a smile on my face I'm loving your place stay cool luv u guys more videos 😁😘👍
@@brendaf3132 you could make them, Remember those clothes pattern they would sell, do they even do that anymore? Anyways it’s pretty simple with a sowing machine. Faster then a needle and thread and way faster then weaving or crocheting 🧶
Yummy roasted corn, the pork cutlets look good. Most excellent outdoor cooking!☺️ Played a lot of tic tac toe when I was a kid,I love checkers, played Old Maid cards, and rummy. ☺️💞💞
Hi Ron and Justine! It's interesting you say that game was called noughts and crosses but now you call it tic tac toe. Well, here in England, we still call it noughts and crosses. Just a little info for ya :-)
Corn on the cob is one of my favorite foods ever. Ron, I can eat corn pretty fast, but you'd win against me. The whole meal looked delicious and I think I would like the lemon flavored sauce.
I love cooking outside. We recently built an outdoor fireplace. (Nothing fancy, it’s the same type my Nonno built when they moved here from Italy in the 1940’s) And it works so well. I make lots of pans of chicken and potatoes and peppers all summer. I understand what you mean about the pickled lemon. Sometimes flavors like that are so strong, it takes over the entire flavor profile of a dish. Also, I know it’s not an early American dish, but I think you and Ron would really enjoy a Panzanella salad on these hot evenings. Lots of fresh veggies, some stale toasted bread cubes and a garlic, olive oil, vinaigrette. My husband and I eat a lot of this during the summer. It’s a great use of leftovers.
@@jerrymoore838 It is. We always had a bowl of it around at my Nonna’s house. But she would scold my cousins and I because we would pick the bread out and then she would send us down the street to buy bread from the local bakery. They had a day-old rack and the loaves were always 25¢. Hahaha!
INTERESTING! PORK with pickled lemon 🍋. PICKLED lemons, & pickled walnuts, are a thing I associate with CHRISTmas; & in fact you can still buy them today in the UKGB, from a company called Opies. I've had pickled walnuts on a cheeseboard, but never tried pickled lemons. OF course before electricity & fridges, you pickled, salted, dried, & smoked things to preserve them. So pickled lemons wouldn't be unusual in 19th Century N America, GB, & N Europe. THERE'S a funny story about when the English 'Old Ironsides' Oliver Cromwell was in power ( Circa 1650's); he complained to his wife that one of his favourite savoury dishes was missing oranges & lemons. His wife had just prepared it, but without the citrus 🍊🍋 ingredients. SHE retorted, that in that case he shouldn't have declared war on Spain! WHEN I watch you two, I can forget my worries!
Ron, Just watched the chew and chat in which you talked about your ancestors. Your family history is very similar to mine and probably many others. My family came to Virginia and North Carolina originally in the 1600s. They migrated to Tennessee and then to Missouri. My great grandfather's name was George Washington Saunders. Small world isn't it? Fun to learn about your family and the similarity to mine. My mom came to Californi where I was born and met my dad here. My husband and I really enjoy watching you and Justine and MishMish!
I started working on tracing back my family tree as far as I can, working on one branch at a time. The Dutch colonists that you talked about, I have a Dutch ancestor in my pedigree tree that was of that era. Abraham Jongbloedt b. 1600 Amsterdam, d. 1660 New Amsterdam(New York). Modern spelling of the name is Youngblood.
Did Alfred not get a turn at ninepins? I did have to smile because you played ninepins and talked about 10 pin bowling, and then showed us your 10 chickens....not for bowling though. You guys are nice to your chickens 🐥
I loved this video!! The corn made my mouth water. 😋 All of the food looked delicious. The games were delightful. !! Thankyou for all your hard work. Your videos are filled with so much warmth. 🥰🥰
Thank you guys, this was a fun video. How can you go wrong with good food, games and a little tour to the chicken coop. They did get so big from the last time.
I could not have the heart to raise chickens for slaughter- maybe you guys do not intend to eat these ones but you do eat chicken so it’s just odd to me as a vegetarian- I love you two but I secretly wish you would do more cooking without so much meats! Eggplant is just one of many meat substitutes as well as chickpea juice for cooking instead of eggs- I love you both and wish you well but it does sadden me to see the chickens and then the next day you make chicken pot pie!! Oh no!! Run little chickens run!! 😆❤️🤔
Do like the Egyptians and rig you up a rectangle of cloth. Hang it overhead and rig it up to wave back and forth with your leg or knee movement. The waving cloth will get rid of those flies!!!
Hey Ron, present day if you find a ball with the weight you like you can have them measure your fingers and they will drill it to your finger size. Being small holes would be many laughs though.
I feel like the pickled lemon in the gravy is akin to when I had capers on a chicken. It was super weird. I didn't like it or dislike, but I prolly won't use them again.
I miss not having my hens, I had to give them up ten years ago because I had to move to a handicapped bungalow (I can’t weight bear anymore) and we aren’t allowed any here. As they get older they will grow a patch of colour behind their ears the same colour as their eggshells and once it’s fully formed they will start to lay eggs - so you can tell who is laying the eggs!!! The eggs come out really small at first, but perfectly formed! If you make them a warmed porridge in the winter, they will give you eggs for longer! Billie (from the north west of England!)
I hope this isn't a stupid question, but do you cook everyday or are their leftover days. I guess I am just curious what you eat off camera. Looks really yummy.
Be sure to watch Justine prepare this meal!! ruclips.net/video/vY5mjSQPTyw/видео.html&ab_channel=EarlyAmerican

Oh she talks. I’m coming from your “American Frontier” channel. I’m new to u. Nice to hear your expression. I did subscribe to both channels.
The gravy combination reminds me of my husbands Greek relative's food. His favorite was lemon in chicken soup.

Add a little more sugar to your pickled lemon . It will cut the perfume taste. And heat them to a boil. Almost forgot that part
