After watching your videos for a while I've been inspired to romanticize cooking meals at home. I've really noticed a difference in how much I enjoy cooking when I slow everything down and have intention through every step of bringing the meal together. Now cooking has become something I genuinely enjoy so thank you for the inspiration! ❤️
My mother washed the beet greens ,radish leaves , basil ,parsley and sometimes the carrot greens and put them in our salad, it was always a lot of flavor.
Well, 200 years ago, it was 1822. There was no electricity, no cars, women and girls wore long skirts and dresses, men and boys wore suspenders with their pants, kids went to one room schoolhouses, and women and girls also wore bonnets.
I would like a tour/showcase of all the cooking implements. I’m pretty sure we all realize there wasn’t electricity or running water or indoor plumbing and different clothes.
You two are such a delight to watch. You seem to enjoy what you are doing in keeping a time in history relevant to us all. I am sure it is a lot of work but the videography and ambience is so calming. Love this channel.
I just discovered this channel and I am now absolutely obsessed. I love it so much!!! Thank you for all the hard work you obviously do to make these videos! This is incredible! ❤
Thank you Ron and Justin for the videos you are sharing which I used to watch whenever I get free time. The way Justin cooks food without any hurry inspires me to do so and she shows that slow and steady wins the race.
Your kitchen looks like my kitchen. I live in the Netherlands and we have a medieval castle. I try to make it as medieval as possible, it makes me feel cosy. We also have a fireplace in the kitchen and a very large stove.
I really love you guys! I think I have watched every single one of your videos. Some a few times. Looks like you are headed to 1 million subscribers. You deserve it. Always anticipating another video. ~Cheers
I've only discovered your channel a few days ago and I'm hooked on your vids! People were so much healthier back in the day because everything was made from scratch, using real ingredients and whole foods. None of the packaged gravy or instants. Fast food literally didn't exist back then! I'll be making the mustard and egg dressing for my salad tomorrow. Thanks for the awesome videos! I hope you'll keep making them.
Oh yes people were healthier, died of simple infections , Tuberculosis, women in childbirth of sepsis, malnutrition aka hunger, water ws contaminated, So much healthier.
The 18th and 19th century really is a good reminder that cooking healthy food at home beats eating out and ordering food. Like I was thinking literally if we all learn to cook at home food that isn't gonna cause us to have consistent diharea then we'd all be fresh and fit(no pun intended) and we'd be living long satisfying lives.
I must admit I always threw away radish greens 🙈 shame on me to never even try how they taste and wasting them yet here they’re used in the salad! I’ll give it a try too 👌
Cooking at home and taking these steps is sooo much better! The food tastes better and you feel better after eating it and goodness a salad that size would be $50+ which is ridiculous! Gardening and old time preparation are underrated! My wife and I love your channel and may you keep it up! God bless you 😀
justine I love watching you and your husband cook I think it will now be my favorite video I hope you show more with your husband cooking, I was looking forward to your videos ❤️
And I actually learned something today. I have been cooking since I was probably around 11 or 12 years old (and I'm 38 now) I seriously never knew that you could eat the leaves of the radish!! Thank y'all for sharing!!
I love that you added the radish greens to the salad. Whenever I go to the farmer's co-op or farmers market, I like to buy the radishes with the greens attached. I "frizzle" the greens in a little bacon fat, let them cool, then add them to my salad with the sliced radishes, some other greens and croutons. Here's my spur-of-the-moment dressing: Dijon mustard, white wine vinegar, walnut or avocado oil, a little sugar, a pinch each of salt and fresh-ground pepper, and dill.
Thank you for producing such quaint adorable videos that are a teaching lesson as well. I like to make salads a lot with lettuce, spring mix greens and radish, cucumber, green onion, tomatoe, if I have it boiled egg, avocado, shredded chicken or fish, and homemade croutons, even shredded cheese or crumblies of blue cheese. So many many ways to make salad indeed.
From Deb…It’s a highlight of my day when a new video pops up. The salad dressing looked delicious! Heading over to chew and chat. Hope it’s getting cooler for ya’ll. Thanks for blessing us with your wonderful videos.
Ron and Justine I was watching this video as I folded clothes and of course I enjoyed it as usual. That bit a the end with the rabbit…hilarious, made me chuckle. As the season is turning to fall, my mind turns to thinking of ways to cozy up for winter. Your cabin is really looking inviting, it definitely is cozy, by the fireside worthy. Blessings from smokey North Idaho, TeresaSue.
I absolutely love your videos and think you guys are just adorable. I truly enjoy watching y'all, it's calming and I appreciate that. Also I've been trying your recipes and learning so much more about our history and cooking. You guys are awesome, thank you for your videos, 🥰
I love eating salads in the summer. I really like radish in mine. Growing up eating salads with iceberg lettuce is the reason why salads didn’t taste that great as a kid. Mixed greens 🥬 is the best.
I have been watching your videos for a few months and I think what you are doing is amazing! Every time after I get done watching I'm starving!!!! Lol!!! Whoever says you're a bad cook are idiots. You gotta go by what the historical recipe says to make it right! You keep doing what you are doing. You're doing a great job!
I really like the knife you use in your video's. Is it available to purchase anywhere? Your meal looks delicious. I was in a Rev. War reenactment group and know how hard it is to cook meals over the fire with those heavy cast iron pots. You do such a great job! I always look forward to seeing you and Ron in your videos.
I have only recently found your channel.....today I went thrifting and I found this incredible covered stoneware dish.....at least pie size....it was only $7....no cracks or chips....perfect...and guess who I thought of? I couldn't help but think of you and the fun recipe that you have been waiting for the right dish to come along so you could make it. I didn't buy it....but if I knew I could have sent it to you....I would have....you need that dish!!!🥧
I like your videos. They are very entertaining and pleasant. The characters are very nice. Justine is a very pleasant person and she has a soft voice. The outfits and garments are very well chosen. This gives us an insight on how people lived in the early 1800's in America. Thanks
Portobello mushrooms, $7.00 for two. Boston/bibb lettuce, $4/head. Heirloom cherry tomatoes, $6.75 per pint. Salad dressing, $5 for 4 ounces. Cheaper for me to go out and eat.
A lot of things are so much simpler than we realize . I do my own country gravy and dressings now. Sometimes I use leftover bacon fat in place of butter and works great and is a great way to use up everything
I thought poor Ron was going to starve to de@th. And please get some more carrots for that adorable bunny.🐰 I enjoyed you feeding your chickens. Beautiful birds 🐔😍
Legend has it that to this day Ron is still sniffing everything, everywhere.
Love your vid btw
I LOVE YOU🌸👌🏻🌸💌

I absolutely love their channel .inspiring cooking beautiful to watch .just the sounds are wonderful .thank you guys 😊
Watching Justine is tranquilizing. It's inspired me to take a slower, more patient approach.
I do the same now!
My mother washed the beet greens ,radish leaves , basil ,parsley and sometimes the carrot greens and put them in our salad, it was always a lot of flavor.
They are for the chickens.
So healthy!!!
Beet greens are also delicious cooked. Carrot greens are delish in a salad. Let the critters find their own nibbles.
The ending with the rabbit was adorable! Also, I’m glad Ron didn’t begin eating without Justine. He is a very smart man! 😂
I love the way you don't rush to cook. I take my time cooking too. Love the old recipes and even given me ideas for my meals
Can you do a tour of this little house?! I love it and I’m so curious what all the things were used for and how we lived 200 years ago!
Well, 200 years ago, it was 1822. There was no electricity, no cars, women and girls wore long skirts and dresses, men and boys wore suspenders with their pants, kids went to one room schoolhouses, and women and girls also wore bonnets.
I would love that too
I would like a tour/showcase of all the cooking implements. I’m pretty sure we all realize there wasn’t electricity or running water or indoor plumbing and different clothes.
Wow! what a special video! Ron cooking and a special appearance by Alfred! As always Justine doesn't disappoint!

Those radishes look lovely.
Always appreciate the history menus. Delicious meal. Enjoyed Ron helping Justin in the kitchen.
Wow!!! That is by far the healthiest looking romaine lettuce I’ve ever seen!!! Making me want a nice big bowl of Caesar salad!!! 😋
Yes! The video I’ve been waiting for! 🙏

So Ron wanted to get in on some of the cooking action 😄😄😄 awesome!!!

This is so peaceful and calming. Thanks! Thank you very much for taking us back in time.
Justine, I love watching your videos. They’re so relaxing and soothing.

If you have constant diarrhea I don't think it's the food that you get you should probably go see a doctor .
@@sirclarkmarz True but you get the point I was trying to make
You may have a gluten or dairy allergy, 2 most common these days
Love watching your videos! It’s a true joy and super relaxing watching you cook. You’re an inspiration. Thank you and Ron for all your hard work 🙌🏻

Another great video and get to watch both of you prepare something for the meal. Salad is always good but pork chops and gravy is delish.
This is awesome and so relaxing and meditative
Life is better simpler!
I just tried your vinaigrette for the first tim3 today and absolutely LOVED IT! Keep up the great work! Love from Canada!
That pork chops from Ron looking very good! Mmm
I watched this while eating a bowl of ice cream and thought how nice a salad would be right about now.
And I actually learned something today. I have been cooking since I was probably around 11 or 12 years old (and I'm 38 now) I seriously never knew that you could eat the leaves of the radish!! Thank y'all for sharing!!
They are the most nutrishious
Ron, those pork chops look absolutely deelicious 😋 Justine isn't the only good cook in that cabin! ☺ ❤

Thank you for this video! 😀🌸
It`s always great to watching your videos. Thank you from Norway.
Hilarious 😂. However, wow a man that can and will cook from that Era! Definitely a keeper.
I absolutely enjoyed your show I'm glad that in the English language of all of
The cooking of all of the dishes I had made almost
60 years now.

Only 1800's kids remember this
Radish leaves when not woody yet are pretty good. So easy to grow. I didn't expect them to keep coming back after they went to seed.
Good video
Ron is a man of action!
Nicely done. Was baffled that olive oil was already around in America in the 1810s, but apparently the Franziskanas brought it over in 1770 already.
Always love your videos!!!
Thank you.

Am I the only one who loves the sounds of Justine cooking..
