They're VERY good. I'm glad I discovered them. I am always interested in that historical period in time. My female ancestors may have disagreed, given the modern household inventions, but I sometimes feel like that time period went by too fast. 💜
@@honorsilverthorne7227 I'm a woman and I completely agree with you. Present day is certainly a much easier, more affluent life but I wish I was alive in the 17th or 18th century. Life was more difficult but it feels somehow more fulfilling with a stronger sense of family and community. I think people today (though more able to connect with eachother) are just lonely and lost
Listening to the rain coming down sounds very cozy. You are going to need a nap after eating all those sweets lol 😉Seems like the perfect afternoon for it. 🥂🌻🌸🌼
I'm so glad I found you and Justine. I have almost watched every video on her channel now I plan on doing the same here. I always said I was born in the wrong century. Just love all of your videos. So nice to watch and learn about life during those times. Sending warm thoughts to you both.
Pamela, try reenacting your favorite time. There are reenactors for all time periods all over the US. I have reenacted from the 9th century, 13th century, and the Civil War.
Watching both of your channels is my favorite part of the day! If I’m ever having anxiety, I go straight to one of your videos on either channel to help. God bless and thank you for your time and work you put into these videos. It’s much appreciated!
I so agree. I often feel unwell during the night at the moment and here and Early American are the first places I go to feel comforted on sleepless nights. Much appreciated indeed!
I love sound of the rain crackling fire and food cooking. Every spring we stayed in cabins. My grandfather and dad worked on cabins getting then ready for the summer and fall season.awesome time with our family
Ron you did great just chatting alone. I enjoyed the sound of the rain, very relaxing. I LOVE Your guys videos. Makes me feel like I’ve taken a step back In time and makes me forget about the chaos in the world 🧘🏾♀️
@Lauri A ~ ~ funny you should comment on that expression. I had never heard it, except the times that I knew it to be true. So when I started dating “this guy” and he said that that, I believed him, I mean, afterall , I really liked him. Notice I’m not saying my age as I wasn’t young at that time! Anyway after about the 10th time, I questioned him about all these books he had read - then I found out ! Little embarrassed on my part, mostly all lying in his part!

I truly hope that you purchased the ones, like the Tea you wiped on your forehead and the bottle liquid that you opened, if they were not the test items , but I did love to see this ..
love the red bud trees! (at least they look like that in the video) I have one here in florida(they don’t do that great here) from my great grandpa’s farm up north , originally from the very early 1900’s ok….now to watch the video… 🤗
Ron, have you every tried Lactaid? Yesterday I whipped egg whites by hand using a whisk and it took a LOONNGG time. Justine is very dedicated to whisk eggs with 1820's equipment. I crochet and my favorite sweater pattern takes just under 2000 yards for a size 2X. That is actually a good price for hand died yarn. Thank you Kandye for the tour of your store.
Subscribed to Early American and love it. I just subscribed to this channel and binge watched both channels. Great videos and very informative. Purchased a 1855 farm house recently and love it (needs lots of work though). Thanks for posting these videos. Hope you had a wonderful Easter with Justine. 👍❤
It was relaxing to listen to Ron and enjoy the cabin. Even the gray light coming in through the window made it cozy. I like Kandye's store! I've been to stores like it, and I always enjoy the scent of candles or sachets that fills the store, and I always end up buying something nice. Ron made that pretty rocking horse? Coool!
Great job all by yourself Ron! Don't worry we won't have to tell Justine, the milk will talk behind your back tonight. I also want to say that the frame (picture?) of this video is as good as any print you can buy at the living history sites like Colonial Williamsburg and Sturbridge Village.
Love your cabin ! Also Kandye's shoppe and cabin !! I want one of your hour glasses !! Yes more tours of her shoppe!! Also Hopalong Hollow on you tube has a great video on colonial teas !! With a tea party !!
You both are so welcoming! I introduced Justine's channel to my niece in Medical Residency and she loved them....I love that your channel is different. I started watching at about 130K subs. Your channels are growing.
I just discovered your videos a short time ago, and I have been binge watching! Justine, your cooking/baking skills are amazing over an open fire! Thank you Ron and Justine for these enjoyable and educational videos!
I am also lactose intolerant. I have used goat's milk for years, but just recently found out that sheep's milk doesn't have the issues with a "goaty" flavor. It's also supposed to be a little sweeter than cow's milk. Just a thought...if your future property is wooded, goats might work...if you have pasture, sheep would work. From experience, I know sheep respect fences much more than goats do.
I really enjoy this channel and Early American . You guys are a great team. I just recently came across your videos and I’m glad I did. Keep them coming! Take care!
Well done, Ron for doing this tasting alone. You speak so well and are an excellent cake describer. Caraway seeds are a wonderful, and now much underused, ingredient. Here in the UK we have a traditional medieval recipe for Cattern cakes, which were made, especially by lacemakers, for St Catherine's Day/Catterntide on 25th November. I make them every year and they are delicious. As for plums, our old plum pudding, eaten at Christmas, has no plums in it either. As someone else said, 'plum' was once a word used for currants, which is a bit confusing to us now. Thank you for another wonderful video. I loved the sound of the rain.
Perfect place to spend a rainy day along with some delicious treats. Like the bunny on the mantel. Hope to tour Kandye's shop someday. Interesting learning about the unique tea varieties and what was popular at the time. Love both of you gal's beautiful outfits.

I have to ask do yall live in the cabin full time? I love it! Reminds me of growing up on a farm. We had mules we plowed and rode. Heated and cooked with wood. Used the fireplace until we found a good Home Comfort wood cook stove. Milked two cows twice daily made butter. Sold butter and eggs, cakes , pies , bread , rolls etc.. made lye soap. Raised live stock to butcher. We had a feather bed not straw. Love the videos!!
6:35 In old recipes, interestingly, "currant" is actually meant to refer to a type of small raisin (sometimes called "Zante currants"). The berries that we call "currants" today got that name more recently (maybe because someone thought they were similar in some way?)
Nicely done! Thanks 4 sharing your time/talents with us all! Ron, maybe set a nice little carrot on; 'Alfred's lap' to make up 4 calling him; 'Albert' so many times! LOL! Justine would have teased you about that one. I find the pound cake thins interesting. Looks like a nice treat to pack away on a trek, to keep you caloried up! I wonder if you have rhubarb on your lot. Rhubard, cut into inch sizes with water and brown sugar simmered to a soft boil for about a 20 minute period, then used as a glaze over cakes or just with some cream or with strawberries is; YUM! Justine, I could just smell the teas you enjoyed so much! Thanks 4 the tour and nice rocking horse Ron! Health and God Bless! :)
