Thanks Dom. Currently trying to fit the double din system with an andriod 10 stereo system. The harness has got me stumped. I need to connect from the standard TT female sockets (non-Bose) which have a 20 pin and two 8-pin sockets, into an ISO connector with 16 male pins. Well researched as always, Dom. I really got fed up with the cost and grief of upgrading and so went for the (Dominic Parrott) recommendation of the FM transmitter ages ago. I was so happy with it, as you know, I ended up hardwiring it into the 12v socket so that the ashtray cover closes correctly. I'm pretty sure there's an age factor thing going on here because I'm not that into listening to "tunes" whilst driving, like my younger fellow TT owners may be into. Certainly not enough to fanny about changing head units. Word to the wise, if anyone takes the head unit out, do a "comfort blinker" upgrade while you're at it. Keep up the good work, Dom. :-)
Yeah I tend to agree, just fitting a transmitter covers most vases and takes about 5 mins 😂 and the cheapest option too. What’s not to like. But yeah if your a sound connoisseur And want to feel every single note through your chest then it may not be for you & may want to look at upgrading everything

I bought the Metra 70-1787 Radio Wiring Harness On Amazon for $20 and it worked great. It Has 2 sets of rca's for front and back Worked with my factor amp well. Just need to set up that on hot wire. Thanks for posting. 2003 audi tt coupe bose.

Hi James, I fitted the Pioneer AVH-Z7200DAB, which is a flip up Screen and yes does clear the TT Flap by it sticks out just too far to be able to close the flap when not in use. Also I have a Roadster and find the screen too dark wth the roof down so looking at other options
I am enjoying the XCarLink bluetooth adapter that connects to the back of the OEM concert radio with a Y cable to the CD so you can use both. Auto connects to my iPhone. On.y issue is slightly lower default and bass… any tips for that im all ears :)

Makes sense now! Bought a cheap Halfords loom and only get low volume sound from the front. Guessing I need to need to get the canbus loom to get the amp and rear speakers to fire up?

Your best option is to pull your stereo forward, check what plugs you have and then see what you have, if you cant suss it out send me a clear pic of all the plugs and i can look

I don’t I’m afraid, as I’ve not looked into changing my speakers, just my stereo unit atm. Best to seek advice from a sound company as they might be able to have something compatible with your current amp

I pretty sure my system isn't a Bose system, coz it doesn't say Bose on one of the speakers I've looked at. My question is, as I've been gifted a Bose HU, will it work with my non Bose system?
Hey, it’s all dependant on what plugs you have at the back of the HU. You may find it works but it may or may not turn off as the canbus is different between units. It’s worth a try

Hey kevin, its a tough one for sure, was it all working then suddenly everything went off besides that one speaker? if so then i would say check everything is plugged in ok then if so likely the amp or headunit is playing up,
@@TheParrottBros it was all working before a whole load of electrical issues and repairs to the engine, the fuse on the stereo went so replaced that and now just the one speaker! Thanks I guess process of elimination now
I changed from the original Chorus Tape 4B..186 to Concert Cd 4B.. 186S, it hardly fits and also it does not illuminate at night nor display on the Dashboard. Anyone help please?
You would have to try and find the wiring diagrams online, as the canbus may differ between the two models and is awaiting for a signal that may never come
I installed a pioneer head unit and now my OEM plug isn't working. i plug in the code reader and it says there is a connection error, any ideas on what is happening?

ebay link for the bluetooth is now outdated. My radio is appalling , looks like the original aerial has been replaced by a stubby thing. Are the original stereos susceptible to different aerials being used ? Or can the aerial lead come a drift easily ? (I haven't checked yet - sorry !)
If it’s a stock stereo there is every possibility it’s come away from behind, if you have a roadster the stubby thing usually isn’t an issue. Could have come away underneath
Can't recommend Enfig Car Stereos enough. They make plug and play harnesses for a wide away of Audis/VWs etc. I've got one in my TT with Bose and another in my B6 A4
There is a chance than some of the really Early ones may have missed it but I’ve not personally seen any. A friend of mine had a Bose X reg one and that was.
I have a problem with my rear passenger speaker got the 3.2v6 it makes a wherrring noise and goes up in pitch when accelerating and deceleration any ideas what the problem is useful video Dom 👍
Thanks for that I have heard somewhere before that it could be the amp what would cause the interference it seems to happen in the warmer weather as it didn’t do it in the winter time

the carbon one is a little more enclosed which will help with heat soak and looks MEGA COOL !! but if buying new you wont notice much for the extra £400

I have no idea what's going on with the stereo in my 2003 180hp FWD TT..the main unit behind the flip cover is a Kenwood HDD thing with a flip out screen but, it's all Japanese..previous owner couldn't figure it out so they just added a CD player deck under the ashtray..they both "work" but, the sound sucks on both.. the highlight is the sexy sounding Japanese girl that says something when I remove the faceplate on the Kenwood unit..
hahaha that sounds like a nightmare, i would remove them both and see if you can find a manual and a way to turn it to english, failing that when out you can check the plugs and get something new. someone could of changed the speakers and ditched the amped ones so thats worth a check too
Yeah I can imagine the rear speaker upgrade made a massive difference!! Yeah Bluetooth technology is much better in a complete new unit offering playback and calls etc

Which fm transmitter did you go for as I think I'm going to go down this route or possibly the pure/alpine ez dab setup

thats a good question, it should do as you can turn a stock stereo on without the keys in the ignition and it will work

You simply remove the panel under the drivers steering wheel and attach a fused live to the Yellow m6 terminal under the fusebox for a switch live

There is a possibility that you may have blown a fuse in the process, check the fuses associated with the stereo

How involved is that to bypass the bose system?
It’s just a case of rewiring the speakers dude, so run new wiring either from the head unit to each speaker or remove amp and change wiring from there

Likely to either be interference on the cable anywhere in the system, or possibly an issue with the amp. I don’t think it will be the speaker itself

I have no idea what's going on with the stereo in my 2003 180hp FWD TT..the main unit behind the flip cover is a Kenwood HDD thing with a flip out screen but, it's all Japanese..previous owner couldn't figure it out so they just added a CD player deck under the ashtray..they both "work" but, the sound sucks on both..
the highlight is the sexy sounding Japanese girl that says something when I remove the faceplate on the Kenwood unit..
hahaha that sounds like a nightmare, i would remove them both and see if you can find a manual and a way to turn it to english, failing that when out you can check the plugs and get something new.
someone could of changed the speakers and ditched the amped ones so thats worth a check too

bluetooth sound quality sucks so i went for alpine head unit with iphone support , sound is much better, got alpine rear speakers too
Yeah I can imagine the rear speaker upgrade made a massive difference!! Yeah Bluetooth technology is much better in a complete new unit offering playback and calls etc
