- After a Millcreek man was denied by his car warranty company for thousands of dollars in repairs to his vehicle, he decided it was time to Get Gephardt.
Extended warrantees are not worth the money. Instead save the money each month for repairs. There is a reason Car Shield is not allowed to do business in California.
I didn’t know they weren’t allowed there. Thanks for pointing this out
Mostly yes but there are good ones out there. Zurich is good I've had them. They covered over $10,000 in repairs on my 2019 GMC Acadia. Carshield is a scam though. Even all the shops told me that Zurich is the best for extended warranties
I wouldn’t use California as an example of anything but complete failure.
If all companies are smart they would refuse to do business in Commiefornia.
It's because of consumer protection laws. You cant even buy oem warranty from an out of state dealer.
Car Shield and Home Shield are the top thieves of denials...
SUCKER born EVERY minute!!!
Top thieves of denials... So they steal denials? What does that even mean?? How are they stealing denials, and why would they steal denials?
Your comment makes NO sense...
@@BeccaHetrick Work for them?
@@BeccaHetrick ok, let me try another tact for you... they TAKE denials so they don't have to PAY, as opposed to GIVING approvals that they lay money out for... I've written service work orders out where they'd pay for the failed part, in this case, the bolts, but decline to pay for the warped head 'because that should be regularly looked at and maintained'. Anything they have to pay out for, the next round of contract agreements closes the loophole from the original. They are thieves, pure and simple... one reason I buy new.
"Extended Warranty" mean we will happily take all of your money but we will NEVER PAY YOU EVER. The "exceptions" are endless, on purpose.
sounds like insurance companies.
One Born every day
odd how they denied his claim several times, then the news starts to ask questions and the claim is magically paid and the customer is not to speak about it any further.
I hope these so-called car warranty people go out of business❗❗❗
NOT as long as they keep making VERY STUPID “customers.”
Billion dollar industry, right up their with those cheap life insurance policies for old people.
They do so regularly, bankrupt and start again as a new company!
they won't because there is a sucker born every minute.
Vigilance committees are the only hope. The people have to act on a personal level. These evil people live somewhere.
When are people going to realize that extended warranties are a scam and they will do the maximum minimum to pay out.
It depends on the car and the companies.
Channel DougDeMuro purchased a Landrover (or a used high end SUV) from CarMax, he alakpurchased their Warranty package
Yes the package was expensive, it more than paid for it self when it expired.
His Warranty ended up paying out 10k to 15k+ for repairs.
@@NextNate03 That was years ago...around 2017 I believe. Since then around 2019, CarMax has discontinued their own brand of extended warranty.
Just like with all the other scams, only stupid people and the elderly fall for them...
@@NextNate03I highly doubt that... Do you have proof?
The worst part about all this is that they got him to agree to an NDA/Non-disparagement agreement. He didn’t get his warranty claim paid. He was given hush money.
Don't think the cash spends any differently.
Hush money is my favorite kind of hush..
Exactly!
There is no need to talk about this any further, what could he say? I think the message is much more powerful this way! To keep his mouth shut doesn't really do anything positive for car shield, just the opposite...
Hush money is still green--it's too bad he had to get the news media involved.
Car shield is a scam. All of these extended warranty are like this. I used to work at a Ford/ Chrysler dealership as a service writer. We had so much trouble with them that we wouldn't deal with them because it was always something just like this. They would either do like the gentleman here with the non covered part for whatever reason or the, that's too much and would want to cut our throats so to speak. When they wouldn't pay and it landed back on the customer, let's just say there was a lot of yelling at us. We got to where we wouldn't deal with them. If you had a contract you paid your bill and then went after their money back from the company. Wynn's was the big one back then and this is the same stuff they did and that was late 90's. Crooks never change.
I cant believe anyone actually buys that garbage. Lol
Car Shield is the worst!!!! They brag in their commercials about how good they are, then when u file a claim, its denied!!! I thought I saw somewhere that there was a class action law suit against that company? I got my extended warranty from my dealer when I bought my vehicle out of my lease!
I've used the dealer's extended warranty twice in the past, on two cars. Both times they did pay for covered repairs, which basically equaled what I paid for the warranty.
Why do you think they only have a "1" star review from the BBB, with 3400 complaints in the last year. Truly a buyer beware company.....
looked it up on the BBB site
I bought one of these Car Shield warranties once, and then my transmission went out. They then refused the claim because they said my car was never eligible for a warranty in the first place. I say fine, so just refund me all the premiums I paid since it was never valid to begin with. They declined, and wouldn't pay me a dime until I lawyered up.
Those limited supply gold coins and Liberty Dollars, dont buy them either, Daniel.
Right …. 😆😆
sounds like car-shield needs to be looked at in a big way if they have to force a old man to sign a NDA just to get paid for something that should of been covered
Sounds like someone else who has been in the news lately.
I knew it was a scam all along
It doesn't take a rocket scientist, to figure out no one is going to pay out much to anything. With a warranty on old vehicle's, just like the ones on your home appliance and the life insurance policies for the elderly.
It's best to do 2 things: 1) Don't buy Ford 2) Don't buy extended warranties.
And Don't buy GM , Nissan , Mazda , Mercedes , Chrysler , Datsun, Desoto , Plymouth, Packard. . . . . . ..
Never ever buy an extended warranty unless you have some friends that work there who can hook you up.
Wait till warranty has to replace taillights on that truck. If equipped with ptoximity sensors $2,655 to 3 ,400 each due to water intrusion issues over time this will happen
Car shield is a joke go with manufacturer extended warranty its worth it 😊👌
Years ago I was offered headlight restoration at a Walmart and bought it. They ruined my headlights and they were just all scratched up. I was shocked to find out the lights were 3,000 to replace, I filed a claim with Walmart and their insurance denied it. I sued them in small claims court and they settled within days after I emailed the recording of the manager guaranteeing reimbursement and apologizing. They no longer do that service at Walmart stores around here, the product was deemed defective.
They're just like any other insurance company: Their first response is to always just deny the claim.
a waste of money
This is why i refused to deal with Carshield. Great commercials, but thousands complained about them refusing to cover a claim.
First mistake he did was purchasing a FORD
Nothing to do with the brand, any vehicle has its faults, everyone knows this
@@treverhackett The EcoBoost (aka EcoBoom) engines are very unreliable
Chevy manifolds and Dodge manifolds all the bolts break on them
Those Ford EcoBoost (aka EcoBoom) engines are notoriously unreliable.
@@treverhackett I was just being funny
Call that POS "Ice Tea" to pay for your needed car repair lol!
thats car shield for ya thats why i checked reviews carshield is notorious for not paying
His first mistake: He bought a Ford.
Second mistake: Carshield "warranty".
3rd party Warranties on vechiles past the federal powertrain warranty have a lot of exceptions written into them. I have never had issues with the manufacturer extended warranties.
I know people that used to work for car warranty companies. They will come up with any reason to not pay a claim.
In 1998, I purchased an extended warranty. For the first year I was actually "double covered" (1) new car warranty (2) extended warranty. In my opinion this is crazy. The extended warranty should start when the "New car warranty" ends. In other words i paid for a three year extended warranty but actually received two years on the "extended warranty". The extended warranty associate said the "new car warranty" pays first. This works similar to a healthcare "supplemental insurance". The extended warranty was $2300. I never collected on the extended warranty but learned a valuable lesson. Extended warranties are not worth the paper they are written on. Many people with high mileage vehicles buy these extended warranties but they pay a lot more dependent on the make, model, and mileage of the vehicle. Cost is based on age of the vehicle, and mileage.
I’ve dealt with the same idiots exactly one time I tried to warn everybody stay away from them thieving lying losers they did this to me. All the reviews are very positive because you reviewing the purchase process.
I stopped using “extended warranties” years ago, when I got one on a new washing machine. It started having problems, and I found out to get repairs, I could not use my usual repair shop and had to use theirs. They sent their guy out, and he had to order a part. Months later, he came out and discovered that it was the wrong part. This happened a couple more times and finally he got it repaired. I NEVER had this problem with my usual repair shop! Never again.
Your fault for not reading the contract
Freedom warranty is really good. Paid $3k for the warranty and so far it paid out $8k new drive shaft, lower control arms, oil cooler lines, rear axles and a rear differential seal.
Someone needs to investigate these warranty companies
How people continue to let themselves be conned...
Many independent shops will not deal with a customer with Car Shield.
Extended warranties can only come from the manufacturer/dealer. If it is with anyone else it is a service plan and a scam.
Why people buy these extended warranty products is beyond me me , these are garbage !
I don’t trust these car warranty companies or those companies that claim to insure household appliances and HVAC units. It’s not worth the fight you have to go through to get them to pay out.
The life insurance for the elderly ones are a scam too, they pay out pennies.
$2500 dollar repair sounds like the insurance company not the only one fking him over but his mechanic is too
Daniel wants your help then when he gets it he stops talking to you. Now that’s a prick.
Didn’t stop talking to him, just couldn’t disclose the settlement details. Who’s the prick?
Still Daniel. You don’t seek help and then agree to not speak to the one that helped you.
Daniel is a sellout. Im sure they threatened to sue if he disclosed the deal they made him, but he sold his soul for a few scheckels.
He didn't stop talking to them. He told them that he can't answer because he obviously signed an agreement that says he will stop talking about them... LIKE THEY SAID... 🤦🏼♀️
You're a prick...
Torching out those manifold bolts is a s**t job and time consuming in a cramped area. Ask me how I know.
How many decades has this been going on!? Is this the first car this 70 y /o guy has ever bought????
The car warranty I bought from my credit union refuses to repair my 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I bought the elite and was told that it was basically a bumper-to-bumper warranty. Just like the manufacturer offers. I took my truck to the dealer to get an oil change and was told my passenger side ball joints and tie rod ends are bad and they only have 20,000 mi on them. Warranty company refuses to cover it saying that they are wear item. But in the elite paperwork they are not excluded. The only wear items are brakes, tires, wiper, blades stuff that you would expect not to be covered.
Their reps are specifically trained to deny every claim. Its a numbers game. There are a small number of customers who are willing to go through hoops for a paid claim.
Warranty companies will use any and all excuses to deny your claims. They already have your money so they really don’t care. The only reason they resolved this man’s issue was the fact they knew that he was going to be interviewed for a news story. So they settled but won’t allow the owner to give specifics to the news station.
They’ve been trying to reach this guy for years, they called almost everyone in the country to track him down
No extended warranty will cover hardware (bolts), the manifold warped, and then the bolts broke. He got the manifold and labor covered to R&R the manifold, he did not get the labor covered for extraction of the broken hardware (bolts). Very common, he should be happy. That was an expensive repair.
Customers don't read the contract fully and then expect everything to be covered. That's half the problem.
I bought an extended warranty through Endurance and while they were sometimes a bit picky on labor costs from the shop I used for repairs, they always paid up. I had a $100 deductible. I had to have a few high-dollar repairs done to a vehicle I had and the warranty paid for itself on those repairs.
There are numerous complaints about Carshield not paying for claims you can find online. Most extended warranty companies are crooks 😕
I've never heard of an extended car warranty actually paying. They are all a 100% complete scam. I got burned twice when I was younger. Never again. Save the premiums you would have paid to those scammers and just pay for your car repairs. It's many times cheaper.
So cover the manifold costs and have the customer pay like $10 for the bolts. If the bolts aren't covered.
They did not want to cover the labor as well. It's a scam company.
@@markg7030 like most warranty and insurance.
Yet another reason to get an extended warranty. They always look for a reason to deny because most people will just accept that answer instead of fighting it.
It's a scam, I bought a 1 yr warranty yrs ago w a Jeep from the dealership, the distributor rotor was bent a tiny bit, they denied me saying "if oil doesn't touch the part we don't replace it", lol, I said oil does touch the gears on the bottom of the distributor rotor, it literally sits on top of your manifold and has oil spraying on the gear. No use arguing w professional scammers. Another rip off is pet ins, my vet said she recommends just putting the same amount you pay them into a savings acct instead, if you get lucky most dogs don't need much bet care outside shots and minor stuff, and when your dog or cat dies, you might have $1000's in the bank to buy another pet or do as you like. When your vet (good honest ones) tells you it's shady you listen.
Why dont state attorney generals shut these scam artists down
These bolts breaking from many heat cycles is also common on the Ford V8 engines as well as the Chevy LS engines too.
I have an extended warranty from ASC on my F150. They recently paid the full cost (parts and labor) to replace the oil pan and water pump. They approved OEM parts, because I didn't want to use aftermarket parts. I had already paid out of pocket for the water pump, so I sent them the service invoice, and they quickly sent me a check for the full amount! If you can get an extended warranty from ASC, I highly recommend that you do!
Exactly what my mechanic warned me about.
If you are soft headed enough to buy an extended automobile warranty you get what you deserve.
Come on, it's 2024, there are no Nigerian princes that need you to send them cash.
There are no reputable automotive extended warranty companies in existence.
PERIOD
Your best bet is a smart purchase and a good relationship with a mechanic.
Spread this on social media so other people don't fall prey to this garbage company.
People plz don't EVER buy car or home warranty scams!!
Plz be smarter than that!
When you go to any store whether an electronic, furniture store, dealership or insurance and the salesman offers to sell you an extended warranty, don’t buy it. 9 times out of 10 you either won’t ever need to claim it because the sold the item before it broken down or if you file for a claim it would be denied. Save your money for repairs so if you ever need it for that it can be used for a different project because giving it to these companies it’s as good as gone. Besides, whatever you buy brand new already comes with a manufacturer warranty from the factory.
I would have thought that by now even the most ignorant person would know that extended warranties are a scam promoted by salesmen who get a huge commission.
I had one extended warranty contract and fought for over a year to get paid. I cancelled my policy and never bought another one. For all the products I purchased after that I put the equivalent amount the policy would cost me into a special savings account. I stopped doing that when the account hit $25k. I now have all the money I need for repairs and I don’t have to negotiate with anyone for my money.
that's surprising, insurance companies collecting your money but not covering a claim, that never happens.
can't believe people fall for these scams.
This company is dirty. Non-disclosure agreement in order to get what was rightfully yours. Thats a warning to everyone. Don’t ever touch any subsidiaries of this company
It's called a "scam" for a reason.
I worked with a guy who owned a 08 Ford pickup that caught fire due toa faulty windshield wiper motor. There was no recall on this and Ford told him it was cheaper to pay out lawsuits than it was to recall the trucks and fix the problems
Technically car shield should get in in trouble for paying off somebody to not say nothing that makes it look very obvious that they’re guilty
Cah Sheeld! It’s like a soot of ahmuh, fo’ yo’ cah! lololololol
I work at a Chrysler dealer and can say most 3rd party extended warranties are 💩. Mopar warranties are great. Usualy manufacturers extended warranties are great too. Some of the 3rd party warranties that I that i have worked with are Ally, CarMax, and Century, and some portfolio warranties are ok. But others are total 💩. They only cover some parts and only pay a certain amount of labor. The rest is up to the customer to pay.
I am surprised when an extended warranty does cover something.
The idea any extend warranty on your old vehicle would cover anything, these are along the same lines of those cheap life insurance policies for people in their 60's.
I had a car warranty with another provider that turned out okay. I had a 2.4 in an early Dodge Stratus, where the head gasket started leaking oil. Chrysler introduced an updated gasket later, but would not fix the earlier ones. My warranty company paid for most of the fix, even though it was a manufacturer defect. Interesting how they put this person under a "gag order."
I remember seeing a cartoon illustrating insurance companies. Two phones, one marked sales showing the phone connected. The other was marked claims with the entire phone line wrapped around the phone with the other end of the disconnected phone line in plain view
Time to call The Beekeeper on those scammers
I just put the money you pay for the insurance in a special savings account instead of giving to the insurance company. If you have no trouble with the vehicle, you have all your money back. If not, you use your own money. Insurance companies never lose !!
If you're stupid enough to buy one of these "polices" ... well it's on you.
Or a Ford ecoboost
Extended warranties are basically a scam do not buy them. They will look for any little things to deny your claim, but they still want your money.
That’s why you don’t fall for these extended warranties like Car Shield.
Chris Berman needs to go back to being the swami!
This is why you don't buy an extended warranty. All scams and nothing but pure profit for the dealer.
I'm a mechanic. At my shop we won't even attempt to deal with Car Shield. We tell customers they'll have to try on their own, but we'll save your hours of pulling out your hair and just tell you denied right now.
1st mistake buying an ecoboost, then buying the carshield.
Ungrateful man. Calls for help then clams up.
CARSHIELD has a plainly written fine print waiver on a Fleas back !
Extended warranties are a rip off. Put the premiums aside each month and pay for repairs on your own if they arise. My last 5 cars I did this and never needed a repair but I did put 24k in a side savings account.
Carshield used to call me everyday (once I requested a quote only) and was wanting to forcefully buy policy for Audi A6. Thankfully I ended up not buying the warranty.
He should contact the national highway traffic safety Administration they get enough complaints about it the manufacturer will recall it
I fell for that extended warranty crap from the last dealer I bought a car from. Never again, extended warranty are nothing but a scam
There are always loopholes. Stay away from Extended Warranties
JMO. If the vehicle manufacturer has a known manufacturing defect , then they should fix the problem at no cost to the owner. But, if the vehicle is more than ten years old or over 100K you are on your own.
The only extended warranty that I would ever trust would be the one from the vehicle manufacturer. In fact I would recommend it anyone who buys a new vehicle by an extended warranty from the manufacturer only, I said only and make sure that it is transferable. This is a huge selling point if you decide to get rid of the vehicle a few years down the road. If you don't understand vehicles and how they operate including engines and transmissions you are cannon fodder for these people selling extended warranties. One of the most important things nowadays is that you have extended warranty on the electronics as well. I am not aware of any manufacture building vehicles in the past five years that didn't have an issue with transmissions, engines or electronics and it ends up being big big bucks to fix it.
I always say if anyone wants a extended warranty get it from the car dealership any big name dealership sells extended warranty when buying a used car and when the warranty is up can extended even longer through the car dealership just have to pay all up front if not in car payment
Never buy a extended warranty through a 3rd party company like car shield
Warrantys are an old time car scam. If you absolutely must have one go straight to the company and purchase one there. Not at the dealership!
An individual robs somone can go to jail, a company robbing thousands of people, nothing happens..
Aftermarket car warranty companies all seem to be run by nefarious people. They do a great job of covering all the parts that usually never break - but completely hose policy holders on the parts with problems. Special note to EcoBoost owners, replace the troublesome factory bolts with superior fasteners from ARP. The best way to never have a claim denial is to to just say no to aftermarket extended warranty con schemes. The factory backed extended warranty plans are more expensive than the aftermarket extended warranty plans for the simple reason that the factory backed plans will actually pay for proper repairs. Do you know that some aftermarket warranty plans call for used parts?
These extended car warranty plans don't pay any claims
Imagine getting a extended car warranty coverage. Lol. Gullible.
Making an nda (my guess why he said what he did) to get compensation the company shoulda paid is wrong. Why is carshield so shady? What are they hiding?
They are hiding the fact that they don't pay.
🙁😀 Hope the car warranty finally fixed the vehicle correctly.
he threw the news reporter UNDER THE BUS, to save his wallet. that was shady because of CARSHIELD, imagine what the claims insurer rep said to the elderly !!!
Can’t believe any body would buy that garbage. Car shield and a ford
If this is a common fault with the ecoboost engines, there needs to be a recall. Exhaust leak presents safety issue.
