I was so on edge the entire stream thinking Dan would instantly snap and lob 800 meteors at the city but it looks like this city managed to live happily ever after, congrats Dan.
Were you there for the end of stream 2?
The end
Gotta love how hes like Jerma, just some psychopathic monster
I don't know if happily is the right word.
Fucking spoiler alert bro, what the hell
I could imagine a family moving into this city struggling to sleep as the giant doomsday clock counts down and they wait for their inevitable demise
The countdown clock, every second of your lives, ticking, each beat louder than the last. You're unsure how much longer until you gaze at the towering clock the mayor had constructed. A hundred feet tall, no matter how far you run, you hear it, you see it, you dread it
Imagine the real estate listing for a house in this city. "View the Doomsday clock from your front window, and the space shuttle launch site from your back yard!"

As an American I’m very proud of Dan, he immediately beelined to oil, just added more lanes whenever there was a traffic problem, and made the entire city for-profit
And immediately started insider trading. A true politician.

Ahahaha that’s true

Just in time for City Skylines 2
now, to do it all over again in cs2

-Does not use the upgrade tool to fix road direction
-Uses huge roads for normal residential streets
-Makes a city without annihilating it with tsunamis and shit volcanoes

Yes
Just think about the roads he will build in CS2

Knowing that this might be the last city rt makes in the original cities skylines brings a tear to my eye
3:03 thank you for selectively choosing which swears to leave in because it's adding emphasis and I love it.
As the god of the world of Cities: Skylines, he finally got bored of bombarding the planet with meteors and is now actually reading the instruction manual.
As somebody living in NYC I felt it in my soul when RT put the toll down just to leave the city 🙃
As someone living outside Philadelphia, at least he didn’t put one down to get into the city.
I absolutely hate the idea of tolls and love that they have none where I live so I refuse to use them in the game. I feel bad enough making people pay to go to the park. Why are my citizens paying more to visit just an ordinary park than a theme park?
"oh god we just spent 7 hours on this I completely lost track of time" is such a mood for every single time I've opened this game, it just takes you in a trance and you wake up in the middle of the night completely dehydrated and half-dead but with a great city!
The timer is actually so ominous, because when C:S2 releases, a lot of people will probably move on from this game. The city, and most importantly its inhabitants, will be left to rot. The timer counts down to when their god dies.
"See this, citizens? This is the day The Rapture commences!"
@@invurret9533 "Rapture" implies there may be salvation and/or rescue for at least some of them; I think we all know that ain't happening. With that in mind (and within the bounds of the _surprisingly dark_ thought experiment in which they are sentient and/or aware of their own existence), it's probably less cruel to go with a white lie here and just imply it anyway, given the hopelessly inevitable and total annihilation of their universe has rather morbidly come with a giant unmissable countdown on display😅
@mononymousm9342 only one of them needs to be saved. John will carry over and the rest shall be abandoned by God.
@@MononymousM one of the new parks is supposed to be like a teleporter that teleports citizens to cities skylines 2 so there could be salvation for some.
I don't think so actually. The first game already has so many mods and expansions. It will take a long time for CS2 to even remotely get close to that level. The exception being if the new game has most things already built in.
The sequel doomsday clock certainly carries some existential dread.
"Only _this much time_ until your existence becomes obsolete! A better world is coming, you just won't be in it :)"
A little bit of uncertainty goes away in the universe whenever RT starts a city skylines stream with "I'm going to simply try and make a functioning city"
EDIT: Wait, he actually did it?!
Just ignore the literal sea of shit.

I love alternating between RT’s cities and City Planner Plays - so different yet both so fun
RT: "Okay let's make this 6 lane one way road snake around. Don't mind it destroyed half of my buildings."
City Planner: "Okay, to encourage walkability and transit use we're putting bus lanes and throwing some higher density around here around the transmit hub to encourage transit orientated development."
The doomsday clock functioned nicely as a runtime timer for how long the stream went!
19:50 *Dan has created a literal Fallout VAULT.*
Fitting, considering all the social experimenting he's doing!
On today's episode we're seeing how many nukes it takes to reduce this metropolis sized civilian flesh wall into a fine soup
i read this in Jeremy Clarkson's voice for some reason
I think we all expected it; don't feel bad that you made the wrong call. Judging from the data pool we have of the interactions between RT and City Skylines, to say the odds were very much in your favour is an understatement.
@@faland0069 This made this comment so much funnier.
Edit: I keep reading it in his voice now. It's so fitting.
I finished a grilled cheese and tomato soup literally 70s before finding this comment and I wish I didn't
"They'll have to bury you in a soup can!"
YES!!! ITS BACK!!!
Also, a 7 hour stream? In 25 minutes? People weren’t kidding about your editor.
i need the video to be longer
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Cloé is a godsend
You literally cured my perfectionism. I mean, because I thought I had to create a perfect city when playing this game, I had been avoiding trying it. But after watching your videos, I realized I don't have to make a perfect city. This gave me the courage to start playing the game. You know, the whole reason to play this game is to enjoy it! 😊 So, thank you for having fun and being creative.
“I Made A Perfect City Using Cruelty in City Skylines”
Yeah, that’s a pretty accurate depiction of living in New York City.
5:57 now you can be ballin while next door they’re bawling
16:48 - “I’m trying to run this well! I’m not even trying to mess this up.”
Literally four seconds later - “They’ve got traffic lights too. Turn them all off.”
After watching this, I'd love to see RT collab with a professional City Skylines player after this to see if they can teach RT some actual tips for building a decent city.
I would LOVE to see Biffa come in here, critiquing this city while fixing it, but also kindly and encouragingly doing so since he would understand this is RT's first actual city, and thus has much to learn.
Not sure if anyones said this, but on the release date of CS2, RT should stream this city and level the city with meteors once the timer finally hits zero
as a city planning student, this is indeed one of the cities of all time
Someone needs to tell him that you can just swap directions of one-way roads by right-clicking with the upgrade tool
(Edit: nvm, he figured it out himself)
I hope we get to see this town again because it seems like he genuinely had fun doing this stream
I feel like that woman who's crying from watching the one guy put all the shapes in the square hole
it's nice seeing videos like this occasionally. still chaotic, but not to the point of destroying everything.
Honestly love the city design Dan did has a lot of character
7 accidental hours of Cities Skylines. As Paradox intended it.
This is an amazing game to show how the "one more lane" works
How many times has he started with the phrase "We're actually going to make a functioning city this time"?
Huh. It's technically a functional city, functioning on pure pain, but functioning nonetheless.
It's amazing how Dan just perfectly replicated normal American city planning
The most like whacky thing I dealt with as a kid living in a small town was having the cemetery right next to the school and thus the playground (fence separating one from the other). Super eerie
RT really got so invested in playing the game normally that he accidentally played it the best he's ever played it, and also managed to do it for 7 straight hours. 10/10
18:24 My college is right next a lake that is known for toxic algae and we are advised to not mess with the water because of it. One of the dorm buildings has a little landing by it that gives us easy access to the water though.
"Its a beach campus... just DON'T swim in the water"
this is just reality for the west coast US recently
Honestly, the fact he's still able to enjoy a game so much that he loses all track of time is great to see!! A lot of gaming content creators lose that love of games over time.
Yes RT playing City skylines is always amazing
The timer counting down to the citys doom is a nice feature!
After watching city planner plays for the past few weeks, I honestly don't know who makes a better city and I love that
RT, you need to play a game called Freeways. It's a puzzle game where you just create uncontrolled roads. You can learn actual traffic flow engineering through trial and error and it's a lot of fun.
Finally, the most grueling challenge of City Skylines.
Playing it like a sane person.
HEY EV3RY !!
While RT laughed at the concept of placing a basketball court next to a cemetary my IRL town actually has that lmao (the cemetary is between a kindergarden and school which is kinda funny to me.. The contrast is ironic. This is where you start and this is where you end. If you never leave the town that is ofc)
I love how everytime RT wants to do something unethical and destructive on city skylines the game lets him do it with no difficulty. But when RT wants to play the game properly and try to make a good functioning city the game maxs out on its difficulty and rains hell on RT.
Please keep working on this city, this was immensely enjoyable to watch
So glad that RT had such a fun time streaming this. Maybe I can learn how to actually play Cities Skylines now!
Road heirarchy my guy!! That’s why the traffic is so bad and you red line the zoning so everything is far so everyone has to drive, great video ‼️
“We’re gonna have a functional city.”
Immediately blows the entire budget on a suspension bridge.
I started playing this game after watching RTs videos and he has been a great master to not follow through most of the times, but now he has made the real advancedment of building a nice city
I love how Dan accidentally did Spiff’s investment tactics
Actually seeing Dan build a functioning city is absolutely insane. Truly the scariest thing on this channel yet
RT game city skylines videos are rare nowadays, but are always perfectly sadistic
this video is just a descent into madness as rt tries to do something he's just not meant to do
This city pretty tame if you look at it from a RimWorld players perspective
11:44 ...The entire city is a band-aid solution.
I remember i bugged the game so badly that the sewage turned drinkable like on the pollution tab i was clean but visually it was the darkest gray it could be in that city my water costs plummeted
0:45 Because it knows who’s playing.
it might have been difficult but I have a lot of respect for your restraint in not making a sewage lake
This is honest to god even more psychotic knowing you're trying to actually play the game this time
Im so happy to see RT playing this game legit, this was amazing
Hey Rt, just a small tip if you see this and wanna continue this city. You can upgrade and downgrade roads, you can even do this with pre-built ones like roundabouts. There's also tutorials on RUclips on other things you can make with roads to help traffic.
You can also just make underground roads if you ever get tired of bridges XD
Edit: nvm, I didn't realize there was another episode of this already out . . . Actually I misread this as "2 days ago" and not "2 months ago" so.. . . . Ignore me
I’m convinced rt is an absolute psycho, and when he tries to be normal, he can’t help but create chaos.
While watching this, my family (who're having a gathering in the garden) started playing Country Roads. Just throwing that out there.
legit felt like throwing myself in front of a bus but then rtgame uploads cant miss this

Huh, nearly drove off the road myself yesterday, but my body locked up before I could crank the wheel. It's some sort of horrific serendipity here.
Hope you're feeling better.
I can't exactly put it into words, but him claiming he will build a normal, functioning city and then almost exclusively using wide four or six lane roads deeply upset me. Never change, RT.
This game is one of RT's niche games. Ultimately entertaining!
He is gonna destroy it for content one day and it will be glorious.
1:34 Did the Irishman just say his land was too green? Sounds like blasphemy to me.
After spending over a year watching City Planner Plays and Biffa to learn how to make a realistic city, i suddenly feel much more confident in my abilities
Daniel playing Cities Skylines like the average person 💀
You have no idea how happy I am to see this, I binge the cs series constantly. It is my absolute favorite!
Imagine going to a city and right front and center they have a clock that counts down until "Earth 2".
Elysium
as someone who only knows this game from RT's content i legit didnt know like half of this content was in this game
like farming?? never knew
I was surprised that it didn’t end with a meteor shower and country roads in the background
True chaos is not always chaotic, but has moments of complete and utter sanity.
RT very much exemplified this today.
man has been playing Cities Skylines for like 5 years now and doesn't know you can use the upgrade tool to swap road directions and you don't need to destroy them
