A heart as big as Teeside, indeed. I had the privilege of having known Vin for many years. What a gent, he even played my guitar one time in the days of Redcar Folk Festival. He gave me solance at a close friends funeral, by pointing at a little flower, I'll never forget that. Gone but never forgotten. Bless ya Vin for your songs, music and banter. Xxx

Had the pleasure of meeting Vin during a festival in Holland, we did a lovely session back then. Me being Dutch, having stayed a while in Scarborough during my student days, he picked up on my Dutch/Northern accent - we had a blast and a laugh - lovely man, great musical inspiration - miss him and will love his songs forever. - big hug to Pat.....

Listened to him 40 years ago when I was working in the UK. Still remember him and his music after all this time. Unforgettable.

I first saw and heard Vin at the Cambridge Folk Festival at Cherry Hinton in 1981. Brilliant. A year or two later in the crypt of St Martin's in the Fields in Trafalgar square, where, in a much smaller place, where he struck up such a good relationship with the audience that the whole room felt like a gathering of friends. A lovely bloke. RIP, Vin. And thank you.

Amazing. I remember Vinny from our fun sessions in a pub in Broughton (teeside). Many of our group are dead, but Vin was a bit of an hero because he really enjoyed singing!.

Thank you for sharing the video. I totally agree re a statue of Vin Garbutt, get the ball rolling, Craig! It would be marvellous if it could be made by Ray Lonsdale, another of our local genius artists.

MacKenzie Thorpe should do a statue of Vin---Sitting On Top of the Transporter Bridge--similar to the Waiting for me dad Statue !
