Harbor Freight vs. Milwaukee Packout Comparison

- Straight up review point to point on price, quality, size, ease of use, and more between Bauer Storage System sold at Harbor Freight and the Milwaukee Packout system. Regular review from a regular guy. Not paid by either of these companies but just wanted a new solution to my tool storage. I don't have a giant truck so space is key, also I have to change tools from job to job a LOT, so I need something that will be customizable and easily go in and out of the car and the garage. I also drive a TON for work, so something that will be secure and keep things from banging around on back dirt roads is key. Let me know what you think and comment which system you prefer. I already returned one of them, I'll have the next video about customizing the winner up soon.
You still can get the ridgid for about the same as the Bauer.
Good to know. Thank you.
The green tape measure says it all.
Hart from Walmart for the win !
I dont think you could compare, the packout has a lot more accessories and people can customize it to fit their needs. from what I could tell the plastic on the Bauer looks thinner and most likely cannot handle the weight. But for a DIY person the Bauer might work the Bauer does not seem it can handle long term usage. I know my review seems bias but my shop all it has is Milwaikke and those boxes get beat up and can go on gravel, dirt and mud nd get thrown in the truck bed all day with no issues. Also Milwaukke has a crate as well.
Bauer is holding up fine for me. Daily use. I just cannot justify the price for Milwaukee stuff
@@knoxhomeinspections outstanding have you done an update video? Love to see how you use it and what you put it through on an everyday basis.
I haven’t yet. But I will work on that. I’m working on another video (3 hours) for state continuing education credits. So it may be a while.
Could have got the entire Hart stack for 100 bucks, but already have a craftsman slide stack with wheels and handle.
Hart is cheaper and better. And I am a Harbor freight fan. I have most of the Bauer and Hercules tools but I don't want the box. I got the clear top box with bins for like 21 bucks, went back and got a 2nd one.
Yo buddy that large box was supposed to come with one of those trays like the big one did
Which one?
@@knoxhomeinspections the second box you were talking about? The rolling box comes with a tray and the $89.99 large box comes with the same tray.
Good to know.
I was looking forward to buying the Bauer toolboxes, but after checking them out in person, I couldn’t believe how bad they were. Every single box was warped to the point that the latches wouldn’t close. The wheels were very flimsy and I couldn’t actually get them to connect together. I went with the Ryobi link system instead. Best of both quality and price.
Ryobi is good too
Had the same issue today with getting them to close.
The Milwaukee for the win.
Never
Lmaooo this fool gives points to bauer over Milwaukee for sideways cabinet drawer calling Milwaukees”just a big tray” lol
Thanks!
just look how thin the plastic is compared to the milwaukee. massive difference in qaulity yet the point system goes to the one with the poorest quality. makes zero sense.
Thank you!
No hate on him because I like the bauer boxes too but he's clearly leaning towards the bauer boxes lol
For sure. I love these boxes
If you broke Bauer is best
You compare that to the Ridgid tool box 📦 lol 😂
They're all paying for the brand. Treat your stuff nice and don't throw your boxes around like a maniac. The plastic is the same as my DeWalt tool case 18 in wide tower system. That has lasted 7 years. Milwaukee do things good, and then they upcharge on the unnecessary stuff. Not only packout, but another example is the 120$ M12 temp gun they sell. I have m12 tools, but I'm not paying that for what you can buy in mass for $20 powered by double a batteries.
The plastic is certainly not top tier quality and I would be careful in cold climates. However I think it's going to last 15 years like my DeWalt case is on track for.
This doesn’t com close to milwaukee
Stay safe
I was at harbor freight yesterday and I checked out the bauer and it's pretty good I was surprised by the quality.
It’s holding up fine for me. Can’t beat the price for what you get it’s pretty good
@@knoxhomeinspections yeah a lot of guys get hung up on name and brand more than anything. I picked up the hart stack system, with another large box with another battery cheaper than 1 Milwaukee stack system.
Nice. Very true. I do prefer some brands over others but at the end of the day what’s the difference? Not much.
@@knoxhomeinspections especially hand tools. Lifetime guarantee is all I need.
@@pat2430 how do you like the hart stack?? Ive got about 5 boxes so far ok but the plastic is kinda thin even compared to Bauer
Hahahaha! apples and oranges. Like comparing a Ford F150xl to a Ford 450xlt. They are both created on the same design platform, Mobile storage unit(s). First, weight capacity? Second, light duty, medium duty, heavy duty? Third, quality! Forth, cost effectiveness. Fifth, accessories? Etc. Homeowner, tradesman, contractor ( what profession), industrial. Example rc car hobbyist or plumbing contractor. Electrician or computer repair. Milwaukee Packout or Flex Stack Pack or Craftsman Tradestack or Craftsman Verstastack to Husky and Hart. H M L. Load capacity. Size. Outdoor to Indoor. I'm a plumbing contractor. I do residential service, smaller, medium to light duty, and clean wheels. New construction, heavy duty, higher load capacity, industrial wheels, all sizes. Technical repairs and inspections light duty, more small parts (bins) and hand tools. Commercial tools and accessories, industrial dolly cart customizable. Grainger, etc. Like comparing black and decker to Hilti. Both have a purpose. Just like metal(s) and plastic(s). Milwaukee 250 lbs load capacity wheeled storage box. 60 lbs load capacity Bauer wheel storage box. Hammer and chisel to a Bosch jack hammer! Lol they both work. DeWalt tough 2.0 great for price and a solid medium duty and accessories ( Home Depot). Craftsman for light duty (quality) and warranty (paper). Rigid for light to medium (quality). Husky for homeowner or light tradesman. Box stores selection. Plastic, rubber, and steel bearing wheels choice? Replacement parts? for repairs.
Wow.
In 3 weeks you will be at harbor freight with cracked boxes and 1 wheel
Not yet.
Nah
Don't fill your ego harbor freight tools for the price are unbeatable
Yes sir! Can’t beat it.
You can pick up the milwaukee from the side as well 😂
I think the point they were trying to make was that you can lift it from the same area as you unattach them. Every half second counts i guess 😅
U are comparing the wrong 😑 box’s to each other lol 😂
You're not canoeing " like" boxes
For sure
Do you work Harbor Freight LOL
No but I’m a frequent flyer there
Are they interchangeable like can I put a Bauer box on a miluwakee rolling box
?
No of course not. Why would anyone assume that?
Milwaukee all the way lol 😂 but what works for you is most important 👍🏽
Milwaukee fan boys will be butthert over the results. : (
So many Milwaukee fanboys butthurt in the comments.
I love it!
You get what you pay for. I work in cold weather. That bauer case would shatter into a million pieces after a year, guaranteed.
A million? Really?
OMG what is this!? 😂
Stay safe
You too brother
