Never delete these man, it's up to people like you to keep this music alive... Great work man it's great to see I'm not the only one who idolizes the Dominos.
Zack Tallman Thank you Zack. Your comment got me thinking that I should really post some more covers to keep them all alive! And you... never stop commenting on my videos. It's up to people like you to keep me doing what I do!
I first heard this song at 13 years old (1973) and it sealed my fate as a guitarist. I still get chills when EC comes in after Allmans solo.Great, great job young man. You freaking rocked it.
***** While there is always good music, I agree with you 100%; that period of time was a treasure of amazing music and remains my favorite. We were so lucky to have a couple of amazing (terrestrial) radio stations out of NYC; They played nearly every style of music and I listened to them (guitar in hand) like most teens watch TV Another big moment happened about two years later when I heard Beck's Blow by Blow; I damn near gave up the guitar at that point.
That was excellent work, young man. Love your passion. Very inspiring to see your love of the great Derek and the Dominos. Impressive playing, hitting every note with superb timing and phrasing.
haha, commenting one more time! I just want to say one more time, that you did great job ! Love your attitude ! That the most important thing ! Keep on rocking!
Mark G Hello Mark, thank you so much. I'm glad that you dig my videos. Frankly, I do not plan to make any lessons. That's why I keep an eye on quality of my covers and by the way... I hate guitar lessons :D
hey Colin!! looks like u r well versed with electric guitar!! its amazing to watch you playing brother..i too am a singer here in india...but now i m fascinated with western music and all the artists over there such as bryan adams, enrique, celine, brian mcknight friddie king and of course eric clapton...now i sing their songs in gigs..bro can you please teach how to play to really love a woman by bryan adams...it is my favourite song !!!thanks for this video btw!! :-)
Thank you so much man! I'm glad you like my humble videos! You can find a lot of chords sheets and tabs to Adams' songs. I'm more into blues rock playing. Learn it and send me a link to your cover. Maybe someday, who knows :)
David Strappazon: To figure out and learn only one Eric Clapton's lick i need approximately 5 minutes. Some licks are so easy that I can play them right after hearing it. It takes more time to remember them all in one song. I need to play the song over and over untill I'm sure I know how and when to play everything. Usually I can play any Clapton's song after one day.
Thanks for this and I will tell you why? I have the HAL LEONARD RECORDED VERSIONS WITH NOTES AND TAB, ERIC CLAPTON CROSSROADS VOL 1 (the set of 4 with Ron Wood's sketch of Eric in B&W on the cover) and on page 75 the opening solo is written out. Now I can read tab and notes, but the notes written out just don't match the recorded version by Derek & The Dominoes studio version. Have you ever read it? Eric only recorded it once on a label and the Layla album was that album. So I just gave up until I saw the fingering and notes of this video. Matches near perfectly. Well, there is correction in the Universe, I guess. Thx
Colin Stachowski Update- Actually, Colin it was my error. The transcript in the Crossroads Vol. 1 Music Book was spot on, as I lined it up with the matching (1 of 4) volume CD and read the recording date. The transcription was from the early John Mayall/Bluesbreakers live track (with short-term Jack Bruce on bass) in 1966. Not the 1970 famous Layla studio album recording. Which you have broken down, so effectively with your fine playing. I guess I got overly excited for a Clapton scholar such as myself, since 1963. Ginger and Jack played the Flamingo Club in London as early as 1963 as jazzers. Some may cite Crossroads as one of Eric’s finest playing examples but I would cite the solos in this Dominoes (Billy Miles cover) right up there with his best. The execution and articulation of the phrasing with these killer licks are so precise. The touch, the speed- laying back on the beat, the attack, the velocity of notes- everything, is so powerful and near perfect and thanks to your great camera angles we can see how he hit it, all over the neck. Once again, thank you.
It's amazing how you can play this almost in unison, note for note. This goes beyond technique - you certainly put on the hours. One question: do you record several takes with the camera in different angles and then patch them together? If that's so then you are a very good video editor, too. Cheers!
This is incredible dude. Im the biggest Eric Clapton fan. Compared to you i still have a very long way to go on guitar. Can i ask what the secret is to learning by ear? I am going to do my best to pick off the notes from your videos. Thanks heaps man. You'll be seeing more of my comments soon😂
Thanks a lot Chaz! Keep your comments coming, I appreciate it! Regarding learning by year, here are some tips that works for me: 1. Clapton only plays in pentatonic/blues-pentatonic scale - once you figure out the song key, you can be sure the licks are somewhere within the scale. 2. Clapton playing is very economical - if a lick you think he plays requires you to do some crazy finger streaches, tapping, very strange chord etc. then it's not how he played. 3. Try to record your part over the original track - if the sound you hear is very messy, then your transcription or phrase is not 100% accurate. You should almost be able to hide the original track with your lick on top of it. In other words... you should be able to cover it :) 4. If you hear him bending a string and then he adds an even higher note on top of that in unison, then for sure he's not bending the high E string - you should try to play that lick on your B string. Hope that helps!
I suggest solo to 'She's Waiting' and 'Forever Man' for the start (note 'Forever Man' is played whole step down but you don't need to detune your guitar just for the solo).@@chazbat6417
I think your playing is just fine , but (as I’ve played along with some songs on this album before, myself) to “sync” to the pitch of the record , you gotta tune up just a “hair” above 440 standard- it’ll sound way more balanced JMO
if you heard a delay it s because there "is" a delay between his notes and clapton' notes ... lol the hardest thing is to respect the tempo that clapton use in his guitar solos in order to be in synchronicity with him and not to have this delay ..you can just practice over and over again in order to approach the most his tempo and to make too much delays... which is very hard to do.. almost impossible for the simple reason that clapton plays with his heart and the emotions go from the heart to the fingers..and that can't be mentioned in the tabs :-) ... i ve been in many clapton s tributes cause he s my best guitar player... and everything is fine .... but the tempo that s missing eachtime :-) but the guy is doing very great in all his videos and covers. respect !
it s easy to reproduce a guitar tabs.. needs only practice ... the most difficult is to follow the tempo that clapton respected .. not to be permenantly in gap with that delay of fractions of seconds between your notes and his notes :-)
Great playing, watch Eric to see good phrasing. Not always how many notes you can fit in, depends on the song, this one is slow and soulful so many of the licks should reflect this, THEN rip some fast ones. Keep it up, awesome talent, Dude.

Thank you so much, Sir! I can only wonder how a young boy can feel hearing this (very new then) song in 1973. 70's are great years for music!

Great song. Great note for note version of the song. When you hear the guitars in unison like that, it-s better than the original..
Thanks!
Can you go over what youre using to get your tone? pedals and amp setting and such. very nice playing brother
All digital from my laptop. Amplitube 3 + Fender addon of '57 Champ.
Lots of mids?
Mighty fine young man!
Thanks Johnny!
oh man.. that´s fantastic! It will probably be in the key of C, right?
Rudolf Manďák Thank you Rudolf. Yes, it's in the key of C.

What amp/pedal are you using? Your tone is surreal - so close to Clapton's!

Hey, how do you have your camera and mic set up?
Great.
What pedals are u using
None!
RIP Duane Allman
He was The Player!
you got a tab for this ?
No tabs, sorry!
Hey man do you have tabs for this? I would love to have them if you do
Not to this one unfortunately.
The tab is in the excellent Tab book called ‘Eric Clapton - The Bluesman’ by Andy Aledort.

why there is a delay or echo with your solo?
There is no delay or echo on my solo. It's the original track and I will take it as a complement!
Amazing! yes you can take it as a complement you play exactly like Clapton so I thought you're playing with a backing track!
