The studio version actually has a guitar rhythm track, and 2 guitar lead tracks, not easy at all,Eric and Duane together were phenomenal...my hats off to you both
Glad you mentioned that the lead was Duane's. That Joy To The World riff, that's all Duane, it was his signature move. Some of the most evocative music ever made, when done right, it can almost make you weep. You guys did an a remarkable job...
Great job! Great tune! Reading Clapton's autobiography right now and it blows my mind how he could not only play but create this stuff in the state he was in.
Guys what can I say that's not been said. This is simply magnificent and you show so much mastery of your instruments. Please post up some more dominoes covers.
Nice touch having the Layla album in the background. Excellent job on the playing. I know that song by heart from listening to it for these decades, and that was very accurate. You could sit in with Tedeschi Trucks when they cover this.
Wow, I love Eric Clapton and Derek and The Dominos, but is a pity them have only one álbum :( But anyway.... Good work! I'm learning guitar for I can honor some guitar heroes and watching your cover vídeos inspired me.
Nani, It can be said that they produced more than 1 álbum ...there was stuff for a second to be released just before ThE moment they "came to blows"...you can find It in YT.....And ThE double live AT fillmore..
Great job, IMO ! I don;t know if Duane played on the original or not, but that solo around 2:40 was very reminiscent of Duane's style, in fact a lot of it sounds directly borrowed from Blue Sky.
I am an old guy and have been playing for 40 plus years... nice to see some you guys tackling Clapton and Allman instead of shredding (I do like shredding too)... Excellent! How did you both get your tones? were you playing through amps?
MarshallAmp Man Hello! I also like to shread but to a degree. Nothing is better than a good 70's blues-guitar work. I got my tone from Amplitube 3 (Fender Champ addon) and Temy recorded it on his Mac or real Fender champ. Can't remember...
Yes, I saw that. I also do covers btw, albeit with a different concept: After starting all alone two years ago (as almost beginner), I finally managed to find three people from three different countries who occasionally come together to play full covers of rock / hard rock songs. We do versions in our own way, whilst I got the impression that you guys tried to stick to the original, am I right?
I know this video is quite old now but I was just showing a friend how you guys covered this and he brought up an interesting question... Why did you not cover claptons lead parts as well?
Zack Tallman Hello Zack, thank you for checking out my older covers! Initially I wanted to cover Clapton's part but later abandoned this idea because as it might have got too messy with all these tracks.
As Temy explained me one day: Assistant recording engineer Karl Richardson recalled that a couple of women came in and were hanging out in the control room and one of them spilled coffee on the master tapes, after which he and producer Tom Dowd had to pass the master tape back and forth through the reels to get the coffee spills out. Reportedly, an improperly working tape player caused some songs to have altered tempos. We've recorded everything in standard tuning (which sounded really bad and out of tune) and than I had to adjust the pitch of our tracks in Audacity to mach the original recording.
Thank you! No, I'm not. I have my guitar plugged into UX1 soundcard with Amplitude Fender. It's all about how much you crank that Fender Champ amp. Mind that here I play only ryhtm. Temy's using a real amp.
Juliano Pohlmann I'll post cover of 'Thorn Tree in the Garden' (to close my project with Layla album) and than start with 'Slunky' from 1970 Clapton's album.
@@ColinStachowski Could be. Based on everything I've seen and read about the song, "Keep Playing" seems more probable and now I can't hear it an other way. Lol
is this slightly sped up or tuned a bit above standard because im playing along and in tune and im off and i know they sped up the original in the studio so was just curious
And they are in tune with the original so they either tuned up slightly and replicated the original tuning with the pitch chance or slightly sped it up to change the pitch like Tom Dowd did I was just curious which one they did

It was great, but try playing A maj7 and D maj7 instead of just regular A and D major. Thats how its played on the record and live, it just gives it a jazzier feel for the solo at the end.

this is awesome, not an easy one to cover
All glory's on Temy!
I love the "joy to the world" tease riff near the end of the song! Classic Duane move!
Thanks! Never noticed that. Good to know!

Thank you! All credits goes to Temy. He's the one that shines here, hah!
My favorite band of all times ! I was lucky to see them twice live, at the Fillmore & Capitol ! You guys nailed it !!!
Lucky you! Thanks!
how much I envy you 😂... lucky you. great
Great job! Great tune! Reading Clapton's autobiography right now and it blows my mind how he could not only play but create this stuff in the state he was in.
Thanks! I think that state he was in helped him with the material, hah!
Duane Allman played the solo on that song.
This song is 90% duane allman
Wonderful ........ gibson .... fender ....... I really like your work. Congratulations.
Thanks!
Ass kickin guys. Really nice to see this young generation carrying the torch of the guitar gods before them. Keep on it man!
Dominic Dimele Thank you Dominic. That music is too good to be forgotten!
Extremely well done, young men. Hats off to you
Nice work again!! And Temy Swinford has killed in the solos!

one of most passionate guitar works of Eric. Excellent cover !

In the chorus, both chords are Maj 7s. Also there's a C chord before the E. Thanks for posting.

The kid doing the leads is great. Mr allman played that on the original recording
Treva Bondarenko Both are excellent! Great playing.
I agree, he's great!
Thanks!
very good on the right track flow eric
Thanks!
Brilliant cover! I'm sure you know it's a Dmaj7 after the Amaj7...sounds like you are playing a straight Dmaj ?
Can't relate to this now... sorry. But I'm sure you're right. I will re-record it one day.

How was your teacher able to replicate Duane's tone? Like what settings on the guitar and amp did he use?
awesome lead guitar
Andres Molina Temy is a guitar master!

YES!
Very much the same as the record. Even the tuning is not quite standard. It's either slightly up or down from standard 440. Can you explain?
As Temy explained me one day: Assistant recording engineer Karl Richardson recalled that a couple of women came in and were hanging out in the control room and one of them spilled coffee on the master tapes, after which he and producer Tom Dowd had to pass the master tape back and forth through the reels to get the coffee spills out. We've recorded everything in standard tuning (which sounded really bad and out of tune) and than I had to adjust the pitch of our tracks in Audacity to mach the original recording.
The song book for this album has this song tuned down half a step.the rhythm guitar.
As far as I know, the whole album is played half a tone higher(at least Layla and this song is played half a tone higher)
your videos are amazing maaannn....are you using any pedals in your covers of derek????

great....i'll keep watching and learning
Bingo! Great job ;)
Thank you! :)
There's a C chord between the F and the E in the Verse.
I appreciate your comment, thanks.
If you listen closely on the original, just before the solo, you can hear Bobby Whitlock yell "keep playing!"
Interesting. I've just had a listen and although it sounds more like 'keep playing' I also hear 'take it Duaaaane'.

what is your tuning on les paul
Standard.

you guys got good job make eric proud how bout live version
Thank you. Maybe in the future... who knows ;)
is this slightly sped up or tuned a bit above standard because im playing along and in tune and im off and i know they sped up the original in the studio so was just curious
Where you have heard this was sped up? I haven't see no oficial source to confirm it..
Gabriel the studio version is slightly sped up that’s according to Tom Dowd the producer which changes the pitch just like on Layla
And they are in tune with the original so they either tuned up slightly and replicated the original tuning with the pitch chance or slightly sped it up to change the pitch like Tom Dowd did I was just curious which one they did
@@jokkergar here found this from one of the comments: As Temy explained me one day: Assistant recording engineer Karl Richardson recalled that a couple of women came in and were hanging out in the control room and one of them spilled coffee on the master tapes, after which he and producer Tom Dowd had to pass the master tape back and forth through the reels to get the coffee spills out. Good joib but I think you go to a C chord between the F and E chords so it would be Am G Am G F C E.. Also in the chorus it is Amaj7 and Dmaj7 chords.

lead guitar tab???
We don't have that one, sorry.
Colin Stachowski would you consider making it?
Unfortunately I did niot plan this so no, sorry!
Your really good! :)
+alessandra y I'm glad you like it!
need the backing track
We have played it over the original track.
Even more impressive given that Tom Dowd speeded up the track a bit.
And that made it difficult to find a proper pitch for our guitars. Glad you like it!
From what I've read, Dowd did not speed it up...
Are you just playing an A Major and G Major Barre chord?
For some part of the verse, yes.
why didn't u do twin solo with him?? I'm upset
I’m sory, hah! I did not want to make it too messy. But I’ll re-record it one day with all solos included.
@@ColinStachowski lol and how come u never covered blind faith, cream, bluesbreakers? don't have the gears?
Exactly. I don’t have an era-correct gear unfortunately. If I should do it, it must be correctly. Maybe in couple of years...
It was great, but try playing A maj7 and D maj7 instead of just regular A and D major. Thats how its played on the record and live, it just gives it a jazzier feel for the solo at the end.

you guys should have played at the crossroads 2013 and not quinn sullivan
Haha, great idea, man!
wtf do you have against quinn?

The first solo is a fucking nigthmare
Sure thing. Temy pulls it off like a pro!
