Definitely an Olympic event, but the only problem is that it would get too political. If the winning "purse" was too much, it would become too commercial (which happened in the 80s/90s). I'm a native NEW YORKER born & raised in the early 70's. I've seen this battle video a couple of times & just shake my head. This CREW was no way SKILLED enough to battle ROCKSTEADY. They looked sloppy in their appearance & the way they danced. ROCKSTEADY on the other hand came out out with no FEAR & were NOT second guessing their moves.
I started bboying in 1982 in the Uk & carried on for 34 years, & I'm shaking my head at your comments. AT 19:20 Both crews are paying tribute to the late Rock Steady breaker, Swift.. His bottom rocks are legendary. For those of you who don't know, watch the movie, "Beat Street", - the Roxy battle scene.
Back when I used to break for the Nasty Rockers crew (Broward, FL), i had the fastest windmills in the country - as fast as Rock Steady Crew's Kuriaki. That used to be good enough. But Breaking as evolved so much since the 80's, it is so more choreography and acrobatics.
57:20 my man does a CLASSIC TRIBUTE TO KEN CRAZY LEGS - the back spin-take-off-kick move that Crazy Legs performed on the set of the movie Beat Street.
I think that's not Legs. He does the elbow swipes in this battle. But there where more people doing this before lamine. Think storm also use to do it. Still a nice move
@@papabreak5979 You're right, that's not Legs. I don't think I've ever seen Storm do that which doesn't mean he didn't, I have only seen a limited amount of vintage Battle Squad footage.

The name may have changed fr 1 crew, but if my eyes arent deceiving me "The Breaks" looks like NYC Breakers style of dance, while Rock Steady looks like Rock Steady.. That crew has remained Steady!
As a b boy from the Midwest this new rock steady crew lost this battle. The breaks crew came with fire and energy 2x that of rock steady crew. If I were crazy legs I would recruit 2 of those guys from breaks they were amazing and natural. They reminded me of the original rock steady crew.
Wish I were there to help for my boys from Steady. Back in the day I would’ve lit those fools up with an Aerial assault that they’ve never seen before straight out of the West Coast. Blaze Master of fluent aerial Attacks
When RSC expanded they brought in members from other crews to represent kinda like MZK does now. T Rock, Lil Rock, and Johnny B Goode were all down with RSC but also in their own respective crews.
RSC lost this one! The Breaks Crew had younger more agile dudes with big power moves. RSC doesn't look like the original crew. If they would have brought in some electro boogaloo popping top work they may have won! Great vid overall.
