    ITG is considered one of the greatest dance songs for a reason. Plus it's also Madonna's first No. 1 U.K. single!

    I've been trying to work out the parts myself for the last couple of days, so this was quite helpful. It's also quite impressively similar to the original, as even if you have the right synths, dialling in the sounds "perfectly" is difficult, and it's easy to end up with an "uncanny valley" version that sounds not quite right... and it's sometimes impossible trying to work out why! (Perfectionism is a curse).

    Overall great job but the bass line in the chorus isn't quite right. The incorrect part is in what would be the third measure of the chorus, around :21 in the video. Nitpicky, but since you went to a lot of trouble I'm really surprised you missed it.

    • @NoChrReq
      @NoChrReq Год назад +1

      Yes! Why in almost every video in RUclips they leave out these extra C notes? This is probably the 4th video I saw that does the same thing. It's not even a hard-to-notice thing, it's in-yo-face and leaving them out kills the groove and leaves me with a very unsatisfied feeling.

      I’m not sure what it is missing! Does this one get it right? ruclips.net/video/Pa739vWzCxM/видео.htmlsi=wLOfO1-ZAPtfvOcv

      @@biggerbyfar1 Yes, that version seems to have it right. Although bar 3 of the chorus bassline uses the same notes as bar 1, it has a different, busier, rhythm, which is more like the one in bar 4. If you wanted to input bar three into a step sequencer in 16ths, the notes go on the 1-3-5-6-8-9-10-11-12-13-15-16. (With every note a C apart from the D and Eb at the end). Confusingly the first bar has the D and Eb earlier on the 14 and 15 and no notes at positions 10 and 12. It actually took me quite a while to work out bar 3, as I'd always presumed it was the same as bar 1, or at least had the hook in the same place. When you're so used to playing the first bit, the correct pattern for bar 3 sounds "wrong" at first!

      @@AutPen38thanks for the details! Have you found any version on YT that is correct?

    • @AutPen38
      @AutPen38 Месяц назад

      @@biggerbyfar1 I haven't done a great deal of searching (yet), but I think the one you linked to is probably as close as anyone will get with regard to a total reconstruction. A lot of time must have gone into studying the original master tracks to make that version. It's certainly more accurate than some of the MIDI files floating around the internet, although to be fair most of those were probably made two decades before multitracks, AI stem-splitters, and audio-to-midi plugins were available to help us. It can be really hard to discern the notes in a bassline from listening to the finished version. (See also: the huge number of amateur guitar tabs online that don't even have the right chords, let alone the correct notes!)

    The DeepMind bassline sounds … not good. You would be better off using software if you don’t have something in your arsenal to recreate the Juno/Jupiter sound.

    • @benanderson89
      @benanderson89  11 месяцев назад +1

      I previously owned a Juno 6 and 106. The DM12 sounds absolutely fine. What processing they used on the signal chain is a completely different matter and completely unknown. The original was a Super Jupiter rack.

    • @AutPen38
      @AutPen38 Месяц назад

      I've been fiddling with Juno emulations and Diva for a couple of days and I think the DeepMind sounds pretty close to the Super-Jupiter bass, but there's a missing ingredient. I think the original also layered the basic DX7 Bass 1 preset over the Super-Jupiter. When it's isolated, the bassline from the song sounds almost like a real bass guitar in places, and I think you need to use the DX7 (with heavy EQ) to create some extra bite, as the Juno/Jupiter/Deepmind chorus makes it a bit too wishy-washy otherwise.
