Crazy engine. I wish they still made things like this. We have V12 petrol engines why not V12 diesel too. Wish Mercedes did this. V12 and V8 diesel. Now only inline 6 diesel.
Ok , you can change the oil-filter and the different liquids with the engine still in its place. Is there something else you can repair or change perifericals on that engine without pulling it out first?
What a nightmare to service. Owners of this car should be prepared for some juicy repair bills. Chain at the back? Whoever thought that was a good idea.
Dude guy, W12 is a W configured two v engines melted into each other. You have two rows of 3 cylinders on each side. Do to the torque and force in a diesel engine they CAN NEVER BE A "W" configuration. The two big diesel motors are the TDI V10 and this engine, the TDI "turbocharged direct injection" is the Volkswagen audi group name for the diesels. There is only one w12 engine it runs on gasoline only. In the beautiful VW Phaeton, Audi A8 D2, D3, and in the "L" model only for the A8L-D4, All of the Bentley's Conti, Spur, Mulsanne. As of 2019 Audi will no longer offer the 12 Cylinder gasoline/ petrol W12. If you want to see what an actual W12 is watch Bentley W12 how its made on RUclips. This is an excellent video about the "V12" TDI Most TDI are called R like R3, 4, 5, R10 and R15 for the V10 and V12 TDI Diesel engines
Very good Comment, the only think I would like to mention is the fully written TDI. Which means "Turbodiesel with Directinjection and Intercooler". The early Models known as "TD" had no Intercooler. Greetings from Austria
Eu só quero o motor v12 tdi e uma transmissão manual de 7 marchas e tração nas quatro rodas pra colocá na minha picape favorita chevy ssr manual v8 ano 2006
the single douplex drive chain is a bad idea . its at the back of the engine so a nightmare to do also a big bill to do it and would wear out quicker with that power i thought that camshafts and drive train was old school now using electric control valve systems being a lighter engine and less parts to wear and being smaller .so more reliable . or is that system for only petrol engines ? so to change a fuel pump you have to take the engine out . i think we are going backwards , why do you need a v 12 also the governments are telling us to buy petrol engine cars or they are taxing us high for having a diesel engine cars.
The title and text is incorrect. The 6.0 TDi engine is a V12. The W12 6.0 is a petrol engine and has no connection at all with the 6.0 TDi.
Must admit, Wolfgang Matthes is a GEEZA.I love these vids thank you for this upload.

Awesome technology!

Not really...;-)
chain gliders are on the back of the the engine, so...
@@TINRFD life time 😉😶
What transmission is in this? 737 ft lbs. WOW
Remove emission parts, install single scania turbo and remap software.

Yeah that's why the Passat W8 is cheap in the US now. Have to take the engine out to do just about anything to it.
I know a hell of a lot of American cars in the same boat I wouldn't touch

When german said lifetime, what they actually mean is 5-years and within warranty. After that, gud luck.

It's too complex. Tesla electric motor is better. LOL
