Disappointing, well produced, good acting, but I did not like the changes from the comics. Should have landed with a punch, instead it was a drawn out whimper.
No code, it was a good first season but then again I've not read or heard anything about this show or the comics. Hope for a second season.
I think the six touching the wall and it not lighting up every time Walt joined in should have been a sign he should not be trusted.

they supposed to work together utopian is naive Walter and goerge are supposed to balance that out...if they worked together.
I watched the first episode and that was it. The fact that Utopian was literally mad at his son for killing that dude when every single one of them was getting their ass handed to them. His son had just watched his friends get melted and he did what he thought was right and it WAS the right thing to do. Even Cpt America, a morally rich character, knows at times that you have to take some folks out for the greater good.
I agree with everything you said and I still think you should watch the rest of the series. Cause it is about questioning things, including the code.
it's the superman, batman, DC's crap you get from such righteous people like that. not killing is doing more wrong than good. like putting the joker in Arkham again and again just for him to escape and kill hundreds of people each time.

It's only the very beginning. Which for me worked great as it offered great world building.

I always loved George and Sheldon's relationship. They seem more like brothers.
Sheldon might seem like an idealistic asshole but I think THE CODE was given to him when he got his powers. His passion about the code is really deep.

I always wonder if the code can be bended in a way that only extremely powerful opponents needs to be absolutely killed and taken out of the equation.
There were times even the Justice League had to resort to extreme methods so did the Avengers
@@superheroprotagonist Super heros need their own laws, and killing a supervillain when self or other superhero's lives are threatened should be judged as self defence. Just like common people laws. And super heros should not kill villains who has no power to harm them, that'll be enough.
@Winter Green The problem of the code is not that it's wrong, but it's not flexible and too simple, it doesn't consider a lot of scenarios. Like the police can shoot suspects when they feel their lives are threatened, super heros basically are like cops with powers, they should have the right to kill or mortally injure the suspects who has powers to harm them.

@@eccentricaste3232 Utopian can only have things his way or the highway. He makes no room for compromise or any exceptions. Holding not only himself but *everyone* accountable to a flawed code he created in the 1930’s. Even when the choice is one where there can be no good result he will still lambast you for making the choice, (its what he did with Brandon). In the comics his reasonings are more flushed out as there are waaay more super individuals than in the Netflix adaptation. The union has hundreds of “heroes” who want to do more than they are allowed to in an attempt to save society. More often than not by way of flexing their powers to have their way regardless of the consequences. So he keeps them bound by the “code” using his position as the most powerful of them to enforce it. His personality and beliefs is so complex and flawed that he can only maintain a fragile status quo.
George is the best he followed sheldon since the start a true best friend, then walter did that thing with sally... i was so fking angry and then walter did that thing to him...
Other people having powers that aren’t related to them was my biggest problem because if the island did wash over everybody and give other people powers than why was the union chosen if other random people got them to.
I think like aliens powered the island’s secrets and then that opened up possibilities for others to get powers also and some of these characters powers could be like accidents like you know falling in a tub or radioactive waste
maybe it will be addressed in season 2
They were chosen in since to have a full total of the power given to them. Meaning the scale on which they received it to others was not only greater but sooner. It not only took other individuals powers a bit of time to manifest but the level of power wasn't that great... This placed the chosen in the front as the strongest which is proven through the creation of the Union, and off spring.
Maybe the source knew the 6 chosen might not be fail for responsibility so they made back up by giving those other who will reach the power blessings. U know just saying ^_^
Remember the scene they got Their powers, a wave also blew over the men on the ship including the captain of the ship, markings showed on Thier faces as the wave blew past them, my theory is they also got powers, gave birth to super powered children too
Show was better than expected, and sets up for Season 2
You know, for some videos I find kinda weird to end with "Daddy loves you very much"... but here... well, Sheldon + Brandon/Chloe or Brainwave + Raikou. Perfectly fit.
I think Netflix has pumped to much money into MillarWorld for them not to do a season 2.

I really liked this show a lot! It had a lot of great drama and action. It felt like X-Men, crossed with Indiana Jones. It was a lot of fun!
Raikou only pretended to blackmail Walt. She knows that Walt knows that she has seen through Walt's treachery but she can't take him one on one.
Yeah she was gonna warn the Union anyway even if somehow he gave her the money (which he would never do), but he knew this, and being the pure evil monster he is, decided to kill her in cold blood.
I think SkyFox will be the true hero of the story
in the end he turned out to be Flash of Justice League, whose light hearted chill mind saved the world ;)
haven't read the comics but from what we saw with Walt cunning everybody, who's to say he didn't mind control SkyFox and set him up as the fake bad guy.

12:31 this is exactly what I'm talking to my friend about when I started suspecting Walt to be someone who will turn on them. Then when the show progresses, my suspicions about him grew although I agree with his convictions for the most part but at the same time, there's something sinister about him that made me so restless. I unexpectedly love this show!

Yeah, I love how they show that the whole “greater good” and “world peace” talk is just BS. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself. He just loves forcing his will upon other people because he can. He has a god complex and is a truly heinous and amazing villain. His power is terrifying because he can kill anyone easily except his brother. Even Skyfox, because knowing how to use his tech implies that he’s been in his mind. I also think he’s too afraid to come anywhere near America at risk Walter might find him and finish him off. “Georgie” was the only person other than Raikou to see him for the snake he was, and she was silenced. It would be cool to see the real villain abuse and kill the framed one. It will be truly sinister and chilling to watch.
The real question is why does "Hutch" Hutchence (George's son) have Richard Conrad / Blue Bolt's power rod?

5:12 because of the shockwave that passes, once the six get their powers. The crew on the boat get the strongest wave, the rest of the world gets less and less and the wave envelopes the planet. It's a checks and balance to the six.
This show was so underrated. That ending still lives rent-free in my head. Brainwave is the goat!

I wish they would of ended the last episode with the big cliffhanger like how they did in the comics would of set of season 2 better . But I think season 2 is where this series going to pick up steam.

tv series adapted only like first issue. For me it worked better, as it offered nice world building.
When comic was a bit rushed.
This is really better than the comic so far.
They spread the origin flashbacks out over all 8 episodes and have been going into greater detail with a lot of main and side characters.
I assumed they would end the season with the hero uprising, death of the family and time jump into the new future but that likely won't happen till the end of next season (it's funny how all that happens by only the third and fourth issues in the comics).
I really hope we get a second, third and fourth season.

I thought he'd be the villain after the first episode. But by the end of the series I wouldn't have ever guessed it

They should've atleast done a Season 2 too if anything would've changed. It's actually wild that everyone actually agrees that the flashback were way more interesting, They should had a full or half season dedicated to just the origins, Then went on with the story of Walt turning heel along with Paragon killin his dad
I honestly believe if they gave it a chance Jupiter's Legacy could've became a classic netflix show like Stranger things
the fight between George and Walt was epic it gave me chills
I'm guessing that this season was really a setup world building season to allow people with no knowledge of the comic to be eased in. Whilst this is a good idea if the first season is strong it would appear that there is enough variation from the source material to annoy its fans.
The problem for me was that the reveal of the big bad was inconsistent with information we were given that only the viewer and the big bad would know so effectively he was acting for the viewer and himself.....
They've literally been building towards that reveal the whole season. What show did you watch?
@@coachtali5151 I know that but they created a scene in the first episode which misleads only the viewer which is really bad storytelling.
I actually agree, the keep hinting towards Walt forgiving his brother all season and then suddenly start hinting the opposite in the final episode with the sudden reveal that he's the bad guy. I never read the comics and so i didn't know. I also thought this was poorly revealed.
@@wiseavatar3996 Who wants to know the villain the whole time? That's not poorly written. The same as Walk is misleading everyone, the writer is trying to mislead the viewer. I would call that engaging. Why does the viewer always have to be in the know?
@@naturalwayfilms Let me be clear. I enjoyed the show and look forward to season 2. I was just disappointed in the methods they used to hide the main villain. The story would have been served better if he became the villain during the season or you were made aware of his plans from the start so you understood his motivations better. Remember this is my personal view and im attempting to understand why this doesn't seem as popular as I had hoped it would be.

Only thing I don't understand is why they showed Skyfox and Walt fighting if all that was just a creation by Walt himself. Was it just to show us, or did he suspect someone like Grace would follow him and 'witness' Skyfox was behind all this?
They said it in this video and Walt can construct a person's perception of reality so why wouldn't we be affected by that?
Remember when they put their hand on the wall? Walter's shit didn't lit up the first time, given that George has his lit when he touched it first. Kind of a foreshadowing that Walter is not to be trusted at all.

When I first watched this I was suspicious about Walt from the Start cause he just gives off that evil old man look and the flashbacks helped me dislike him more

I just finished this show the other day and this makes it seem so much more enjoyable than actually watching it drag on, I’m not saying its a bad show but good lord it knows how to confuse the narrative.
I finished episode 8 and went to watch the next episode... What an awful ending.
Oddly enough, The only good part of this show had zero super powers in it. The flash back story line was wildly more interesting then the CW superhero drama that was the present. What a mess of a show.
I dont understand why this show was hated by a lot of people. Sure, its not like the boys or a marvel movie, but its a pretty good superhero universe. I started watching it expecting a horrible show from comments elsewhere but I was pleasantly surprised. Really hoped it would have ran for at least 2 more seasons to close up all storylines.

mostly because self righteous dicks like Utopian can't see further than the tip of their nose. when you have a super hero like him, doing prayers at dinner and being like "saving people good, killing people bad" he hasn't evolved since the 30's and only sees the world in black and white. that's why he doesn't understand why SkyFox betrayed them and he can't even conceive his brother is paying a double game. for him, he sees Walt helping the heroes, so his brother can only be good and nothing else.
I hope they get a season two.

Strange to make a clone you have to fight with. Either you needed it to be real enough you need to fight it in your special mind palace... or they showed it to us so we don’t expect the betrayal. Which would be silly.
I’ve never read the comic. So just going off the show. Utopian’s kids are definitely whiners. His daughter is the worst. First World spoiled, never had to struggle physically or financially. They both mad sad that their Dad had to work.
I agree about fighting the clone. After watching the finale it made no sense. It felt like they made him the twist villain just to do it, there were several things that I thought back to going "so wait why'd he do that then if he was this twist villain all along? How does that help his plan at all" like if he cloned blackstar why did he offer to go into his mind with his daughter, or why did he end up fighting skyfox in the clone he created mind? And more and that's just the last episode.

This show was dragged out badly. They behave like the kind of adolescent children as if therapy wasn't available to them. It's not fleshed out very well but at least we got George/Skyfox and his son to a lesser extent
Disagree. Also, there are people with no powers who act like that. Only life stops them. Here, realities of life can't really stop them because they have superpowers. Just because therapy is available don't mean a person would want it.
Sheldon went to therapy and people behave like this everyday powers or not, just different situations

I liked Jupiter ascending. I think it potentially was a good competitor to the invincible series on Amazon. I thought that the back and forth between the present and the past was a little much. I kept saying to myself "just tell us what happened already so we can get back to the story." This was a technique that I first saw in the DC show Arrow, where the past and present were being showed together like to stories in one episode. Hopefully they get another season, I would love to see how this concludes!

The main plot is confusing . Apparently every era a person is shown a vision of the location and 5 other people to bring. ....along with other island images. No instructions. You travel there and walk across a short forest, tiny desert and some cliffs.... This is the great challenge they keep referring to? All this is done in a day. They never make camp. So they don't fight and put hands on magic wall...that opens teleporter gate to another planet or moon. An avatar tell each that their worthy of receiving powers. Problem is it appears that random people all over the world also get superpowers. How else are there superheroes and villains? Are their kids worthy as well....no island test? So basically the six were the key to unleashing superpowers to earth.🤔
After the 6 orignal heros how did the supervillians and all the other people get their powers ?
Just finished it and thought it was great. I could have done without such a long drawn out explanation of how they got their powers, but overall it was good.
I still don't understand how all the bad guys got their powers.....it only explains how the main characters and their kids got powers
When the main 6 got their powers, the golden dust that washed over the island can also be seen engraining some patterns onto the crew still left on board. As they were all different races, we can then infer they spread their seed and some powers back to their homelands
What happens with the doctor?
I hope this gets explained in Season 2. Because he had the item Hutch had and somehow he ends up with it.

You understand how legitimate and illegitimate works right? In the comic it was explain Utopian tried but could have children with his first wife. He later hooks up with his current wife and they do. It could be possible they had children’s out side of relationships. These are just the one they recognized. 🤷♂️

@5:00 Correction: In the comics, Blue Bolt gets the rod. Blue Bolt was Hutch's favourite of the Union so George made another power rod for Hutch.

I don't have any hopes for a season 2. Netflix tends to only make season 1s for many of its shows.
Best way to reveal the twist of your show is to have a character just come in at the very end and say "you are the real villain"......how incredible 😒
I think the show falls in comparison to other superhero genre show/anime.
I hope it gets better as the show continue I really feel like season 1 was just a waste of time.

@4;40 ONE of the reasons it is called Jupiter's Legacy is that powers came from a moon of Jupiter.
I'll be honest, I enjoyed the origin story of the team more than the main morden story.... It just reminded me of the Watchmen series and I enjoyed the story in general had some good acting too
This show mention Lovecraft clearly the woman said remind him of this man going crazy so is it canonized with that show
