    Thank you so much! I just bought an '03 4X4 Explorer at auction for my personal use. Everything on it was clean and functional. new tires, clean oil, clean interior, Kenwood stereo, tinted windows (etc.), except it had a massive coolant leak that I couldn't figure out. A quick search found YOU. I checked out what you described and that was the problem! A trip to the parts store, and 30 minutes later, no leak. I'm pretty sure that the obvious leak kept all the bidders away, and I got it for $850!! Thanks again, you made my day!

    Thank you! ! I had replaced my mustang water pump and thought I screwed up the gasket. After hours of trying to pinpoint the leak, I saw the pooling. It is much harder to see in the '06 mustang. My flashlight beam glinted off a pool of green (since the fluid was so new)! Searched 2006 pooling engine block and your video came up first!

    perfect video for our problem. My wife's 2004 Xplor was leaking just like this one. I did exactly as you did, and it went so dang smooth I couldn't believe it. I didn't even have an issue with the 'wire' ...it just slipped right past the 'wire'. So, yeah, one of the most useful and viewable car videos I've seen. So nice to not have to mute obnoxious metal rock or some frantic midnite auto king rattling off bromides like he's on a major dose of meth. THANKS.

    The aluminum version is only $50 on ebay & Amazon w/thermostat included. Some w/temp sensors.

    Thanks for the video for help, I found that that wire is clipped under the spark wires. Undoing the clip gave me more wiggle room.

      Thanks for the comment and the tip. I hope I don't have to do it again, but if I do your tip will make it easier. :)

    Do you recommend doing top freeze plugs while tops open?

      Honestly I can't say either way. I didn't do anything other than what in this video.

    This is a life saver. I love my explorer and thought I had a head gasket leak or something. Oils clean, exhaust is clean, no over heating. Just fluid leak and pooling on the engine block. I thought it was just a small leak somewhere in the radiator since it's a ford ;).

    Hi and thanks for this video. It's right on time. At 4:48-5:12 that area on my 02 Ford Explorer 4.0 has a slight leak. It just started. It's somewhat light brownish color like in this video but not sure if it's oil or coolant mixed with something. Do you know what that area(where the arrow is) is called/what part belongs in that circular area that's filled with coolant? If it's oil where the oil could be coming from? TIA 🤔

    • @Jackleg
      @Jackleg  3 года назад

      Not sure if we are talking about the same area, bit the part I replaced goes on that circle area with the 3 bolts.

      @@Jackleg sorry about that. The circular part at 28-42s that has the fluid in it. Is there a purpose for it? I'm asking because it's leaking/covered on my Explorer as well. Same place.

      @@verinb9 Not sure, I will have to look at mine tomorrow. That's just where it was pooling up on mine. I didn't look to see what part it was. I will check it out tomorrow.

    My engine had sludge on it where ur coolant was pooling is this oil or could it be burnt coolant ? Replaced my lower intake gaskets and thermostat housing is in the mail I'm hoping this solves my issue. Was losing a quart of coolant every drive

    • @Jackleg
      @Jackleg  5 лет назад +1

      It could be coolant mixed with dust and debris that makes the sludge I guess. The plastic housing seems to be a common problem.
