@@kazthecool yeah, don't know how long you've been playing, but Crow was our enemy at one point. We killed him, and he got rezzed as a guardian with no memory of who he was before. He eventually finds out why everyone distrusts him and it of course causes problems.

Must be confusedly combining the Scorn with the Lucent Brood, despite both being enemies of eachother and the Coalition of Sol (Humanity, Eliksnii of House Light and Empress Cital's Cabal Legion/s).

Yeah there are a ton of mistakes and false items in this. Ghosts dont just look for their guardian on earth they are all over the solar system. Crow for example was ressurected in the dreaming city.
No actually eliksni were once lightbeares Then the traveler left them to come to earth. The fight with the new guardians is because of that fact. They had the power and it was taken from them. That’s why you haven’t seen any of them as lightbearers. Follow my name is Byf for the whole break down.

She ain't the oldest guardian, she's the oldest corpse to be revived. Also the only guardians are human-esque ones, so humans (obviously), exos and awoken. On top of that not all lightbearers are guardians, some are rogue. The hive can also be lightbearers, but they're the only other species so far that have been seen to be revived.

The Oldest Human to ever be revived? Then yes, it would be her unless someone else came forwards with evidence to suggest they are from an even earlier point in human history.
But if we are talking about the Oldest Guardian, in terms of either the first ever person to be revived from a Ghost or the longest serving Guardian from Resurrect to potential Death, then...those questions are harder cause we don't know who the first person to be revived by a Ghost was, and we don't really know how long certain Guardians have been protecting humanity for, or how long the ones who have passed served

@@Fearienify ....No, you're wrong. This individual is a guardian, they're a realitively recent resurrection too. The video is talking about how they're the oldest guardian as in, the time period they were born in before dying. This individual was from before ancient egypt and when revived, didn't even have the concept of any of the modern languages. It seems that guardians are resurrected at first with only the tongue they spoke from before, like a residual memory. They go into it in the lore page that they were extremely lonely for a while because ourside of rheir ghost, their language was dead and noone spoke it and since they didn't know any others, they couldn't communicate with the vanguard or other guardians. Ghosts seem to both be able to communicate with guardians through some sort of telepathy while they're dead once resurrected at least once(Fynch mentions how his knight is constantly begging him to be brought back, through their mental link) and seem to also possess knowledge of their chosens mother tongue.
So in other words, we can be fighting alongside the late queen Elizabeth?

Based upon context clues, oldest living post-first rezz lightbearer might very well be the Drifter. He seems to have existed for a while prior to the Iron Lords vs Warlords wars broke out.
What separates a "low-powered" guardian from a "high-powered" guardian?
The player Guardian by all count is considered low-powered.
Ikora Rey can literally spam supers back to back, while Osiris when he still had his light can cast Doppelgangers or clones of himself... All using Dawnblade at the same time. Or Zavala who can bubble and then immediately go ham with Fist of Havoc.
What the player Guardian is good at is that they can learn all elements and use both light and dark very freely. Something that even eludes the main Vanguard leads. In terms of raw power... We don't match them at all but we overmatch in flexibility.
I thought Drifter was one of the oldest lightbearers since he was around since the dark ages.
I believe Dark ages applies to the period after the collapse, not our literal historical dark ages

Many guardians have been around since then. That’s why the Iron Lord’s were created to stop the increasing number of unchecked risen.
Drifter is definitely one of the oldest gaurdians still alive today along with Ada-1 seeing as they both have actually encountered the darkness in combat. The black armoury was actually made to fight the darkness pretty sure

What actually happens when a ghost is killed, are there just less ghosts now? Is the traveler constantly producing them? What would happen if too many ghosts were killed would there just be barely any guardians?
There is nothing that really states that the traveler reproduces. So the answer would be no unfortunately.

We’ve seen that the Awoken, Exos, and Humans can become lightbearers by their ghosts seeking them out, but it was my understanding that the hive deceived/tricked the ghosts into granting them access to the light. Is my understanding close to the actual lore or am I just completely wrong?
@@m0x355no, the actual reason for the Hive having the light is, that the traveller has chosen them before he has chosen the humans... that was revealed in the Story of the witch queen campaign

Not trying to beat a dead horse here but I have some constructive critique for the video:
1) There have never been Eliksni light bearers. There ARE however, Eliksni Splicers who seem to be able to harness the innate presence of The Light across the universe in order to interact with reality and with technology in an advanced way, but NOT in the paracausal manner Lightbearers can.
Additionally, while there are not Eliksni Lightbearers, there are Eliksni “Darkbearers” (to use a made up term) who have taken up the power of Stasis. However the modus operandi behind wielding the Light and the Dark are entirely different, and these Dark Eliksni could never reverse the learning process to gain powers of the Light. The Light must be gifted by the Traveler, while the Darkness must be taken.
2) Guardians and Lightbearers are indeed two different concepts. Lightbearers encompass all types of Light-wielding paracausal beings. This, right now, is known to include the Lucent Hive, the Guardians of the City (Awoken, Exo, Human), and various non-aligned beings (Warlords, Iron Lords, maybe Concordat?) who inhabit the Sol System. Ghaul is the closest the cabal have ever come to having a Cabal Lightbearer, but he tried to take the Light (as we said earlier, it doesnt work like that, must be a gift) and was consumed by it and then obliterated/punished by the Traveler. The closest thing we have to another species in the lore being anything like us (Lightbearers) would be the Ammonite, a species that the Hive annihilated thousands of years ago in the lore.

There was an Easter egg of that in D1, where pur Ghost said he find a Good warrior asleep in the Cosmodrome, but this warrior refuses to be brought back, and tells the ghost to let him sleep, because, and i quote our Ghost's words:
"I've Fight enough Battles for a Thousand lifes"
This might be a Reference to Master Chief at the end of Halo 3 but before Halo 4, to the phrase "when you need me, wake me up" he says to Cortana.

My Titan (who's been in since D1 day one) is now, in my head canon and thanks to the Viking ornament set, a fallen Viking raider and wears his armour proudly in battle despite it being vastly outdated compared to other more modern forms of armour and protection.
i dont believe any eliksni have been reborn as a guardian to date... popular theories point towards ido... but even that's not likely, actualy to date its only been human/exo and hive (disregarding Ghaul since he stole the light)

A friend of mine, with the history knowledge to back this up, believes Bungie might have mixed up their research on this one. Sen-Aret is likely not a Qadan, but one of those who massacred them.
the first ever guardian was actually rezyl azir who got corrupted by the hive n became dredgen yor. he was killed a long time ago but as far as i know his old ghost is still around n with a new guardian

Yes when rezyl azir turns into dredgen yor fully,his ghost became disgusted of who he is and so she left. it never said anything of her being alive or dead so think optimistic
Rezyl wasnt the first, by the time he was risen figures like the warlords and iron lords already existed, it talks about him fighting in shaxx's crucible though if you're referring to him being a guardian of the city and not a risen it is likely he was among the first, also quick edit there is only one recorded instance of a ghost choosing a new guardian that I'm aware of and thats shin malphur with his fathers ghost, also a rare case of a risen not being dead before receiving the light

Eliksni have never been resurrected by ghosts. Humanity was the only group to wield the light until Savathun and her brood. Aside from them, humanity have been the only lightbearers.
Exo and awoken count as human. They were human before their transformations.

Its actually kind of cool, in D1 there was a pod that if you approached your Ghost would comment something along the lines of "Myself and a few other ghosts have tried to ressurect this man, but he basically just says 'Nah Im good. Seen enough war. Let me sleep' " And the pod is known to be from the Halo universe. Really cool easter egg from Bungo.

I think you mean to say that Ghosts can resurrect non-human species because they've revived Hive members as well. Eliksni only worship the Great Machine, they are not Guardians themselves (they would have been, but the Traveler abandoned them, just as it did for the species that eventually created the Witness.) and as such, some created and joined the House of Light.
Being a Guardian is not defined by being human, any species can become a Guardian, so long as they are chosen by the Traveler.

When I find videos related to the question: the longest LIVING guardian, I think about how long the guardian has been in the game for
Ghost can and have resurrected lightbearers in locations other than earth. Perfect example of this is Crow who was resurrected in the dreaming city. Also not all lightbearers are guardians. And another point, she wasn't the oldest guardian but the oldest corpse to be resurrected.

Pretty sure different Guardians have different affinities for certain subclasses like are Guardian is known to be incredibly powerful due to us having no bias for an element. Ghost even seem to have different light out puts and intelligence. This is shown with how a ghost just resurrected a child though pure emotion basically

Even when eliksni had the traveller, ghosts didnt exist yet so they didnt get the light.
Okay while yes she is from a long time ago, she isn't the oldest guardian, her life as a non guardian doesn't count to her time as a guardian and she probably has lived the same amount of years as all other guardians, probably less. The "oldest" by technicality would be Rizzal Azir, later known as Dregen Yor, as he is the first guardian and lived through the end of the collapse up until at least the battles for the moon, I think even to battle of the six fronts. Although he is dead now, his ghost is still around, therefore making him still a guardian and so even though he's been dead as a guardian for some time now I feel like it still counts until his ghost dies

want to add that? just make the character carry something that shows they are from an ancient age, maybe this old bronze dagger, that is completely useless, but for some reason gives them some sense of belonging.
or maybe, the person in revived has a bit of a broken stone arrow head stuck in their body,
maybe they have a tattoo, and there's a quest where you help them identify it. instead. "nah, dude said im ancient because lore".
