Brilliant tutorial as always! Thank you for the step by step clear explanation along with the fantastic visual. I used the principal of this tutorial and applied it to making a dog bed. I omitted the handle. And extended the zip to open at the sides as it was a large project. I am very pleased with this, my first attempt. Delighted to be a subscriber to your channel.
What a great video and idea to make a small project before I have to tackle a large one.... vintage travel trailer cushions for the dinette and bedroom area. Thank you so much for such a great series of videos on cushion and upholstery make overs. I will be sure to share with all my vintage travel trailer friends on Facebook who are restoring and renovating their vintage travel trailers.
This is a really nice video. I was impressed watching the 111 at work. Looks likes the operation and feed are very smooth. Seeing the hand position used while sewing around the large radius corners cleared up the issue I've been struggling with. Thanks for your video!
I am going to attempt to make a circular beer keg cushion for my friend. This video shows me everything I need to know (including that my sewing machine is rubbish!) so thank you very much!
This video is great! This show all the tips and hints you would only normally learn after getting some experience (and probably wasting a lot with trial and error) I will even buy a Sailrite machine since you guys are clearly very professional and helpful. I can see my current machine wont work. For what a local fabricator wanted to redo all my boat cushions (I am restoring 2 old boats) I can buy a machine and do it myself
Thanks for your positive comments and for the patronage to Sailrite. If you have any questions let us know. I'm still new to sewing and my wife surprised me with an LSZ-1 for Christmas and this was my first more serious project towards things I want to do such as boat cushions, covers, sail work, etc. What a great video and I'm really pleased with the end result - while it doesn't look perfect, it also doesn't look like a 5 year old did it. I used the Nauga Soft Saddle color with the Seabrook vinyl piping Midnight/Navy - looks awesome. I struggled in a couple places and was hoping for some input... 1. I was really paying attention to the match-up marks and worked to nail them most of the time but it seems the boxing mark was always lagging the plate mark. I noticed this in advance of each mark and tried to figure how to feed the boxing faster than the plate (using the large cording foot). Is there a trick to this? I wound up with a couple of pinch points where I was trying to get them to sync up. I'm trying to avoid basting. 2. In the video the piping pulls away from the cord with virtually no effort when making the piping splices/joints. The Seabrook vinyl glue is incredibly strong and very difficult to open up cleanly - I used a point-turner after trying to work it free with back side of a seam ripper and got it free but the slits in the binding are the bigger challenge due to the glue. I couldn't get it open without doing a number on that part and wound up with a frayed mess. Again wondering if there is a trick to this? Sorry for the long comment and Thank you for the awesome video - I learned a ton while doing this and the advice at the beginning to start with a stadium cushion is spot-on as the skills transfer to so many other things!
great videos from sailrite! I find using double sided tape the material comes apart at times so I use a stapler instead and just remove staples as I go. It's because of Sailrite's awesome videos that I started a marine canvas/ upholstery business in cottage country Canada. Keep up the great work Sailrite!! Also ordering from Sailrite is a no brainer.
Going to have a go at this to make some new cushions in the future. Thanks for the excellent tutorial Angela. A very skilled and rather attractive lady too.
