    Hmmm I made a few incorrect statements during my conversation with Joe which I would like to correct. When recounting the events of a lifetime you can overlook peripheral details while attempting to arrive at the center of a point being made. While mentioning how Eric Casanova was not afforded proper credit for his songs, or more accurately while I was listing songs JJ did not write but took credit for, I accidentally said, “signs of the times” that was a mistake, that is one of JJ’s. Also while talking about Doug’s contribution I neglected to list his contribution to the songs FUGITIVE and DEATH CAMPS. Also in a recent chat with Doug the other day on the phone he revealed a bit of info that I was never privy to about the riff he contributed to Crush the Demoniac (the main riff that sounds like Maiden). That’s a story I think he should tell but it made be laugh and reevaluate my indignant feelings about that song. Parris

    This interview changed the way I think about the Cro-Mags. Everything I thought I new about that band was wrong.

    Great show/interview... Not only Parris Mayhew is a smart, articulate and passionate person, who has a lot of interesting things to say, but the host is also smart enough to let his guest speak and to come back at the right time with some pertinent comments and questions. Very enjoyable, and definitely the best HC podcast right now (better than you know who, haha). This podcast is almost 4 hours but it goes back pretty quickly. Also the track by the Aggros rips, especially for an instrumental track! Can't wait to hear more.

    This is fantastic! The level of detail in these descriptions of things like the way the video was recorded, the way the Cro-mags songs were born is fascinating and the articulation is an art in itself. Thanks for letting Parris’s thoughts breathe and not stepping in with interruptions. Another lost art. Also great to hear things like your mom booking Nuclear Assault and writing Graff in the 70’s. This is hardcore and Hate5six does outstanding work. Thank you.

    Also it’s interesting how the lyrics to ‘Malfunction ‘ really foreshadowed the internal strife that would eventually be the demise of Cro-Mags.

    Holy moly...I guess the details were cut out, but Parris was about to talk about the time he saw Harley almost get in a fight on the Revenge tour..
    I'm gonna guess he was gonna talk about a show in SF..I won't go into the story, but it was pretty nuts. Maybe Parris will be bored sometime and read this comment.
    If YOU do.. out front of the venue. You and that Asian dude (he was no joke, BRAVE).. I was right there next to you... until you all made it into the van.
    That night?

    • @THEAGGROS
      @THEAGGROS Год назад +1

      Hello, well of course I remember that day. It’s not every day that you get into an altercation with 50 dudes. The Asian dude was my friend Nelson. No joke is right. Were you the guy who stood with us all through the Frey? What’s your name, I couldn’t believe you did that. Seemed like were gonna get anialated. We held our ground well enough, but our Van certainly got the brunt of it. Parris

    The guitar player you were talking about was George Lynch. He use to hang out at my friends record shop. He was very funny and down to earth. Very sad to hear him talk about Cromags drama. Their legacy is secure, but they could have been so much more if they could have kept it together. Paris still rips on guitar 🎸

I learned SO much. 2 things that would improve these interviews in the future: Joe needs a better quality/higher def cam, and also not have a giant microphone covering his face, lol. But again, thanks for an amazing interview with one of the musical greats of the hardcore scene.

    I’m 52 and remember when age came out. I’m probably the only person in the scene that thinks it’s completely overrated. My taste has changed since and I’ve given bands a second chance and have enjoyed some bands I didn’t back in the day. CroMags isn’t one of them. Still not a fan. I’ve walked out of their shows twice. Once in the eighties and once a couple years ago. I just don’t feel it.
    Great interview though. Great to get a different view. Great interview really Likable fella, great tune

      I'm 52 and got to see them open for. Motorhead and megadeth in 85 at the Santa Monica civic and then tour after age of quarrel in 86 at fenders in long Beach headlining and many times after including reunion of original band in 2000 and cromags fucking rock and always thought they were underrated same with leeway who I saw with the bad brains in 88 at iguanas in Tijuana mexico. Profile screwed these 2 bands by not promoting them with any big money they really didn't promote the bands and if they didn't take off by themselves they just didn't put the money into distribution or supporting the bands touring in any way. Cromags and leeway both in my opinion got screwed out of their possibilities and their destinations .profile got them.out to the public but they didn't support the bands and put money and faith into them at all!! They were a small label and didn't have that much power it would have been so much different for those bands if profile would have sold the lable to geffen records long ago

      @johnscrivner5660 3 года назад

      Love Parris and his cromags songs and the new stuff sounds great but that is a pretty funny comment about is this a video or an address commercial lol that's what I was thinking are they sponsoring you? They should be paying you for the advertising here !! Much respect for all of your cromags work and your songs you should receive royalties for the name and for them both jj and Harley playing your songs and making a continued living off of them.you deserve to be paid for your creating those songs and continued residual payments for them playing your songs in both bands playing mostly your songs live.you could always squash all the bullshit from the past between you all and do one more good cromags album and tour and get your fair share of the profits and credits for your music even if you gotta bite your tongue and let go of the bitterness to let it happen.your success lies in the cromags success into the future and getting what already has happened out to the rest of the world that never got to experience the cromags in their heyday etc..there's alot of money and future fame in promoting the old cromags legacy cause I think so many have never heard the cromags original shot that by promoting it and reuniting the band in its original form would make them way more of a household name and the fame and fortune that would co.e with exposing the legacy to millions of new fans would make the cromags legacy south larger than it is now .so many young people and old people don't know who you were cause they weren't there but they hear you from me playing cromags and they act like they just found the best new band of their lives.you guys got screwed by profile records not lasting and getting your shit out to the masses just like leeway and their distribution to the masses! You both deserve to be exposed to the masses on a much larger level and would go down in history as such larger known bands if you guys got back together and reprinted these albums and got the distribution out to the masses etc..plus your places in Rock n roll history deserve to be well known and brought to a much larger audience that you deserve the credit and fame and financial reimbursement you guys deserve.i think you should get cromags back together and promote the legacy on a much larger level and be remembered by so many more future fans that don't know of the cromags legacy.ive been following you since 85 and seen cromags in the heyday in 85 86 and again in 88 with Harley and again in 2000 when you got back together so.o. not just some dumb fan telling you this .I personally think your legacy was cut short and you deserve to be a part of rock n roll history but believe you need to re promote the legacy to the world today to get proper credit and placement in history.plus a new album and tour of the original cromags would be an awesome catalyst for re promotion of all of the past cromags material and the story behind it all.this is a suggestion I feel you should not dismiss or overlook before you leave the legacy where it is when it deserves so much more.cromags original lineup were one of my favorite all time bands and I think my opinion is worth it's weight in gold.look me up when you get smart and do as I'm suggesting cause it's some solid fucking advice.
